I think these classics being turned into manga are a great idea. Some of the classics are hard to get into but with manga editions they are much more enjoyable. I remember being age 13-14 and having a hard time getting into books. Especially the classics but I loved manga. I would fly through them the same way I do 400+ page novels now.
When I started reading this edition of Jane Eyre I instantly fell in love with the art. It was really interesting to see the time period with the story in manga form. The artist put a lot of expression into the pages to convey the story and angst that flows from the classic novel. It’s a perfect book for a reader who loves classics and also loves manga. I would definitely buy this for a friend.

Maybe this story is just not for me. I have seen the movies, read and analyzed the novel, read a few retellings and fictions based around the Bronte children; but Jane Eyre to me just never made sense. Granted, I would prefer this manga over any of the other versions because I am a manga person. I think this is a good adaptation for people who aren't into reading classics but who need to know the story.

This is a creative way to read a classic. It is interesting and a different way of understanding, which really made it very interesting. The illustrations are beautiful both color and black and white are a perfect idea. If you have not read Jane Eyre it is a nice taste of the story. If you have read this book before it is nice to get a taste of it in a different approach.

I love these comic books and I already knew the Jane Eyre story so I loved this version so so much. I love how cute the drawings are.

An excellent, beautiful book! I had enjoyed reading Jane Eyre in high school, but reading this version really made the story come alive for me. The art was beautiful and the adaptation very faithful to the original. Students looking to find a more accessible version of this classic tale will surely fall in love with the story and its characters.

These collection of mangas are a great way to revisit classics or get the gist of a classic book you haven’t read before but fells like a challenge.
I really enjoyed reading Jane eyre, while it did leave out some favourite quotes and details that are in the book, it really made the setting and the story come to life. It was nice to see them interact with expressions and the art style was gorgeous I could spend hours looking at the details that went into the decors and the characters. While Jane eyre isn’t one of my favourite classics due to the cheating portrayed in the story, I still couldn’t help but enjoy the romance that seemed even more vivid as you could see each character interact and reimagined by the artist.
Totally recommend to people who want to read classics but aren’t a fan of the full texts.
4/5 stars.

Having never read Jane Eyre before, I thought a Manga Classics edition would be a great introduction to the story, and I was not disappointed! The artwork is so lovely (I was especially fond of the chibi styles in certain silly or sweet moments), and the layout and pacing was very easy to follow.

As for the story itself, I actually knew surprisingly little about it, but I was surprised by how hard it was to like Mr. Rochester! I rarely enjoy the love interests in classics, so I shouldn't have been shocked, but he is truly awful through most of the story and I didn't care much for him until the very end (perhaps that's the point, though). There were also much heavier religious overtones than I'm accustomed to in my usual reading, but it's to be expected from classics. Between these two things, the story wasn't a perfect read for me, but I still enjoyed it a great deal and am so happy that I chose the Manga Classics rendition for my first introduction. I'm not sure if I have much interest in reading the full novel, but I'm pleased to know the story now and even plan on purchasing a finished copy of this manga to reread in the future. ♥

Thank you so much to Udon Entertainment for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a beautiful adaptation of Jane Eyre. It gave a freshness to the ancient story. I particularly liked the drawings and am hoping there will be an anime based on this manga. This manga will definitely get people interested in the original novel.

What a fantastic adaptation of one of my favourite Classic novels. A great way to get students to fall in love with some of the classic titles that they wouldn’t have a chance to read otherwise. I look forward to adding this, and other Manga Classics to my classroom library.

Jane Eyre was one of my Nan’s favourite books so I have intended to read it for the past 30 years. Over the years I’ve tried and failed to make it past Jane’s childhood. I was so mad at the way she was treated, especially by Mrs Reed and John, and when I finally made it to the beginning of her time at Lowood I was so infuriated by the injustice of her life that I discarded this story and moved on to something else; probably something with unicorns.

Now I’ve finally learned the rest of the story thanks to manga! While I’m not the hugest fan of Jane’s story due to my romantiphobia (I would like to think that had I been in Jane’s shoes I would have bailed on both potential suitors and enjoyed my life as an independent single woman) I was engaged in her story from beginning to end. I appreciated Jane’s strong will and independent spirit, especially considering the adversity she faced, and I think it was Jane’s perseverance that would have drawn my Nan to this story.

I adored the illustrations in this book, although Jane’s gorgeous doe eyes made it difficult to take her seriously when she spoke of her plain looks. I loved that, in true manga style, this story reads from right to left and was surprised by how quickly I became used to reading this way.

Thank you to NetGalley and UDON Entertainment for the opportunity to read this book. I’m all doe eyes for manga right now and want to work my way through the rest of their Manga Classics series.

After reading The Count of Monte Christo Manga Classic edition I had to try another one.
The manga editions are fantastic! Quick easy reads if our favorite classic tales.
Next on my list is Macbeth.

If you want to get into classics and live manga you better start collecting those gorgeous editions.

I believe this manga publication will draw readers would otherwise not pick up a copy of this classic.

The illustrations are lovely and the content follows the story well.

This is a coming of age story. Jane Eyre is orphaned and we see her grow into a strong independent woman. She finds a home as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where the estate’s master is Mr. Rochester. As we learn of the secrets, we see she responds with determination and love.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite stories. I also love manga, so this was exciting for me. I absolutely loved it. Everything was completely true to the story and it was so well done. The artwork was beautiful and expressive and made the story flow perfectly. This was a great new way to enjoy a favorite classic. Every important part of the story was there, perfectly encapsulated in the manga format. It was easy to get used to reading it right to left and I was swept along in the story and drawings. I will definitely be reading more manga classics, this was a fun, fresh take on a classic.

I really like the Jane Eyre's story in this manga. I have never read the real classic before and now I want to read it.
Just I had a mistakes of reading because it is my fault. I always forget to read a manga.

Relatively strong manga adaptation of Jane Eyre. The portions dedicated to her early years were particularly well rendered, which is impressive given how much of the source text is focused on internal monologues.

I read the Scarlet Letter Manga Classic a few years ago and it was wonderful! Made me want to read the original novel. When I saw that they had put together a graphic novel for Jane Eyre as well, I went straight for it. This time I'd already read the classic, so I had the privilege of being able to compare the two.

The team does a great job of transforming the story. The art is gorgeous and they still maintain some of that sexy, mysterious feeling throughout Jane and Mr. Rochester’s courtship (and the total wrongness of St. John's proposal). Of course, all the key scenes in their relationship remain. The different format also helped me understand Bronte’s purpose in including Jane’s early schooling, which I totally missed the first time.

I was disappointed in two things only:
- Mr. Rochester did not once call Jane “piquant.” It was his favourite word (almost in excess) for her in the original and I’d hoped they would at least tip their hat in its direction.
-Jane was as plain as manga could make her (ha! Manga’s only fault is it’s too pretty!), but Mr. Rochester was handsome when he’s also supposed to be relatively unattractive.

Like Scarlet Letter, Jane Eyre is true to the story and a great introduction to the classic, not to mention super fun to look at.

This was a fun adaptation. I like Jane Eyre and this was a fun little manga of it. It was done really well and the way it was adapted was done well.

This was a beautiful read. I love Jane Eyre. I loved listening to the audible version narrated by Thandie Newton. But this was entirely different. This is also my first manga! The adaptation does justice to the original version of Jane Eyre. If you are too lazy to read a 500+ book or if you love reading manga, then go for this. It's more like an illustrated summary of the classic without omitting any important details.

A booklover but didn’t ever heard of Jane Eyre – that’s a rare find. I think manga adaption of such classic is a hit among those who are not into reading classics but still want to know the story. It’s cute, it’s enjoyable and it’s short. The only drawback is to not containing the details which can be the actual beauty of classic literature writing.

This is my first ever manga. Before that I struggled a lot to read mangas but could not finish them. I was not sure if I was reading in right direction. Jane Eyre manga edition comes with a manga reading directory and finally makes my life easier and makes me fall into love with manga.

Jane is an orphan from the very start of the book but portrays a determined character of a lady (though she’s been such cutesy illustrated) who faces obstacles of life without any hesitation. Being such limited detailed character discussion , the manga does not fail to show her as an inspiration to the people. She is strong and aspiring. There are so many versions of Jane Eyre. They often fail to carry the real essence of this powerful novel but this manga did not do that. It’s able to connect the readers with the story and engross them into it despite of not giving enough details to connect with the scenes. That’s a success.

The illustrations are very cute but the portrayal of Jane Eyre makes look her tiny and younger sibling and I felt very sympathetic to her circumstances but very proud of her decisions made through all over the chapters. As a first Manga reader Jane looks like a teenager to me (barely 13 or 14) which was irksome. The chemistry between Mr. Rochester and Jane seems legit yet slightly unique for the illustration maybe. But that’s not an obstacle to enjoy the story. Still there are a lack of backstory of Mr. Rochester’s secret which could be an interesting part of the manga.

I would like to give the manga a solid 4 stars for it’s story, dialogue, illustration. As I said if someone is a fan of detailed storytelling he/she may not catch the beauty underlying of such classic adaption but it can be a great read for middle grads and quick readers.
