A reporter..and a park ranger ...a very old mystery...can love be far behind? I love VK Powell.

While I like this author, Lone Ranger didn't really do it for me. The mystery storyline was well-written and solid but as a romance the chemistry between the two leads wasn't coming through and I didn't think they were particularly likeable or relatable. Some of the supporting characters (like Ann) were more interesting and likeable.

I really enjoyed this unconventional mystery. About half-way I reached a point where I couldn't put it down any more and I just had to find out what happened.

The love story part captured me less, I didn't feel the strong connection I was reading about. 3 1/2 stars.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I like VK Powell and have read almost all of her books. This book started out great, but very different than I am used to with Powell. I liked Emma a lot, and that connection kept me going, the premise and plot of this book was great and kept me interested. It was some of the secondary characters that kept away from the five-star rating. Mostly Billie, her attitude, and obnoxiousness had me wanting to skip some pages; it just didn't seem plausible that Carter would be with her and even trust her more than Emma. That rubbed me the wrong way and lost that fifth star. Overall this was a great read, and the romance was sweet, the mystery even better.
