Jane Austen is the queen of romance for most people especially girls. Her works are exceptional. I've always loved her writings including Sense and Sensibility. Tellling the stories about the Dashwood sisters - Elinor and Marianne. Both of them are like completely different from each other in terms of characters. Yet they are very close to each other as they share a strong connection and have such deep affection towards each other especially when they both suffer from a heartbreaking relationship.

Elinor finally fell in love with Edward Ferrars but as she was more introvert, she kept her feelings hidden. On the other hands, Edward was also doubtful of her feelings- questioning whether she loves him or not. The extrovert Marianne also fell for the handsome Mr. Willoughby without even knowing that there's a better choice of man for him.

Concerning to this manga, I personally realise that not so many classic stories may be "digestible" for the readers. Some are hard to read in the original version. However, this manga-style for classic literature helps those readers to understand several aspects in the novel. In addition, this manga-style is also beneficial for those who have dyslexia. It is fun and entertaining as well.

I was not a fan of the 90s artwork but I really liked how well it adapted to manga artwork. The emotion and expression were clear as was the attention to period detail. The storyline was engaging. Though in the pages, I felt that there was too much crying and too much drama condensed in the book.

I've read this particular story before, so I was intrigued to see how the Manga Classics team would reimagine it, but unfortunately, I severely dislike the art style chosen for this one and couldn't get into it at all.

Another great Manga classic. Sense and sensibility is one of my favourites and this is a great adaptation. Pretty and well stylised, a fun way to enjoy classic literature, the only criticism is the language of the characters feel a bit too modern at some points and not quite in keeping with the period, but overall a great read.

What can I say but wow. I was blown away of how well, this manga was. I have read manga before but this was something incredibly special. I love Jane Austen and her stories have been favourites since my childhood. I loved the idea of turning a beloved classic into a style fit for a new modern audience. The author has managed to add all the details and fundamentals of the story without losing any of the charm or story. The art style is beautiful and well done. I highly recommend this to anyone. I will defiantly be picking up more manga from the Manga classics team.

THIS ADAPTATION IS THE BEST.
I loved the portrayal of the characters, the beautiful art, the details and how the author captured the essence of the book(and how she had the ability to summarize the main things in the book). You connect inmediatly with the story, highly recommended :).

Graphic novels are popular and I never thought about putting a classic novel in this form. It is a creative idea and give a taste of the novel. The illustrations are beautiful. Anyone interested in reading the novel this will give you an idea about the story. If you have read the story before this is a nice different way of looking at the story.

Although I'm a Jane Austen fan, I don't find particullary charming Sense and sensibility (but I love Ang Lee's screen adaptation). This Manga, however, is fantastic. The artwork is so beautiful... The story is there but with changes, of course (which doesn't bother me at all). As all these Manga Classic adaptations, is a great one.

*~.Book Analysis.~*
Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)

Rating: 5 stars
Reading period: Nov. 25th, 2018
Format: ebook

Release date: Aug. 29th, 2014

PROS
To be honest, this adaptation is even better than the original deal! Of course, the story is the same, but there are so many unimportant happenings on Sense and Sensibility original work that we don’t see in this adaptation that my heart sang. Don’t get me wrong: I love Jane Austen’s works, but my original rating for S&S is 3 stars whereas this adaptation is a strong 5 stars. In addition, the art should receive an honorable mention! I loved the style and the details used! The clothes were my favorite part.

CONS
A little of Colonel Brandon’s back story had to be put off as well for the sake of the adaptation, and it is quite unfortunate, but the manga worked out just fine even so.

COVER ANALYSIS
This cover is so pretty, feminine and lively! It gives us a whole new spin on Austen’s main characters. I really wished to have the physical copy, this is a work of art.

RECOMMENDED FOR
Manga, Comics and Classic lovers!

Beautiful artwork and wonderfully rendered. I love manga and I love Sense and Sensibility, so this one was an obvious delight. The story was wonderfully crafted, with all the important plot points displayed accurately. I enjoyed the depiction of the characters and the pacing of the story. I truly enjoy that this was made into a manga and I hope to enjoy more classics like this in the future.

I have never liked Jane Austen, so when I saw that Manga Classics had done an adaptation of a couple of her books, I thought it was worth giving it a chance. After all, this is a series designed to get reluctant readers to pick up the classics. And I must say--it worked! I had the hardest time putting this book down! It was excellent. Po Tse's artwork was beautiful, combining the wide-eyed artwork we've come to expect from shojo manga and tying it in with an often serious (but also often amusing) tale of love and family.

By the time I had finished, this self-proclaimed Austen "hater" was actually preparing to check out the original book from the library. And I'm already looking for my next Austen Manga Classic title!

I was loving the classic manga series until this one. I have never read Sense and Sensibility. I did, as an English major, endure my way through Pride and Prejudice. I love the concept of Austin's stories now and then, but not the writing. The artwork was beautiful. The overall story I think is what I did not like for this work.

Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for this wonderful book in return for an honest review.

This was my first ever Manga and I enjoyed it tremendously. It deserves more than the 5 star rating. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility written in 1811 was wonderfully adapted to this Manga version and the illustrations that go along with the words was perfect.

Sense and Sensibility follows the lives of the Dashwood women. After Elinor Dashwood's father dies, the Dashwood women are left penniless. They are forced to move to a tiny cottage in Devonshire. Here they experience love and heartbreak.

Elinor Dashwood falls in love with Edward Ferrars but this romance is complicated by the fact that Edward is engaged to marry another woman. Once he is freed from his 4 year secret engagement to Lucy Steele, he and Elinor marry.

Younger sister Marianne's heart is torn between the young and dashing John Willoughby who shows his true colours by breaking her heart and leaving her to marry the wealthy Sophia Grey, and Colonel Brandon, who at 35 she considers to be way too old and mature for herself at 16. She does marry the Colonel as he has always been caring and truthful with her.

I love Jane Austen, so reading this classic of her, Sense and Sensibility, in manga format was simply wonderful.
The 300 pages take me back to the story, which I've read more than 10 times, but brings something new, the caprice and the beauty of the comics, I'm delighted.
The artists responsible for the book were amazing at adapting this classic without peder the finest details of the story and modernized so that readers who find boring classics like this, causing them to read soon.
Loved it and pointed out.

Sense and Sensibility is one of those stories I can read no matter how many times it is made. It such a good tale of love, family, and sisterhood. This is well worth the read.

This was a good adaptation that for sure made me intrigued me in reading the original series as I only know glimpses of it.
Adaptation made the reader go in almost no time. Events were well explained and pointed. Graphics were ok, as I saw a lot better manga graphics which would do well in that situation for sure.
Overall: good fast read that can make you want to read the original Jane Austen story.
