Greenleaf Book Group Press and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Dream Big. I voluntarily chose to review this children's book and my opinion is freely given.

The animals discover the secret that lights the star within their hearts, as the Baboon doubts that they can become what they dream.

Dream Big is well illustrated, but I was not a fan of the text or the way the premise is presented. The text is wordy and, at times, does not get the point across quickly. The author ignores the science of the transformation in each of the animals, putting that information in small print at the bottom of the page. The book is misleading, saying that the animals believe in themselves and their dreams to make changes happen, but that is biology at work. It is great to aspire for more and to have dreams, but the author misses the opportunity to convey that point to children. Had the author given each of the animals aspirations of becoming something more than their biology dictated, the book would have been more successful. For these reasons, I would not recommend Dream Big to other readers.

This was an ok book. It had a good message, but was hard to ready and follow. It didn’t really flow that well, but it does have wonderful illustrations.

This is a children's picture book that I got through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book.. Both the story and the illustrations are great. It ha such a great moral, too. I wish this book was around when my son was a little boy. He would have loved it!

Dream Big is a very sweet story about animals trying to make their wishes come true. I like that the authors add scientific facts with each new animal that has a wish. I also appreciate that not only do they add scientific facts, they add valuable self guidance at the end. (Self Help) And it shows kids that we are all made of star-stuff.

This is a cute book about animals achieving their dreams and thus encouraging little ones to believe they can do anything.

This book fell a little flat for me, unfortunately. It is a cute premise and the message that you can do anything comes across loud and clear. However, it's a bit cheesey... pre-k and kindergarten ages might not be bothered by that, but it's a bit word-y for them. It might be a good read-aloud for those ages if you encouraged students to clap and chant along the repetitive bits. (I actually thought that was a cute idea!) But I still feel like it could be edited up a bit to be more engaging for that age-group.

Thank you to Netgalley.com and the publisher for a copy of this ebook.

First, I want to say it seems like a good story but I couldn't read it because of technical issues. I had this book sent to my Kindle and it was so tiny and dark I couldn't see it even with my glasses and a magnifying glass. So the 1 star is not for the book but for the issue of not being able to read it.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The illustrations in this text are vivid and vibrant, and will be instantly engaging to the reader. This book isn't just about dreaming, big, it's about dreaming the seemingly impossible. Animals dream of incredible transformations that seem well beyond their grasp, but which come true. Some readers may find it provides children a little bit of false hope, but I think it opens the door more for some science connections, than it does lead them astray.

This story is so much fun and so inspiring at the same time.
I love how each creature gets reminded that their dreams can come true and that the only one holding them back was themselves for a lack of trying. It is a hopeful story and one that I bet has some great illustrations! Many thanks to #netgalleybooks for allowing me to read this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I truly enjoyed this and would love to see the full published edition.
On my grandkid's tbr it goes!

The message in the book is positive. Animals start out wanting certain things or having certain attitudes and wish on a star, then get what they want. The message is great, but gives the idea that all children have to do is wish on a star to get or become anything. While it is positive to tell children they can be anything, the wishing on a star for let’s say, superpowers like a superhero, that aren’t possible, can be a let down for a child. I think the activities and ideas for kids to do at the end is good. I wish there had been illustrations of the animals as they talked. The pictures of a star with messages was really nice, but there needs to be other art for children to see the animals throughout the book. I received an ARC for my honest review. I’m grateful to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this.

I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Greenleaf Book Group in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the illustrations in this book, they are so vibrant and beautiful. This book has a great message for kids about believing in yourself and your dreams, even when others say they are impossible. I like that Kat Kronenberg puts little information tidbits about the animals at the bottom of the page, and I love the 'Notes for two-leggers of all ages' at the end of the book.

I lyrically told children's story about how you should dream. Just because you can't do something now doesn't mean you won't someday become someone who can. A caterpillar can fly. A tadpole can jump. Eventually.

I love that this is told in a fairytale/poetic way but includes facts about animals for children. I think my upper elementary kids will enjoy just reading it but I can see this as a read aloud and instructional book for primary children, as well.

For the teachers in me, I loved the instructions at the back of the book to create and extend the learning.

I wish I could be back in my classroom and share.

I only wish I could have seen the illustrations! Alas, this ARC had me creating my own.

Baboon is a grump and he puts everyone down. He makes fun of caterpillar who wishes for something grander, and tells tadpole his wishes will never be granted. As the days pass, Baboon is astonished when the very things these creatures wishes for actually comes to pass. This is a great family read as the vocabulary is a bit more advanced. Beautiful illustrations and a positive message to not let others pull them down.

This was another cute book in the series. My almost 7-year old enjoyed reading it to herself, and I heard her giggle several times. We also love the pretty covers of these books.

Long ago, when the savannas were new in the wilds of East Africa, Caterpillar looked up at the night sky and wished upon a star; he wanted to fly. Tadpole looked up at the night sky and wished upon a star; he wanted to dance. Flamingo looked up at the night sky and wished upon a star; she wanted to be beautiful.

Baboon doesn’t believe their fantastic dreams can come true, but Caterpillar turns into a butterfly, tadpole grows feet so he can dance, and Flamingo turns into a beautiful pink bird. Baboon watches this and wishes to celebrate everyone’s dream coming true while encouraging others. He gets a chance to do just that when Termite becomes so afraid that she hides. Baboon, Caterpillar, Tadpole, and Flamingo write a special song for Termite, who then builds a beautiful castle. With everyone happy, the animals celebrate with drums and pom-poms.

This mythological fable, the first in a series, reveals the secret moody Baboon discovers. A footnote provides a brief fact about each of the animals as the young reader meets each of them. The story tells young readers to believe in themselves, to dream their biggest dreams and to believe they can come true. It reminds them to celebrate their lives. Because they are made of star-stuff, they are extraordinary. A positive lesson in self-esteem, young readers are sure to read this story over and over again.

Recommended.

Dream Big by Kat Kronenberg is the first in her Live Big Trilogy. The story is uplifting, about not giving up on your dream in the face of adversity (especially someone telling you you can't). The illustrations are rich and vibrant, and bring out the warmth and energy of the book. I enjoy the twist at the end, as well. Overall, a story to warm your heart and encourage your dreams!

Where are the illustrations kids would be attracted to?? Disappointed in this book.i was thinking to download all the books in series but after reading through this one, don’t plan to.

I'm very torn on this one. It has beautiful illustrations and a good overall message--don't stop dreaming and believing in yourself--but the story implies that all you have to do is wish on a star and your dreams will come true. None of the animals put in any kind of effort or make a plan to achieve their dreams, and I don't think this is a good message to be sending to kids. I can get behind the theme of positivity, but dreams magically coming true is where I draw the line.

Dream Big is the first of three inspirational children's picture books. As soon as I opened this book on my Kindle, I wished I was holding the book in my hands. While the pictures are nice on ebook, it's obvious they are beautiful and vibrant on actual paper. I've no doubt children's attention will be riveted to the pictures as they or their parents read them this story. Dream Big encourages children to do just that - reach for the stars and dare to dream big - pursue your dreams and just maybe they'll come true. The author's message is delivered through Baboon who is skeptical as he watches a caterpillar, tadpole, and young flamingo wish upon the stars . . . and their wishes come true. Imagine his surprise! Believe in yourself and reach for the stars! It's a lesson we should all adher to. This book is beautiful to look at and beautiful to read. I've no doubt children everywhere will love it!

Great story. Beautiful artwork. A little long, could have been shortened. Font could be a bit bigger.
