This was my first book from this author and I was pleasantly surprised by this one! The writing was really good and so were the well-developed characters! Both Roger and Kathryn had their own set of issues to work through but I loved watching them interact with each other and grow closer! I will definitely be checking out the other books by the author!
Roger had vowed to marry and he would. It was time to do his duty as a heir. Kathryn had vowed to never marry after seeing her parents marriage. Roger has it in his head he wants to marry Miss Matdelyn/Matty and her father was all for it and had the contracts written up. Matty doesn’t want to marry Roger.Roger is confused about what women want and is more comfortable on a battlefield. Kathryn had talked to Matty that night and the next morning went in Matty’s room to find her gone. Roger and Kathryn set out to find Matty to bring her back. Roger is a romantic at heart and would like to marry for love and have a great marriage like his parents. But it hadn’t happened so he was prepared to marry Matty. But Matty and Roger have nothing in common and Matty seems afraid of him. Roger had met Kathryn when she was out jousting on her horse Striker. As Matty ran away as she didn’t want to marry Sir Roger Matty’s and Kathryn’s father Sir Rouce offers Kathryn for marriage to Sir Roger. Kathryn liked Roger more and more as she spent time with him and got to know him as did did Roger her. Kathryn’s father often beat her and her mother and Kathryn tried to take as many beatings as she could for her mother and Matty.
I liked this book. I chuckled at different times . I liked that Kathryn and Roger’s relationship took time to develop. I also loved how Kathryn was protective of her mother and sister. and tried to take their punishment when she could. Rather than see them beaten by Royce. This did drag at times. I loved the twists and turns of this story and really liked the ending, I liked the characters and I recommend.
