Rose is hiding from her corrupt politician ex-husband, and flees her home, with her basset hound Bella. She rents a place on the lake up north, and finds out there is someone else there already. Leo's is co-owner of the lake home, as it shares it with his brother who rented it. He tries to get her to leave, but Rose is determined to stay. Slowly, with the help of Bella, they begin to get used to each other and start to allow the sparks to fly. A good story. Both have issues to resolve, but good steady progress towards a HEA. Would recommend this book and author. Not sure why, but to be honest loved Bella's character the most.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet story of second-chance love between two people that have both experienced heartbreak. Rose/Emma is on the run from her abusive, high-profile ex-husband and needs a quiet place to rebuild her life. Leo is the half-owner of the house that she rented, trying to finish writing a novel after the death of his wife. They decide to share the house, mostly ignoring each other and healing by themselves. The thing that brings them together is Rose's dog, Bella. Their relationship slowly builds, and they work through their problems together. There is a little bit of suspense when Roses' ex comes into the picture, but for the most part it's a nice, sweet story of two people learning to love again.
