Didn't finish due to blatant sexual harassment; not my vibe. Disappointed by the inappropriate content.
I love a good stepbrother romance, they’re taboo but when written right they’re so good.
Whilst I enjoyed the tripe, I found myself skimming through the pages, the story didn’t captivated me throughout the whole book but the story was there.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book which I received through Netgalley.
I really liked this story.
I liked that this didn't start like a lot of romances I read - with an immediate uncontrollable sexual tension or hatred between the hero and heroine. I did find some of the scenes strange and unnecessary, adding nothing to the story. But overall good plot and decent execution.

A quick and easy stepbrother romance. Brooklyn travels to Hawaii for her mothers wedding. She meets a hot and sexy surfer in a cowboy hat and she gets him to give her surf lessons. When she gets to the rehearsal dinner she is introduced to her future stepbrother who just happens to be the hot and sexy surfer she was with earlier.
Cute story between Brooklyn and Adam. Keeps you entertained throughout. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Donovan in the future.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
loved it thank you so much it was such a great story just could not put it down
This was a sexy fast stepbrother romance read. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out because you just never know but I was pleasantly surprised. What happens when to people meet and there is an instant attraction, and then they both realize that their parents are getting married? Will they do everything in their power to stay away from each other or will they realize love know no boundaries? Thank you NetGalley and Claire Donovan for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.
I would give this book a 3.5 rating. The story was good, I enjoyed it. It was nice, light, a fun beach read. I felt the end was a little rushed though.
It is a well written book about forbidden love with suspense. The twists of betrayal from family and friends tells a tale of true love that is meant to be. It is passionate with just the right amount of comedy and heat! Enjoyable read.
This a quick read with a fast paced story line. Brooklyn is in Hawaii for her mother's wedding. She meets a surfer guy(Adam) on the beach. There is instant attraction and they spend the day together. Later they discover that their parents are getting married to each other. They hide their attraction and vow to stay away from each other. After many starts and stops, they come out to each other about their feelings. The romance blossoms amid a persistent ex, secrets and business deals. It was cute story with some sexy scenes.
Hilo is set in Hawaii, following a forbidden romance between Brooklyn and Adam.
Brooklyn, from New Jersey, travels to Hawaii to attend her mother's wedding.
Before the wedding, she has a run-in with Adam and his best friend, Dean-O.
They chemistry between them is sizzling, even from the very start. In just the span of one day, they connect on an unbelievable level through put-put golf and a steamy surf lesson, which is cut short by an encounter with a dangerous sea creature. That night is when they discover that they are soon-to-be related. Adam is perfectly fine with this revelation, but Brooklyn has a harder time coming to terms.
This book is about forbidden love, sexy and erotic at the same time.
There are a few steamy scenes.
Thumbs up🤗
This was a rough read. The extremes made it hard to finish but I plugged along hoping for a turn for the better. Brooklyn and Adam have no chemistry, she runs hot to cold - loving him and then hating him for no real reason. She's bitchy to Isabelle while she's feeling remorseful for sleeping with her stepbrother. She has never surfed but is riding waves instantly and wanting to surf the toughest waves around. She's bitchy to her mother but has flown from NJ to attend her wedding and then has no problem taking her stepfathers money for design school....the list goes on. I should have stopped when I realized it was going to be a task to finish.
Brooklyn travels to Hawaii for her mother's wedding and meets up with a surfer dude (in a cowboy hat!) who gives lessens at the hotel where she is staying. Turns out, his father is marrying her mother. I did love Adam! And actually, I really loved Brooklyn too. Their communication with each other was completely open, although I didn't really love the "insta-attraction". This story has kinda been done before, but it was a cute read.
This book was okay. I really can't decide on how much I enjoyed it though. The book was definitely steamy but I wasn't sure I was following the story correctly. I'm not a big fan of step-brother books ut thought I'd take a chance. This one was definitely filled with drama & excitement but that their relationship was indecent is wrong & they didn't fight very hard to make people see their side....they just gave up & moved on.
Wow, is this an odd book. The characters come across as sweet at moments, but then there's really graphic sexual descriptions plus the taboo of step-siblings, it's just a weird fit.
I liked this book. It was a cute book about a girl falling for a guy and finding out he is her step-brother. There is so miscommunication along the way that make you want to scream communicate people. But I truly liked and enjoy reading this book. It was a fast read and it flowed well. Good read.
DNF around 30%. I really wanted to finish this but it was just bad. In the beginning I thought this was going to be a decent read regardless of the whole step brother/step sister thing. It completely lost me at the rehearsal dinner or whatever it was, I mean Brooklyn was super jealous and she just met the guy. Adam I could completely do Without, I mean he seemed like a jerk In the beginning. He was doing way too much play around with her when he first met her on the beach. The whole making out and touching at the rehearsal dinner (Sorry I can't even remember what it was) was too much too fast. While I was reading I had every intention of finishing but I just couldn't.
Brooklyn and Adam meet and sparks fly. They don't know until later that they will be stepbrother and stepsister. Adam does not care if they are he wants Brooklyn. Brooklyn wants Adam but she knows it is wrong.
Wow. I loved this book. I don't know why but step-brother romance books are some of my favorite books to read and Hilo did not disappoint. Hilo is great in that Adam and Brooklyn meet and end up liking each other before they even realize they are to become step siblings. They give up a lot to be together to show love is more important than money.
The book/characters/plot wasn't engaging. Too easy to put down and not pick back up.
