Darynda Jones is and always will be one of my favorite authors. Her talent is truly remarkable
and the world she crated in this series is simply amazing.

This series gets better and more complicated with every book and 'Eleventh Grave in Moonlight' is the best so far. The ending was so wonderfully surprising and I Can. Not. Wait. for the next book!

I love Charlie's character because she has this extraordinary unique personality and the story the author created around her is really fascinating. Presenting all these gods and their powers and the alternate dimensions, without dropping too much information on the reader all at once, is truly a remarkable feat and the author manages it perfectly.
Actually, that was one of the few things that bothered me about this series: the fact that Charlie is supposed to be such a powerful and feared character but she basically knows nothing about what she is and what she can to. With each book we are given only a little bit of information. It's kind of frustrating. But obviously it has a purpose.

Yes, at times Charlie is a bit childish and seems like she doesn't take the situation seriously most of the time, but that is part of her charm. Also, her insecurity in her relationship with Reyes and the lack of communication between them is kind of annoying.

But still, this book was awesome and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.
This book is a must-read for fans of the series.

Eleventh Grave In Moonlight
Charley Davidson, Book 11

I Picked Up This Book Because: I simply love Charley Davidson. I aspire to be her when I grow up, married to the son of satan and all.

The Characters:

Charley Davidson Farrow: god, dreamer, lover of coffee
Reyes Farrow: hottest fictional man on earth.

Co-starring: Cookie, Uncle Bob, Amber, Angel and a ton of others.

The Story:

Charley is, as usual, doing Charley things. Discovering secret cults, eating gods from other dimensions and finding new ways to get down and dirty with her hubby, Reyes Farrow. Seriously, how does she find herself in such human messes? I’m really liking learning about Charley’s godly side. It’s surprise after surprise.

If I’m recalling correctly Ms Jones left us on a hell of a cliff hanger. I need book twelve STAT!

The Random Thoughts:

4 Stars

With any long-running series, there's always a risk that books will become formulaic. In the case of the Charley Davidson series, yes - it has become formulaic, there's become an apparent pattern to these books especially the later installments. Formulaic and pattern aren't always a bad thing and in fact, it's almost comforting because I know what to expect - Charley juggling cases while also trying to balance life; Reyes instructing Charley on her god-self and trying to finally get her to harness and use her powers appropriately; bits and pieces of the war of the future and all the people that will act like pieces to make the puzzle complete. At this point in the series, we know Beep is destined for something huge. That's no longer a mystery and instead, the mystery now lies on who exactly will align with her, what role they will play, and the end result. The end result is still very much unknown, but the road to battle is being paved with every new installment.

When we left Charley and the gang in Tenth Grave, Reyes' time as a god was finally unveiled, as was his brother, Jehovah. Yes, THE Jehovah. Reyes' past isn't as simple as he makes it out to be, and I love that slowly but surely, his true identity is being shown. Granted, it's a minuscule bit at a time, but still. Combine that with the fact that somehow, someway, two gods met and fell in love - one revered, one feared, and one of them is the most powerful god ever made. Seeing Charley come to the realization that she is the most powerful being, the reaper and the godeater, is one of my favorite aspects and I love the amount of growth she's showing in each installment with her god-self. Her human-self is just as immature and hilarious as always, which provides much needed comic relief in the midst of the supernatural shit-storm.

So why not 5 stars? The communication issue, or lack thereof, is growing tiresome on my end. It's becoming a plot-device, and a cheap one at that. Charley and Reyes (and Charley and Ubie), have already discussed bettering their communication skills, but they've yet to actually act on it. It's frustrating on the part of the reader because we've gone through this song and dance. Plenty of times, and it's become obvious that the secrets and lies and evasion tactics seem like unnecessary ploys to create unnecessary tension. Not to mention, at this point in the game where the fate of seemingly everything is resting on Charley's, Reyes', and Beep's shoulders, they should be working together more rather than keeping secrets.

Still - Eleventh Grave is a solid 4 star read. The big picture is still slowly coming into focus, but I don't think that it'll take center stage any time soon. Especially not with the ending that Darynda graced us with, and I'm using graced in the most sarcastic form possible. Such uncertainty awaits the fate of our favorite gods, and I can't wait to see exactly how that's going to resolve itself.

Once again Darynda Jones has done an amazing job bringing Charlie Davidson and her gang to life. Got to learn a little more about Reyes' past and learn what more Charles can do. With plans that don't always go as planned , Charlie's quirky personality, and of course some steamy scenes (that could just be cause Reyes). I'm not going to give the ending of this book away but let's just say I soo can't wait for the next book to come out (major cliff hanger).

Darynda Jones has outdone herself with this one. Just when I think they can't get any better, she always suprises me and delivers an action packed, funny, amazing story. I am still just as in love with this series and its characters as I was when I read the very first one. Now I just need to have the 12 the book! Everyone should be reading this series and this book!

Finally the book that I have been waiting for because as much as I've enjoyed the previous episodes in Charleys life I'm the first to admit her exuberant often teenlike behaviour has stymied my belief in her relationship. Yes I am referring to her often cow like batting of eyes when her husband Reyes comes into view. Yes he is gorgeous, apparently sex on a stick but his taciturn acceptance of Charleys crazy ways often leaves me stumped!
Anyway onto the plot. There is so much converging here that I'm at a loss to know what to say without letting the proverbial feline out of the bag. Ok we know Charley and Reyes are Gods and Reyes knows a lot more about their history than he's letting on. Plus Charleys daytime job as a Private Investigator often sends her on wild adventures, well this time it's a lot more personal as her latest client has a huge connection to Reyes. Add in the fact that her uncle is definitely up to something and then there's the non too little matter of a certain God who is still out hunting for Charleys hidden daughter. See ? Its a fabulous story with so many threads but don't discount the human aspect because not all evil resides in hell!
I truly loved seeing Charley grow in this book and yes she's still full of funny one liners but there is a new maturity to her here. If it's the relationship she shares with Reyes that excites you then be prepared for Heat that quite rightly starts with a capital H as Charley gets a crash course in just what her powers can really do! There are quiet moments when the author tugs on the readers heartstrings and I will never view a simple hug quite the same way again but then we are off and running again as Charley and Reyes hurtle to a shock ending that will have readers gnashing their teeth! Roll on the next book because it's going to be a doozy.
I was given a copy of this and voluntarily read it. These comments are my honest opinion

I have waited so long (several months) for this book to finally come out and I was not disappointed!! Darynda Jones keeps you hooked from the beginning and then blindsides you with plots twists that make you keep reading! If you have loved Charley and Reyes in the past, then you just got to find out how it all goes down! I highly recommend this read to all Charley fans!! And the ending Omg!!! Thanks for the opportunity to read this before it actually is released!!

I love the Charley Davidson series and each book seems to get better than the last. This one did not break that pattern in the least. It was hilarious, heart breaking, astonishing and edge of your seat thrilling and the cliff hanger at the end...
WOW! I can't wait to read the next book and I certainly hope Darynda keeps writing these books because I will certainly keep reading them.

The Charley Davidson urban fantasy series is one whose books I completely devour. I love Charley, melt over Reyes and adore the secondary characters from demons to besties. Eleventh Grave in Moonlight brings us one step closer to the conclusion of this series and with it comes revelations, turmoil and a cliffhanger ending that has left me anxious for book twelve.

At this stage of the game, it is seriously hard to keep this spoiler free for those not caught up in the series. However, I have made every effort to do so. If you haven't read this series, go directly to your bookstore, library, online retailer or audio store and pick up First Grave of Right. I own the series in hardcover but plan to do a complete re-read on audio.

In Eleventh Grave in Moonlight, Charley is worked about keeping Uncle Bob alive, investigating the Fosters, handing a stalker case, and dealing with a God on the same plan. In other words, things are perfectly normal. Just add coffee and the sizzling hot son of Satan.

Unlike the turmoil in Curse of Tenth Grave, things felt a little more mellow. Say hello to snuggle time with Reyes and some traveling. Jones used these moments as a lesson for both Charley and the reader as we begin to understand Charley's powers. These scenes fed my inner nerd, but there was also an incredible intimacy. It captures the trust and love between Reyes and Charley. It was both beautiful and mind-blowingly hot! While miscommunication still dogs this couple, we see them make some strides here.

Some of the threads in the last few novels were closed and with them came some intense action scenes, high body counts. We also gained some more knowledge and had questions answered. Of course, Jones had to add in a few. I thought the thread and closure to the Foster case were well done. The case involving the stalker was an interesting one, and we got to see Charley test some of the lessons she learned. Dealings with the God were hard on Charley, but oh momma did we learn things. Like how Charley became a reaper! Yep, you need to bump this up your reading list!

With everything that is happening, Charley is still Charley, and we do get moments of laughter and snark. I continue to love the quotes and memes at the beginning of each chapter and Charley's quirky way of naming body parts and inanimate objects.

For me, Eleventh Grave in Moonlight was brilliantly paced and showcases the many sides of Charley. I enjoyed the wealth of information and closure of threads. You can feel Jones moving us to the final book(s). It has me both ecstatic and nervous. Jones always ends her books with something jaw-dropping or with a one-line zinger that has you screaming what?!? All I can say is I cannot wait until The Trouble With Twelfth Grave release October 31, 2017. (Psstt. Don't read the synopsis of 12 until you read 11..it will spoil it for you)

Charley is a riot! I loved this book. The opener is PERFECT. It got me. And there's a quick rundown of the players and dimensions/planes that I needed explained again and now makes better sense to me. There are a few different twists going on all at once and most of her loyal and tight friends make a showing and Charley is as funny as ever. It is brilliant how the author puts everything together. This is one of my favorite series!

Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and Darynda Jones for this ARC. This is an honest review. For me, this book was all over the place. To many new characters, a bit confusing, to much unnecessary explicit sex. We know their a hot couple, no need to accentuate that .Some storylines were great, some smaller ones seem like we've been that route already in a previous book.
Not the authors best book, but I still love Charlie. Will read book 12 to see if it's going someplace different.

I don't ever want Darynda to quit Charley. After 11 books, Darynda shows readers with this book that she still has it! Somehow for every book she can come up with an amazing individual plot line that sucks readers into the novel itself, and an overarching plot line that keeps readers wanting more from the series. For me personally, I think 11th Grave had one of the best individual plot lines of the whole series and added so much intrigue to the overarching plot line. I'll admit, I thought it started off kind of slow but that did not last long. And that ending...wow!! I honestly did not expect that! Darynda keeps throwing in these wrenches in Charley and Reyes story but it works!
My only complaint, and it has been the same for the last few books, is Charley's sarcasm. What once was charming is now slightly annoying. She is sarcastic at the worst times, times that aren't even funny, and her naming of everything is getting on my nerves. Charley needs to pick better moments to insert her sarcasm.

5 stars.

Once again Darynda Jones delivers an awesome story in the Charley Davidson series. Eleventh Grave in the Moonlight has OMG moments, LOL moments, heart stopping moments and sigh moments. The chemistry between Charley and her husband (and son of Satan) Reyes is intense. Trying to protect their daughter and save the world from destruction while Charley still has her P.I. business leads to some jaw dropping twists and turns. And the ending....WOW!

Darynda is an evil, evil, writing GENIUS! Each book keeps getting better and better and Eleventh Grave isn't any exception. I love the play between all the characters and how they continue to develop. Just one thing...HOLY SMOKES what an ending!! When is Twelfth Grave?!

Thanks St. Martin's Press and netgalley for this ARC.

With this book my faith in this series is back full force. Can't wait for more adventures with Charley and her crew. I love the humor, friendship, and passion in this series.

This book is what I would consider to be a bridge book. It moves the story along slightly as far as plot line, but fills in a lot of details about past, present and future events. And you're clearly moving towards something epic that requires a lot of ground work to be set. That being said, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Eleventh Grave in Moonlight. And it is vital to the over-arching plot we've been following.

At the end of Tenth Grave, Charley regained her memory, trapped one of the 3 big bad gods in a god glass and learned her sexy, Son of Satan husband, was actually created from 1 of the other gods. Just another day in the life of Charley Davidson, PI/Grim Reaper/Goddess. Oh, and she also threatened the Almighty Jehovah that she was going to wrest his control of the world and take it over herself. Good one, Charley. Piss off God himself. You clearly didn't think that one through.

At the beginning of Eleventh Grave, Charley has taken on a case that Reyes doesn't approve of. As usual, Charley does what Charley wants, and somehow always manages to squeak by and be right. This case hits close to home and we all know how Reyes hates to drudge up the past. Pair that with a truly horrible situation happening to one of her favorite people, and it is clear that Charley can never live a normal boring life. And if you think thought that was as bad as it is going to get, hang on until the last line of the book, "And then I realized the truth. I may have just made the biggest mistake of my entire existence. I may have unleashed hell on earth."

Once again, Ms. Jones has made us fall in love with every second of Charley's life. But it can't be understated how essential and wonderful are all of the other characters in her life. Charley wouldn't be half of what she is without her partners in crime. I can't wait to see they help Charley handle this latest kink in her master plan to take over the world.

Love conquers all, sure, but the future is looking pretty bleak for the Reaper, the Son of Satan and the Daughter of Light.

http://librarytalker.blogspot.com/2017/01/eleventh-grave-in-moonlight.html

She can't look in on her daughter for fear that demons will follow her light and destroy her precious Beep to curry favor with Lucifer for ending the life of an infant who is prophesized to one day destroy him.

She can't figure out why her uncle wants her to stay home and/or why he's basically ignoring his wife and her bestie, making sadness abound.

She can't understand why her almost too-hot-to-handle-hubby wants her to drop a case.

She can't come up with a way to release the souls trapped in a hell dimension that she wears around her neck.

She can't figure out how to help her bestie's daughter to learn how to control her prophesizing powers while also catching the stalker who's sending her truly evil texts.

And she definitely can't figure out how to get rid of the angels that are following her everywhere.

With all the things that she can't do, will she ever be able to get used to the idea that she is a god?

Final thoughts: Yet another entry and still more amazing Charley. I really love this character and her sassiness. I REALLY wish there was a place to buy all the t-shirts mentioned at the chapter headings. My only issue... and it's pretty darn big... is that this one is a freakin' CLIFFHANGER!!!! Ugh! Why couldn't the last chapter of this book have been the first chapter of the next instead? Why do I now have to sit around and wait to find out what happens?!?!?! Sooooooo cruel!!!

As a devoted reader and Grimlet I really enjoyed this installment. I believe that if you picked this book up never having read one of the previous books you would enjoy it and not be lost at all. Darynda does a great job of setting up the back story without overdoing it. This book is well written. The characters are some of my favorite. I do have to say that I will there were a bit fewer sub-plots going on, it gets a bit hard to keep track. All in all, I enjoyed and can't wait for the next (hurry up October 31st). I will warn you, though, there is one heck of a cliff hanger...

Thanks Darynda, Net Galley, and St.Martin's press for giving me the amazing opportunity to read this book.

J'ai eu la chance de recevoir une copie de ce livre en avance par le site Netgalley et j'ai directement plongé dessus car c'est une série que j'adore!

Dès les toutes premières phrases du tome j'étais happée, le ton était donné :
"I lay on a psychiatrist's couch, a couch I'd named Alexander Skarsgård the moment my glaze landed on its buttery curves and wide back, and wondered if I should tell Dr. Mayfield about the dead kid scurrying across her ceiling. Probably not. "

The series is continuing well

I read the first book of this series and loved it but this is the 11th book and I wondered how much I would get. While I missed a lot of stuff, I still enjoyed the book. Darynda Jones tells a great story with very snappy wording. The dialogue is excellent. Her characters are well developed and the action sequences are well paced. The plot had some twists and turns but was still easy to follow. Most importantly, as with the first book, this was just a fun book to read. And Jones slips in some Easter eggs, so thank you for that, Darynda.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes.
