A great romance suspense/police novella, well written and interesting. It stands alone, even though it's part of a small series with author Kendra Elliott. I would recommend that if you can, read the books in order for the best reading experience. My thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC. Note that I also borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited and listened to the included audio and the narrator was excellent.

This sleepy town of Solitude is about to get woken up again as a popular reality TV star who was in town filming his cop show Chase Ryan has turned up murdered and then on top of that, the night before a female stalker tried to bomb and set fire to a barn which contained Carly and Seth's daughter Brianna inside. Brianna is nice and safe and Toby who was Chase's friend and assistant is sitting in prison after confessing to the murder and the stalker is off in the wind. It seems they have things nicely tied up but of course, things are never that simple in Solitude, Oregon as our first incident happens when Seth and his partner are transporting Toby in the back of their squad car and they are hit by a truck. The book then has Seth and his friends on the force hunting down for Toby who is now on the run. Meanwhile, Carly has her hands full as our stalker had a young daughter Alex who has now run away from the home that Carly had placed her in. Carly believes she is on the run to meet up with her mother and in danger. However, what happens when Carly learns that everything was an act and that looks and judgments can be deceiving and she finds herself in danger as someone out there is determined to finish Alex's aka Chase Ryan's last episode as the show finished on a cliffhanger and now Carly and Toby are the main attractions.
Burned by her Devotion was another good mystery from Melinda Leigh and if you are looking for a new US Mystery author to add to your reading lists, you won't be disappointed with Melinda Leigh.

After the tv star’s murder Seth is in charge of keeping watch over the killer before he is transported. Stevie and Zane are on their honeymoon he’s the only local equipped to deal with a confessed murderer while the other officers handle there’s of the policing. All Seth wants to do is spend time with his family but those plans go awry. His wife social worker wife Carly is having problems too when the daughter of an arsonist/stalker recently moved into the care of social services. Nothing surrounding this case or the people involved in the life of the deceased man is easy even after it’s been closed. The confession should have been the end of it, right? Or is it just the beginning of troubles for the small town? Is the murderer the one who confessed or is something else going on? Seth’s instincts say something is off and the murderer’s escape doesn’t help things.

I like this book and the one before it and since it’s part of a separate prior series that I haven’t read I plan to go back to read those too. Very good keeps your attention from start to finish.

RATING: 4 STARS
(I received an ARC from the NETGALLEY)
(Review Not on Blog)

First off, Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh both work on the Rogue series. There are two series before this one, Rogue River (4 novellas) and Rogue Winter (2 novellas). These novellas are based in Solitude, Oregon about 4 characters. Two are sisters, one is a police officer, Stevie and the other is a social worker, Carly. Stevie is dating police chief, Zane and Carly is married to Investigator Seth. Each Rogue spinoff has a different crime.

In these two novellas we have the four investigating a murder of a TV star that is bringing the paparazzi to the small town. As the four try to solve the murder they seem to be getting closer to danger. I love these quick romantic-suspense novellas. They are perfect for a quick satisfying read.

This book is the sequel to Death and her devotion. Just when you think its all over, things are about to reach a dramatic conclusion. Chase Ryan's killer is abducted on his way to jail. Someone has their own plans for him. Detective Seth is on the case, he has a killer and a kidnapper to catch. Plenty of twists and turns before reaching a climax. Melinda Leigh keeps you on your toes right to the end.
I highly suggest you read these novellas in order. Recommended for fans of romantic suspense.

This novella gives us more of Solitude and Seth and Carly. I can never get enough of these two great characters, and along with them comes a suspenseful story that keeps me captivated, and a great setting! I loved this super short novella that was really quick to read!

The Rogue Vows Novellas are a continuation of the story begun in the Rogue River series. Detective Seth Harding is accompanying the detective taking the man who confessed to the murder in the first book to prison. When the police car is side swiped by a transport, the prisoner disappears. Did he escape? Was he rescued or has he been kidnapped?

This short story is continued from the book by Kendra Elliott "Death and Her Devotion". This novella is action packed. I did not put it down from start to finish. The characters were pretty much the same, except for the switch to Detective Seth Harding as the investigating officer and his wife Carly Taylor (Stevie's sister) involved in a child protection case. The story moves quickly and keeps you turning the pages. This was an enjoyable read. This book brings the whole stalker issue, that is facing many celebrities, to the forefront and takes it to the extreme of what could happen. This is a book that can be read in one sitting, but YOU MUST read Death and hHr Devotion first. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I have to say this was one helluva read. I got the audiobook and let's just say, this was a quick read/listen. As with the other Rogue Novellas it was top notch.

Carly and Seth are left in town and the craziness of a big named Hollywood actors death, a crazy stalker, and a lot of "wtf" moments. With each chapter re amount of action packed intensity and heart wrenching angst the story unfolds into a big ball of chaos.

The stalker, oh that gal is one shade of crazy everyone should avoid. Cindy, now that girl is Jack Nicholson in the shining kind of crazy. One pea too many had left that shell.

There were more and more moments that had me literally on the edge of my seat. I had it all figured out.... then, I was wrong. Lol

I can't wait to see what these authors do for the next installments. I love this series so much. One of my absolute favorites.

This is a two-part story by Melinda Leigh written with Kendra Elliot. Book 1, by Author Elliot introduces us to the town of Solitude Police Chief and his fiance and assistant, Stevie, who are to be married within days. All of the planning must take a back seat when there is a murder at a campground in the small community. The victim is a famous TV star which brings the paps like a swarm of locusts. Solitude has had more than their fair share of tragedy and there is nothing simple about this investigation.
Book 2 picks right up where 1 ended and I don't think this can easily be read as a standalone novella. The chief of police and his new wife managed to be married despite every effort of a yet unidentified villan to create havoc with a fire and one bad act following another. Following the wedding, Stevie's brother-in-law is supervising the accused murderer until his transfer. An accident, injured deputy, missing suspect as well as missing witnesses, attempted murder with non-stop action. Just when you believe you understand what is happening, another twist or revelation humbles you. There is absolutely no place where it is safe to put this story down and get a drink or any other sort of reading break. The story demands to be read. It needs to be told.

Before reading this book I read the first in the Rogue Vows Series. That was a great book. The fact that the both books are set in Oregon really interest me because I'm headed to Oregon myself the first part of January. I enjoyed getting to know Seth's character more in this book. The twist and turns in the story of an investigation that was thought to have been closed, was even more interesting to me. A person will have to read the first novel in the series to be a better understanding of the story line. Also, I didn't understand why this was such a short story.
