Jane Eyre is a classic. However we know it can be difficult to read through some of the classics. They are great and tell wonderful stories but it seems there is always a lot of filler info in there that is trying to create an environment in our heads. The manga classic for Jane Eyre takes a lot of that world building filler out and draws the picture for you itself. This helps not only get the main story point across but really draws you in visually and emotionally. i recommend this for any teachers or parents who want their kids to learn about the classics but they are getting push back on it due to being in an older writing style. Personally i recommend this to adults too, its a great read. The art is what will capture your attention and the story really draws you in.

I have read and reviewed several Manga Classics over the last year and have greatly enjoyed them all. I was not sure about Jane Eyre, but this is a satisfying, well done version of the story. I read through it quickly and easily in just 2 days. The text is clear, the artwork is excellent, and I look forward to reading more Manga Classics from this publisher. I never thought I would like this format, and if you have similar doubts, I recommend giving it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. Udon, keep them coming!

I absolutely LOVED this version of one of my all time favorite books.

This is written and adapted excellently, the tone and pacing spot on, and the illustrations and characters are just perfect. I couldn’t be more thrilled and would recommend this to any and all who love classics, particularly Jane Eyre.

Love that they're adapting all the classics into manga, it's translated really well and a good entry point for readers interested in classics. I love the explanation of why this has been adapted into manga as well as the little introduction to Charlotte Bronte at the end, it felt very respectful.

Jane Eyre is such a great classic and I loved what this manga did to visualize it. Even though, what Mr. Rochester does in this story isn’t great and I don’t totally love their relationship. I understand the time this story was written in and Jane’s actions and her sense of integrity made her one of the strongest of women.

Jane’s upbringing was harsh and even from when she was young she stood up for herself. It makes me happy to know this book continues to be taught in schools because strong women should always be celebrated.

Jane becomes a governess and teaches Mr. Rochester’s daughter. Jane’s interactions with Mr. Rochester are at first cold. However, over time they talk more and more and a love interest strikes between them. While the manipulation that Mr. Rochester conducts is deplorable, and this isn’t the best example of a true love match, it shows how adults make mistakes and do weird things when their in love sometimes. I think in this day and age it is more common for people to catch certain tactics people use to manipulate, but it is still a story that happens to this day.

People will always try to make each other jealous in order to get the person they really like to make a move. However, it is not a good tactic and it often causes great heartache for all involved. In any case, in this story it works out in the end and Jane marries Mr. Rochester who has become blind after the fires that took his mansion.

It is a gothic romance that is timeless and has many iterations over the years. It is a story I love to collect retellings of and it finds its way back into my life over and over. I’m glad to have read this beautifully drawn manga version of Jane Eyre. It does the story justice.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! Overall, I really enjoyed this manga! It does stick very closely to the original Jane Eyre story, so chances are, if you do enjoy the original novel, you'll enjoy this adaptation. While I don't know a ton about art and manga styles in general, I will say that the art was pleasant to look at and did a pretty good job at bringing the characters to life! (Though, I will say, Rochester asking if Jane finds him handsome, while being a sparkly handsome anime man is pretty funny, in a way). I would say that the only actual issue I had with the book is that sometimes, for pacing/adaptation purposes, certain scenes or dialogue were paraphrased or rewritten, and sometimes it came across as anachronistic, which is a little distracting at times. The additional information about the making of the manga was also really informative, interesting, and nice to read. Overall, though, I think it's a solid adaptation. If you enjoyed the original novel, chances are that you'll probably enjoy this! I would probably also recommend this for people who maybe can't or don't want to read the original novel - this version is a lot more digestible, especially for young adult readers. 4 stars!

The manga adaptation of *Jane Eyre* offers a captivating reinterpretation of Charlotte Brontë's timeless story. The artwork is stunning, effectively capturing the gothic atmosphere and the characters’ emotional journeys. Each illustration enhances the narrative, bringing a new vibrancy to Jane's struggles and triumphs.

While the pacing is generally effective, some complexities of the original novel are streamlined. However, the core themes of resilience and integrity remain intact, making it a great introduction for newcomers and a delightful revisit for longtime fans.

Overall, this manga adaptation successfully blends classic literature with striking visuals, making it a worthwhile read for both manga lovers and Brontë enthusiasts alike!

This was a wonderful adaptation of Jane Eyre. The illustrations were enjoyable and engaging. The story was easy to understand. After the story, it explores differences between the book and different adaptations. It discusses why certain changes were made to adapt it to a manga format. Perhaps what I enjoyed most was that it made a book available to a struggling reader and allowed us to share in a literary classic in a way we've never been able to before. As my family has readers of various reading levels, this was a great way for all of us to enjoy a mini book club experience together.

Thank you to NetGalley and Manga Classics for letting me enjoy this book and share my honest thoughts and feelings about it with others.

I read this courtesy NetGalley and Udon Entertainment/Manga Classics. The drama and tragedy of Charlotte Bronte’s classic comes alive in this manga. The emotions and voice that characterize and on occasion slow down the plot of the original novel have been smoothed and crystalized by use of the sequential art here, while sharpening the focus and motivations of Jane and the people around her, in particular Mr. Rochester. Included in this book are detailed sketches of the characters, author biography, and a discussion of how the manga format brings to life the novel. One of literature’s great love stories comes alive in this interpretation.

The first Manga Classic that I've read is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. As I didn't know what to expect, I was a bit skeptical. The classic language was kept somewhat similar, which surprised me. I would like to see the pictures in color. In my opinion, this is a fantastic way to introduce the classics to the younger generation. One of my favorite classic books is Jane Erye.

Being an adaptation, especially of a classic, is not easy, but this manga succeeds with stylized and consistent art style that became really addicting. I think the best thing, though, an adaptation can do is provide a new experience. And I can say this manga does. The paneling has this quality where it exudes perspective and life. Characters don't emote the same every shot, the paneling isn't repetitive in the slightest, the dialogue pops with personality and wholesomeness, in parts. Overall, a great read and impressive display of pure craft in regards to the artwork.

This Jayne Eyre manga was a cute version of the story, the art style was pretty and the way the story was formatted was easy to follow and understand. It was slightly condensed but it’s good for those who aren’t sure they want to invest in the actual book. This is probably great for high schoolers or if you want a quick read.

Jane Eyre is a classic for a reason and it really came to life with this manga adaptation. The story is obviously wonderful as a Bronte sisters fan, but the artwork with it really stepped it up a notch and I believe it will make it more approachable to a larger audience. Overall I really enjoyed this adaptation!

Thank you to netgalley for a digital copy of this manga in exchange for my review.

I really enjoyed the art style overall. The illustrator did a good job at drawing the settings and using descriptions from the book to capture the general atmosphere and mood of the work. The illustrations really brought this story to life in a meaningful way.

Many thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to view this book prior to publish date. I am so very grateful.

First, I must say that Jane Eyre is my all time favorite book. My mother had been a huge fan of the Bronte sisters and recommended this book to me when I was quite young. Through the years, I pick it up and re=read it to see how I feel as I get older. I just love it more and more.

This is my very first manga and I'm so glad I started with this book. I now love the story even more. The illustrations are gorgeous and add so much to this beautiful and haunting story. It's almost like reading it for the first time all over again, but with new eyes. All the emotions come through so clearly. I cry with and for Jane during her early years, as she is belittled and abused by so many. And I smile as she begins to find her gentle, yet firm voice to help others even as she needs help. Jane's story is truly one of hope, no matter what.

I love being exposed to manga. Even though I am viewing this in black and white, I think it's beautiful. When it is released, I hope I can find a copy for myself to have and read once again. I will love to see the final edition. I know that others, like me, who already know this story, will love this version as much as I do. And for those experiencing this story for the first time, I know they will be enchanted because of the beauty of the story as well as all of the gorgeous illustrations.

I will be looking forward to reading more manga in my future. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. Excellent book!!!!

It’s a cute adaptation, and not a bad idea if you need to bully someone into reading. It’s not wholly accurate, but accurate enough for a middle or high school reader who’s going to read the novel later. One of my gripes is that Rochester and Jane are both too good looking— they’re canonically ugly and plain, respectively. All in all, not bad.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite classic stories and so I was really excited to read the manga version. I do think the author and artist do a good job of staying true to the tale while showcasing their own art and interpratation of the characters.
