A decent read. It helped me meet a reading goal, but it's not my typical fare by far.

Java Girl's review:
loved this short novel from one of my favorite writers of MM romance, L. A. Witt! The last three atruegemawardbooks I’ve read have been novellas or short novels, and fortunately for me, all have been excellent. I think it takes a special talent to tell a complete story, including character development and backstory, in a short format. Ms. Witt is definitely up to the task!
Joel and Andre have been secretly attracted to each other for several years, but until recently, Joel was in a relationship. Now both men are unattached and able to act on their mutual attraction, but Joel has learned from his disastrous previous relationship that kink is not his thing, and he knows he can’t try to change who he is to please someone else. Andre is a Dom and a sadist, who is very attracted to Joel. Like Joel, Andre knows who and what he is, and can’t deny that part of him to please a partner, no matter how much he cares for the the other man. I really liked both men, and understood their predicament. Neither man was wrong, and both were smart enough to know they wouldn’t be happy living a lie. As I read their story, I found myself trying to figure out how, or if, a compromise was possible. How were they going to make a relationship between a vanilla man and a sadistic Dom work? I enjoyed their story, the emotional highs and lows. It was obvious these two cared deeply for each other, and I really wanted them to find a way to be together and still stay true to themselves. That’s all I’m going to say, except to recommend you pick up Kinky Sprinkles and read the rest for yourself.

I totally admit I requested this book for it's title (and I still love the title), but after reading I'm super glad I did request it. The story is sweet and sexy, and I love that they work out their differences and find ways to make things work.

I love L.A. Witt books and when I read what Kinky Sprinkles was about, I was very excited to jump right in. I have a fondness for BDSM books or novellas that feature a sub who denies their kinky nature. Finding a Dom who helps them unearth and come to terms with those desires is always a fun and intriguing ride. That was what I was expecting when I began reading and while it was written exceptionally well, things didn't go quite how I envisioned them. Joel is finally out of an abusive relationship and it has soured him on kink. He is sure it is not for him and has less than any desire to travel down the sub road again. Andre has been waiting for his chance with Joel and now that he's finally free he is ready to try and make something happen, the only stumbling block is that he is a Dom with sadist tendencies and Joel only wants a normal boyfriend who will lead a vanilla life with him. What follows is hot, but vanilla sex and Andre's attempts to coax out Joel's deeply buried submissive nature. I was sure, right up until the end that he would be successful and Joel would finally give up the fear and give into the kink. Instead it ends on a note that leaves me wondering if it could even be considered happy for now and has me desperately hoping for a sequel at some future date.

An enjoyable read for me for the simple fact of - this book shows that you don't have to change who you are, or what you want for a person.
Joel is a sweet man who has been burned in the past, but he wants Andre - just not everything that Andre means. Andre was a great man who was willing to compromise to be with Joel, no matter what it took.
The story was one that drew me in - simply because I wanted to find out what was going to happen between these two men who just can't seem to stay apart. Their chemistry was off the charts and their relationship just worked for them.
Overall, I would say if your a fan of Witt's books, then you should check this one out.
