Whilst I read a lot of romance and find myself draw to certain authors and certain characters, I wish at times , I was reading more diverse romance books.
Snow’s debut book fits all my secret desire for romances with diverse elements. This series revolves around strong female characters . Three best friend who met in high school and college and become fast friends and formed a sisterhood. They had a lot in common, however each had their problem and it made things interesting for the last five years .
Until everything comes to crashing together and the woman find themselves together as their companies merge and their pasts revisited as Arya comes face to face the only man she loved. Max who happens to be Carmen’s brother and the reason why she stayed away from Carmen. He destroyed her and she was carrying secrets she didn’t want share especially with Max.
As he knew her too well, he was her equal, he was powerful and wealth as she was in the business world. It what behind the doors, that made their relationship ticked. Arya may have been a powerhouse in the boardroom. But Max knew what she need and he need her. However Arya had other ideas.
Arya Rey was a woman not to mess with. A gorgeous biracial woman that has dealt with more than her far share of discrimination as a woman, her mother’s family and as an Indian . She has risen about it all despite the setbacks. She become the ice queen and she wasn’t going to let Max worm himself inside her heart. She couldn’t cope with him in her life again given the current circumstances.
She faced enough but was she willing to let him aside once again. As Max is willing to go any length to show that he was the only man for her. He was perfect and my heart went out to both of them as their story fell in to place.
Arya and the women are the standout of the novel. Each had a different varied background brought together because of the diversity and determination. They were ready to take charge and I loved that the woman were leads rather then the men.
Arya was strong as much she was beautiful and smart. She was the whole package. She had overcome a lot and it didn’t make anything less that she was naturally submissive. It only added to her story and I wanted to see how she discover this side as this was the missing piece. Whilst we got snippets. I wanted the first time as there was something with these two that would never change even after the time apart.
Max and Arya’s story fits the bill perfect for what my heart desires and whilst this can only be classified as a story with diverse elements. I can’t wait to read more of Snow’ss writing and hope she has other characters like Arya in the future.
Received in exchange for a honest review.
I liked and disliked. This is the first in this series by Sienna Snow and overall I found the book enjoyable but some things just got to me.
Characters:
Arya and Max are the main characters and I adore Max.Why? HE was flawed. He admitted he messed up and owned up to it. He showed he was vulnerable. Tried to make up for his mistakes.
Arya was alright. I think she fell short. Sienna Snow tried to make her a strong woman but she wasn’t. She was stubborn and a bit hypocritical. When Max did what he did that didn’t give her the right to keep things from him or not listen to him when he tried to make amends. She just said nope no way. But when it came time for her secret which is a huge huge whopper Max was just supposed to be well okay I forgive and move on. Nope not buying.
the other characters were stubborn and there for these two when needed.
POV;
Only Arya’s and to me it would be a stronger story if Max’s view was here as well. I think we would get a better picture of everything and feel more grounded in some of the past. With only the view of Arya things are skewed and there isn’t a true sense of all that is going on.
Even though that is the case, seeing Arya’s point of view helped us to feel her emotion and where her mind was while things were happening.
Plot:
I feel that we came in in the middle of a story and needed a book before this. We got flashbacks but not enough to truly get a sense of the complete past between these two. Set this aside and we have a fast pace, suspenseful and sensual second chance romance going on with some serious erotic undertones, overtones every tone.
Overall:
It was enjoyable and went quickly. Characters gave us some steamy times and showed us some growth and we got a suspense as well that I don’t believe will end with just this book. I think this book set up Arya and her friends nemesis for the series. A enjoyable story on second chances and forgiveness.
The Rule of Engagement series dives us into the stories of a trio of women and the company they've formed along with the murky waters of past relationships and unending love.
Rule Breaker is book one in the series and it delivers us Arya and Max story of second chances and lasting love. When Max and Arya last parted - it was devestating to both of them, even if it didn't seem so at the time. Heartbroken and lost, Arya carried her suffering silently for years, letting out those secrets to only the few closest to her and keeping them buried from everyone else. Though she knows in her heart she'll always love Max and he's her one, she's not sure she can forgive him the past and give him a second chance.
Max knows he made a serious mistake when he let Arya go, he'd do anything to make up for it now, but first he has to get her to open up and let him back in and he's not afraid to use her business to go about gaining entry. But what Max doesn't know can hurt him and when he finds Arya (and her friends) in danger - he's even more determined to prove his love.
When the past comes out and secrets are revealed can they forgive each other enough to not only explore their love and find a new relationship? Can Max keep Arya safe? And more importantly will there be answers about the past and the future dangers?
Rule Breaker kept guessing, with my heart breaking one moment and pounding the next; my mind spinning with theories and questions. And more importantly my heart rooting for these two to find a way to move past the Past and find forgiveness with each other to heal their broken hearts and discover they were always meant to be.
This series has been a roller coaster for me. It's highs and lows have been fun to follow. In this latest (and I think last) installment Thomas and Carmen are probably my favorite out of all of them. While I think you would be ok reading this one first, it's probably best to read them in order. Their relationship is a BDSM one and the power struggle between them is probably my favorite part out of everything in this book. If you enjoy BDSM books then I really think you should check this one out.
The rest of the series is just as enjoyable as this book and the couples were smoking hot together. This new to me author is a great writer and I really enjoyed her story telling. The books flow well and at time are very hard to put down. I can't wait to see what else she will come out with.

Five years ago Arya Rey lost the love of her life, in one fell swoop she lost her lover, friend, and dom. it completely crushed her, but she has since found a way to move on without him. She put a shield around her heart and has no intentions of ever letting anyone near it again, but then again she didn't plan for Max to wander back into her life. Her company is merging with another, and it just so happens that he own the other. But this little merger comes with some unexpected complications, Max has plans, ones that involve him winning her heart again... question is can she find it in herself to forgive him.
Rule Breaker was an impressive first read, it had a good mix of suspense, angst, emotion, and of course sexy times. From the first chapter it captured my attention, and kept me teetering on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two circle around one another, constantly calculating the other's moves, the chemistry steadily brewing between them... it was quite a heated little read!! Highly recommend you check out this series, you will not be disappointed with what you find!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
From what I read this is Sienna Snow's first publication. If this is her first book, it's an excellent start to her publishing career. In my mind the book is about a 3.5 rating but I'm rounding up because I'm grading on a slight curve and it's Thanksgiving.
This book is about Arya and and Max. This is a second chance romance. Let me just say, I don't really like second chance romance. I like to be in the relationship with the characters from the beginning of the book. The fact that I like this book is therefore even more evidence of the talent of the author. Arya met Max 5 years ago when she was a nerdy virgin. Max is a sexy billionaire Dom who introduced Arya into all the wicked passion and pleasure of a D/s relationship. But then Max abruptly broke the relationship off. You may feel some type of way about Max ditching Arya but nothing is quite what it seems. From the beginning of their reunion Max says things which make you aware that more happened on his end to keep him away from Arya for 5 years than Arya knows. There are also some truly crazy ish that happened to Arya in the 5 years.
Ok, we just have to take a pause for the cause. What happened to Arya might have been too crazy. One minute you're reading a normal romance book about a girl with a heart broken by a reckless a-hole. The next minute, you're like whoa whoa whoa, what did you just say? What happened to her? You find out pretty early on but I won't spoil it. The reason I write about it is because things like that incident are indicative of a problem with this book. Not all of the events were woven together in a seamless fashion. Some parts of the plot felt very jerky and kind of knock you out of the overall vibe of the book. This author shows a lot of potential and I think issues like that will take care of themselves in the near future.
If you are a reader like me, you don't like sexual euphemisms. And by that I mean I hate phrases like "her aching bud." When I first started reading this book I thought we were in for that kind of journey. If you pick this book up and you panic because you think it's going to be that kind of party, just hang in there. Things get more explicit and concrete as the book goes on.
When Arya and Max first reunite I was a little frustrated at Arya. I mean as far as she knew, Max left her high and dry at the worst time. But from the beginning of the book Arya has no ability to control her physical reaction to Max. Despite her mental objections, she pretty quickly falls back into the relationship with Max. I got over my woman's empowerment issues though. As the book goes on things make more and more sense in terms of why the couple was separated. And yeah, maybe Arya came across as a bit weak but I wanted these two together and I'm glad it happened pretty quickly. All in all this is another great read for the holiday season.
Technie women unite! New to me author, Ms. Snow wows me with this new series. I picked this book up on a lark, not expecting much. With many authors still jumping on the BDSM bandwagon, I normally prepare myself for disappointment. Ms. Snow writes a moving tale, pulling me into kinky erotica, intrigue, betrayal and love rekindled.
Arya Rey is the kind of female protagonist I admire and understand. She works in the world I live in and she's made it to the top. She is an inspiration to women in the technology field. To top it off, she is Indian. It is rare that I come across a book where the female lead is Indian with a nice blend of American Indian traits. The authenticity of Arya's character as a minority female certain caught my attention. But this isn't a story about race or focused on the sexual lure from the Orient. This story is about rising from the ashes, reborn and stronger. Arya is a complex character who is a survivor, not a victim. She may be fragile on the inside, but her exterior is solid and she can take on the world. Her professionalism is impressive, even when her ex-lover, Max comes into the picture.
Max's company may be doing a friendly merger with Arya's but his personal business is all hostile takeover. I am not sure if I really liked Max. He is arrogant, pushy and determined to force Arya back into his arms and loving bondage. If this was a non-con BDSM piece, it would have pushed me over the erotic edge and into erotic ecstasy. This is an erotic romance so I found Max to be a bit off putting. He does have his reasons and I still think he isn't really the best for Arya. Arya suffered so much and Max, he just seems to not be able to connect the dots and understand. He keeps pushing and pushing to the point of a bit stalkerish for me. Still, Ms. Snow keeps him from crossing the line. Near the end, I did accept his desire to be back with Arya.
From a BDSM kink perspective, very erotic and totally glitterkink. I do enjoy glitterkink and this club is fantastic. I wish this club did exist and that I could afford going. Ms. Snow designs a kink fantasy club complete with beautifully attractive members. Reality for most clubs is a bit different. The BDSM scenes are well done. They are plausible if a bit light in the description. It does show Ms. Snow researched the scenes well or she's participated a little. I enjoyed each one of the kink scenes and could have appreciated more of them. This erotic romance is recommended to kinky readers who enjoy lovers reunited themes. This book is definitely recommended as a Gateway to BDSM.
