I haven’t read Sense and Sensibility yet, but it’s a classic Jane Austen novel. I’ve seen the movies and it’s a fun story. Manga is one of my favorite things to read. I love that they have all of these classic books as manga. I think it makes them easier to understand for people who wouldn’t normally read classics. I loved the illustrations and dialogue. I thought it was true to the story.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys manga and classic literature!
I only read Jane Austen when it was required for school, and I'll admit that I didn't enjoy most of her works. As such, I did go into this Manga Classic feeling a bit of dread. I've enjoyed every MC I've read and despite some of the American classics not appealing to me personally I do nonetheless feel an appreciation for their existence, so it's almost felt obligatory to read and review all the MCs I can. This adaptation turned out surprisingly fun, and in no small part due to MC's consistently exceptional art. Unlike Shakespeare, Austen's works also translate into visual novelization pretty well, and combined with the attention to detail that the MC team put into their adaptations, I wish that the MC books existed when I originally read Sense and Sensibility. English literature specialists might cringe at the adaptation decisions made by the MC team, but speaking as a well-educated individual not employed in humanities academia, I felt that this adaptation was really well done.
I want to thank Netgalley and the publishers for gifting me a copy of Manga Classics Scarlet Letter in return for my honest opinion.
4.5/5 stars
This was my first time reading Scarlet Letter and it did not disappoint. I had heard about it but had never gotten the chance to read it before today. This is a beautiful manga with lots of lessons and hard truths. The drawings and illustrations were done wonderfully and you can tell how much thought was put into each drawing. Nathaniel Hawthorne was a wonderful writer, you could feel the pain that Hester went through and how strong she was throughout the book. If you haven't yet gotten a chance to read Scarlet Letter yet I would recommend reading it in this format!
I love this books!
I love Jane Austen, highly recommended this Manga if you want to read classics
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the book
Heartaches story about love. Two sisters face the same love story, sweet sour love, betrayed, disaproved. The end make me smile, they deserve happy ending.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

The manga adaptations of the classic stories opens up the tales to a wider audience and for that I can greatly appreciate! The art is wonderful as well. Definitely would recommend if you enjoy the story!
I felt this manga classic was very boring. I don't know if it was the story material. But it never really engaged me at all.
Thank you to NetGalley and Manga Classics for access to a digital copy of Manga Classics: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen in exchange for an honest review.

Not having read the original text, I would say this Manga Classics version of Sense and Sensibility is a great introduction to this classic novel. This would be a great way to get teens to read this book and get the broad strokes of the plot.
Personally, I didn't love the simplified version of this book in manga form. It wasn't poorly produced by any means, but I feel like I lost a lot of the nuance of the book because a manga is primarily action and dialogue.
I think the very idea of manga classics is brilliant BUT Jane Ausen in manga is simply even better. This book did not disappoint. Whether you are a fan of the classic or you want to dip your toe but are scared of classics, this is a great way to start or revisit them! Fans of romance, you are not ready for these illustrations.
It`s sad, I could not read the book because graphical designs do not work with the ebook reader. But I am sure that the book is good, I do love classics and I read manga sometimes. I'm sure that people who don't usually read novels have a good chance to appreciate classics in another way. Love to see it in the bookshelves.
This manga/book is set on the countryside in 17th century following the Dashwood sisters after their father death and the older son inheriting everything.
Elinor is the the sister with more sense and see herself in love with her sister-in-law brother Edward but with her moving they became distante causing her pain.
Marianne is the more sensible one that ‘holds her heart in her hand’ and idealize a love with a image of her ideal men and because of this things became difficult in for her.
The transition from the book to the manga was really well done and respectful to the source material and I loved the way the characters were physically translated!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for making this available..
I have never read any Jane Austin stories and I’ve never read manga before so I thought I would give them both a try at the same time.
I think they artwork was cute and it was well done but I don’t think Jane Austin and manga is for me. I know it’s a version of her story but I didn’t understand the hype that everyone gives it. Todays authors give better romance stories in my opinion and that’s a stretch.
Maybe in the future I’ll give manga and Jane Austin another go but for now I wasn’t feeling them.
I think that it's really awesome to take a classic and turn it into a manga. My biggest issue is that it's hard to read on a tablet/phone. Since they are read back to front, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom to start the book. Also the page breaks are not very easy to see so sometimes you can not tell what page you are on.
The dash wood sisters are fatherless and broke and need to make connections to keep their way of life. It's not as easy as that though. Marianne is torn between 2 men. How will she know if she has choosen the right one?
Elinor loves a man who is engaged to someone else and doesn't even believe Elinor loves him because of how well she hid her feelings.

Jane Austen is a wonderful writer who is adored by many people all around the world. Although I'm sure it was challenging, the manga artist did an excellent job of condensing her words. The emotions of the story's protagonists were excellently captured by the illustrator. For individuals who have problems reading big books, these manga editions are an excellent way to read a classic quickly. This Sense and Sensibility adaptation was excellent. When I should have been resting, it kept me reading because it was simple to understand. Each character was vividly brought to life by the artwork, and I could tell who was who throughout the entire book.

This was a wonderful adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. It was easy to follow and kept me reading when I should have been sleeping. The art did a fantastic job of bringing each character to life and I was able to easily follow who was who throughout the book. My only complaint was some formatting issues that made getting started rather annoying. Otherwise it was a very pleasant reading experience.
Sense and Sensibility is my second favorite Austen novel although a large part of that comes from the fantastic movie with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, and the late great Alan Rickman. Of course, whenever Colonel Brandon appeared on the page, I pictured Rickman. That being said, I think that this adaptation, much shorter than the original, missed some of the things that made this book so amazing.
This was always a favourite classic read of mine so I was so excitied to see it brought to life in animated form. It did not disappoint! It followed the original storyline well and had that extra ability to really show how the characters felt and acted in certain situations, absolutely loved it.
Jane Austen is such a fantastic author that is beloved by so many all over the world. I'm sure it was difficult to compress her words down into this Manga but they did a fantastic job. The illustrator did a great job capturing the emotion of the story and the characters. These manga editions are a fantastic way to read a classic quickly for those who have trouble reading large books. I highly recommend
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this for free in exchange for an honest review.
This is not usually everyone's favorite when asked about Jane Austen novels but it holds a special place for me. So, I needed to read this manga edition. I was not disappointed. The artwork is gorgeous and really brought the sister dynamic to life.
4/5 stars.
Jane Austen is one of my fave authors ever and seeing this book in manga was a delight. The art is stunning and i think they did a really good job adapting it. All the elements and iconic scenes from the original ''sense and sensibility'' are there and it's a really enjoyable read! i can't wait to read more classics in this format because if you want to start is the easiest way
