This is the first book in the series, although I read the 2nd one first I was not confused. This is the story of Jillian, a young veterinarian, set in the 1800s. Needless to say the men are not happy to see a woman, and that is the background of the intimidation and passive violence against her. Wade, a young widower with a young daughter, owns a ranch nearby, and becomes the love interest for the story. Of course they have issues, and of course there is conflict, but the path to their HEA is interesting and fun to read. Highly recommend this book and author.
