Melt My Heart, Cowboy is book 1 in the Love at the Chocolate Shop series. The series of 12 books by different authors will be set around Sage Carrigan's Copper Mountain Chocolate Shop, and it is only fitting that CJ Carmichael kick off the series, since the chocolate shop is her creation.
Rosie stayed in Marietta to look after her father, working in the chocolate shop by day and working on screen plays for her brother in her off time. Now that her father is gone, all she has to do is sell her house and she can make the move to Los Angeles. Her impending move doesn't stop her from being intrigued by the cowboy that comes in at the same time every week to by the same box of chocolates. Brant was happy with his life, then his mother died in an accident, leaving him the sole caretaker of his autistic sister. He doesn't know how to deal with her, or have a home of his own to bring her to when the care center tells him she doesn't belong there. When Brant asks Rosie to help with his sister, it sets in motion not only a friendship with Rosie and Brant, but also with Sara Maria, his sister.
This is a sweet romance that helps two people discover that the plan they had for life may not be the right one. Rosie also helps Brant realize that, despite her autism, his sister isn't the same little girl he remembered living with.
The characters were fun and the story was a good one to curl up with, preferably with a cup of hot chocolate. I loved meeting new characters and visiting those we have seen before. I can't wait to see what life has in store for Portia, who comes home to Marietta and starts work at the shop
On this occasion no review as it unfortunately didn't work for me.
Rosie is waiting for a special cowboy who comes in every Friday before the store closes and buys a box of chocolate. She wonders who he is buying the chocolates for and wants him to try different chocolates. But he always gets the same thing and never tries new flavor. At least she will be moving to LA as soon as her childhood home is sold. She is not planning to stay in Marietta since no family member is in Marietta.
Finally Brant, mystery cowboy comes in and ask for help with his sister in exchange for repairing her house. He needed someone to watch over his highly functioning autistic sister. He had to come back since he lost his mother who took care of his sister. He didn’t know what to do with his sister so she thought Rosie would be perfect for his sister.
What Brant didn’t know was his sister is not helpless as he thinks she is. She is definitely smart and likes her routines but she is not like what Brant think she is. When Rosie decided to help out Brant by going out with both them. Sara Maria struck a friendship with Rosie and her dog.
But Rosie’s time in Marietta’s is running out and she is finally getting closer to Brant and his sister. Now she has to decide if she will stay or move to L.A.
It was great start of this series. I did enjoy reading about all of the characters and different aspect of autistic person in a story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Melt my Heart, Cowboy is the first book in the Love at the Chocolate Shop series. This was a truly sweet read that had both romance & family drama. I thought the author, CJ Carmichael, did a fantastic job introducing a special needs character but not letting that story take away or over shadow the book.
I look forward to the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed the book, it has everything I love in a novel from start to finish. I can’t wait to read what the author has planned next!
Rosie falls for Brant just as she's about to leave town and reinvent herself. Brant is willing to give up love for her happiness. Somewhere along the way, they both find a little compromising can go a long way. Rosie also helps Brant find a way to allow his special needs sister, Sara Maria, find the independence she needs. Beautifully written story.
"Melt My Heart, Cowboy" by CJ Carmichael is book number one in the "Love at the Chocolate Shop" series. This is Brant Willingham and Rosie Linn's story.
Rosie is working at the Chocolate Shop until she can sell her home then she is moving to LA for a new career.
Brant is a cowboy working and living in the bunk house on a ranch. His mother has passed away and now he is responsible for the care of his autistic sister. At this time she is in a care facility but needs more in her life than what the care facility can give her. Brant is really frustrated because he just doesn't know how to deal with this situation.
Brant gets Rosie to help with his sister. Since Rosie is spending so much time with Brant's sister they end spending time together. There is an attraction and chemistry between them. But, should they start a relationship since she will be moving as soon as her house sells plus Brant has to consider his sister's needs?
I enjoyed Brant and Rosie's story. This is a sweet and heartwarming story. The story also brought awareness to the challenges that families experience in dealing with autism.

A simmering story of a hot cowboy and the woman that owns a chocolate shop that steal his heart...yep, a definite MUST read! I loved the environment I found myself in as I was reading this book. It felt like I was in the shop working with our heroine and feeling the things she did and walked where she did and fell in love with the sexy cowboy like she did. I loved the scents, sounds, sights that were described in what I thought, was perfect detail. This romance is one of a kind and I am so glad to have picked this story up and read it. The cover is what first piqued my interest but it was the story itself that swept me away. It was perfectly balanced and the characters were well developed. The romance is beautiful and so darn sweet. LOVED IT!
Melt My Heart, Cowboy did not, in fact, melt my heart. Rosie seemed horribly judgmental, Brant came across as terribly cold-hearted, and Sara Maria was the poor put-upon sister.
I struggled with Rosie because she seemed to be all over the place: chocolate shop clerk, screenwriter, carer. She had so many roles that none of them were fleshed out. Her relationship with her brother was supposed to be very good but the only time he was mentioned was in conjunction to their work.
Brant just wanted some time for himself without the problems of a special needs sister but he alternately came across as cold or as self-pitying. He had a decided lack of chemistry with Rosie and such a terrible relationship with Sara Maria it was breathtakingly awful.
Sara Maria is a special needs adult who alternately couldn't spell a word and yet could read and understand Kant. She loves to bake pies but doesn't like to eat them. She has monumental breakdowns but feels she should be on her own. She is a study in contrasts.
With characters I could not remotely get into and a tepid plotline with no angst unless it surrounded Sara Maria, I just couldn't get into this book. I finished it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
