This is the kind of romantic suspense book that ticks all the right boxes for me. Everyone around Harper seems to meet an untimely end, so she has no choice, but to keep those she cares about at arm's length. When she finds herself needing the help of her ex-boyfriend she is not happy. She knows if she spends too much time around Lucas, she'll be tempted to fall back into his bed. Lucas isn't happy to have Harper back in his life either. He is still not completely over her leaving him and when he finds himself on the run with her, protecting her becomes more than just a job. As Harper's secrets begin to come to light, can Lucas protect her and himself?
Much like the first book in this series, this one was disappointing. It was confusing at times with the various characters in and out of the book. Apparently Harper thought keeping important secrets was the best way to keep herself safe even when these secrets have a direct impact on her well being.
I struggled relating to the characters and feeling any type of a connection between them.
