Omg- this was a fun read. So many things to love about the book- great characters, interesting story, second chances at love, & a pink armadillo.
Kym Roberts is a fantastic story teller & I will be reading more by her!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I just love this series, the characters the town and the story line there is something for everyone in the book and it sucks you in from page 1 and holds you until the very end
A pink armadillo and a barn full of books, that's everything you really need to know!
I loved this book so much, the humour, the interplay and development of the characters and the setting is awesome.
2 huge thumbs up for this and I will continue to hype the hell out of this book and the series!!
This is a fun cozy mystery with a humorous side and great characters. Chari Rae is back in her small hometown in Texas to sell off her families bookstore business and hopes to leave town soon thereafter. When the body of her realtor is found in the bookstore Chari begins to investigate. The cast of humorous Southern voices in this book are a delight. Each character adds .to the humor and wit . You want to get to know these characters and wish the next book in the series was already in release. . Chari Rae is charming. I love the authors well crafted story and the sleuth was definitely one for avid mystery fans with all the twists and turns of a good Agatha Christie.! I loved this book and enjoyed all the introduction of Southern culture, characters and fun of a small Texas town. I look forward to the next in series. This book would make a great TV movie ! Thank you for the ARC which did not affect my review. Congratulations to the author on a great series debut. This review is cross posted on Amazon
I read this as a standalone (didn't know there was a series) and enjoyed it. You will like this if you enjoy cozies set in small towns - it's got great characters (Charli chief among them). The early part of this was a bit over the top it's funny and a quick, short read-it was perfect for a rainy afternoon. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm going to look for more from Roberts.
I really like Biblio Mysteries so I was excited to read this new series. Charli has returned home to Texas to sell the family bookstore. When she arrives she stumbles across a body and her father is missing. The small town Texas setting is full of quirky characters. Since this is the first book in the series the book spends a lot of time introducing the characters and the setting. The mystery was OK but the solution was a little weak. I look forword to reading the next book in the series. Enjoy this fun bookstore cozy mystery.
I love good mysteries about books and bookstores. For that reason alone I was excited to read Fatal Fiction. The fact that I thoroughly enjoy Kym Roberts writing style certainly counted in favor of picking this book up. I was not disappointed. Roberts creates a fun, smart main character and then peoples her world with other characters that I would want to hang out with in my spare time. To make things even better, this is the first in a hopefully very long running series. The first person POV will turn some readers off, but Roberts handled it well. There are a few lingering questions at the end, but that’s because we are seeing things through Charli’s eyes and not solving the crime. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I definitely want to spend more time with this particular cast of characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
After finishing this, I am ready for the next book in the series! I absolutely adored many of the characters. Most of the females had big Texas hairstyles and personalities to match. The addition of a pink armadillo named Princess as a pet was an unexpected surprise, and honestly after reading all the details about Princess, I can't help but wonder if they make such wonderful pets. .
Speaking of details, the author did an outstanding job of adding the little bits of information that make a book a pleasure to read. I really felt as if I could visualize the people and the settings. I enjoy cozy mysteries although some of them aren't as well written as others. This is definitely one of the best I have read.
I recommend this to mystery lovers.
