This is an emotional journey with Charity Baxter. Readers will enjoy the story and the characters.
As I started this book I was quickly engrossed in Charity's story. The author gave just enough background for you to understand Charity's family and history. As the story unfolds, amazingly written characters enter the story. You have the elusive neighbour, the estranged uncle, the runaway girl and all the people living in the island entering the story. It has a hint of mystery, love and betrayal, and a story of hope and promise. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! I wasn't even on the second chapter when I went and looked for other books written by the author!
This is a beautiful story and Gaslamp Island is a place I won't soon forget. It is a beautiful reminder to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on, no matter how much adversity their is. Beautifully written, with a descriptive writing style that helps you be able to smell the smells and feel the feels. Love this book and will be recommending it to fellow readers. I received a copy of this for a voluntary review by NetGalley.
I was immediately captivated from the first page!
A strong weeping tree stands on Gaslight Island where you will find a little mystery, magic, heartache, love and what everyone needs most forgiveness.
So go ahead and take a short vacation and visit this wonderful island, Charity is waiting to tell you her story.

This was a beautifully written and completely engaging story of family, love and relationships. The author uses just a touch of magic to help us understand the mystery and power of forgivenesss.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. I highly recommend it.
In this really sweet and some time heartbreaking story of grief, Charity Baxter inherits her grandparents' home. With a narcissistic, self absorbed mother, the summers she spent with her grandparents where the only times she felt loved. On her journey of grief and healing, she begins collecting other lost souls, uncovers family secrets, and finds forgiveness. A good read with a hint of magic and the moral that blood does not always mean family. This is a smooth flowing, superbly written sweet read that pulls on the heart strings with a story that will make you wipe a few tears but leaves you with a smile on your face. My review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
This is a wonderful story of family and forgiveness. Charity moves to the Florida Gulf coast when she inherits her grandparents estate. Her grandfather had taught her to be a potter and she has been too busy with her career to visit before he dies. Her mother is livid that Charity was given the house and money and when Harold, her grandfather's estranged brother shows up to reconcile there is a lot of conflict. The Weeping willow tree in the yard plays a significant part of this story and the legend of the tree fits in well with the drama. Part romantic love story, part family saga, this is a good read for any reader who loves a good story.
" And hope was the light of the world, where no darkness could penetrate." This is the final line from the book and I just love it. It explains the book. This is a book of forgiveness. Of a great love of family and understanding family can be complete strangers turned into family. I loved this book. Charity inherits her Grandfather's house on Gaslamp Island in Florida. She always loved spending the summers there with her grandparents when she was a little girl. On the property is a willow tree that is very special. She misses her grandparents but has such wonderful memories of them. She has a handsome neighbor she becomes friends with, a runaway stowing away in her attic, a mother she has never been close to visits, and she reconnects with her uncle. All of these people become a huge part of Charity's life. It is a book that completely enchants and teaches how important forgiveness is for yourself and for others. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing me a copy of this wonderful book in return for an honest review.
