Once more I was completely mesmerized by this latest book in Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalker series. POWER GAME is the 13th book in this series and every bit as memorable as the very first book I read. For those not familiar with the series the Ghostwalkers are members of an elite classified government experiment. The Ghostwalker experiment is run by a medical genetic genius, Dr. Peter Whitney whose methods leave much to be desired as he enhances the psychic abilities of an elite squadron, transforming their natural telekinetic powers into unique military weapons.

In this tome, Ms Feehan focused on Captain Ezekiel Fortunes who is called on to save some hostages that have been taken prisoner by radical terrorists. Not a difficult rescue like the many they had participated in before. The difference is that this rescue is a trap - a set-up for capture or to be killed.

Another of Dr. Peter Whitney’s super soldiers was Bellisia, who had been out on assignment and learned that one of the Ghostwalker teams (later discovering it was Ezekiel’s team) was being set up she managed to escape her handlers and made her way to New Orleans and the Louisiana Bayou to first find out if they were loyal to Whitney; and if not, she would warn them of the plot against them. What surprised both Ezekiel and Bellisia was the physical attraction that was undeniable and something they would have to deal with as many of the other Ghostwalkers had been genetically matched to one another.

As a matter of course, there are plenty of adventuresome scenes of fighting and eluding people who were out to harm the Ghostwalkers and the women and babies that were hidden in the bayou. Naturally, the triplets of Wyatt and Pepper were described beautifully leaving the reader wanting to scoop them up in your arms and hug them tight - absolutely adorable. The sensualness of Ezekiel and Bellisima was hot and steamy. And most of all the pace was quite swift in that I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting! AWESOME - AWESOME - AWESOME!!!

In Christine Feehan's POWER GAME, the 13th novel in her Ghost Walker series, Feehan really hits her stride. This series shows no signs of growing stale. Completely the opposite, as each book in the Ghost Walker's world introduces the reader to new groups of supersoldiers while keeping up with ongoing storylines. Feehan's deftness with a clean, tight story is as befits a #1 New York Times bestseller for sure. An incredible read!

In POWER GAME, Captain Ezekiel Fortunes, a doctor and supersoldier, must deal with a genetically enhanced female, a spy named Bellisia Adams. Zeke is called to lead his rescue team, but things aren't as they seem. Meanwhile, Bellisia goes rogue, escaping from her handlers at great cost to her health.

Zeke can command energy that affects his surroundings. Bellisia can go undetected and is a master assassin. The powers they possess weren't overdone and nicely complemented the other.

The villains are recognizable to readers of the overarching storyline. Peter Whitney is still around, as is Violet Freeman. But it's the heroine of this story who really shines. Feehan gives us a strong, capable woman who's as likely to save her mate as she is to save herself. And in Zeke, we get a caring, formidable hero, one who has close ties to family as well as his supersoldier, Ghostwalker brothers.

I was surprised at the ending and loved how Feehan wrapped up one thread in the series. Readers not familiar with the Ghost Walkers will be able to follow the plot without issue, but the read is richer for those with background on the characters, especially Nonny, a wonderful matriarch who provides grounding for the warriors around her.

Don't miss Christine Feehan's POWER GAME. It's an amazing read.

Zeke, a soldier with enhanced abilities, and his team mates, are going on a mission to rescue hostages. They also need to protect their families, genetically enhanced women and children, from a mad scientist who wants to capture them. Belissa escaped the lab where her DNA engineered abilities were honed since she was a child. She's never been part of a family but when she finds Zeke they realize they were literally meant to be together. Belissa and Zeke are a perfect match, but to be together, they have to overcome steep odds. Part of the Ghostwalker series, this is a great paranormal romance by a talented author.

I really enjoyed this series when it first started but found it less appealing as time went on.   This story seems to bring back  a lot of the original elements that made these stories appealing all be it with a darker note that has whetted my curiosity to see how things will unfold in the future.
The story gets off to an exciting start with the chameleon like Bellisia hiding in plain sight observing one of the ghost walkers commit treason and sell out other ghost walker teams. She has a harrowing escape from the locked down fortress and then despite her obvious pain and discomfort escapes her own team to find freedom. She returns stateside to relish new experiences while keeping a keen eye on the ghost walker team who's been exposed to the enemy.
It's the gentle Zeke who appeals to her as he spends time around the swamp singing to his team mate's daughters, telling them stories and teaching them survival skills.  Zeke is a ghost walker,  a genetically engineered super soldier who raised his brother and another orphan under the harshest of circumstances. He believes himself to be anything but gentle but Bellisia definitely bring out all that is gentle in him.
There's plenty of action and suspense.  Readers will enjoy the twists and turns as tense battle situations, give way to heroic rescues with betrayals and enemies hiding around every corner.  Bellesia rescues Zeke and at much pain to him gives him her own blood to keep him alive. It is not fun when she's repaid by being taken a prisoner by his team mates and yet her reaction when Zeke takes her out of the cell and invites her into the house is priceless.
The author has done a tremendous job in humanizing these ladies who are genetically enhanced with the DNA of some of the most dangerous creepy crawlies. Bellisia's interaction with Nonna the matriarch who rules the Fontenot family with stern love is a bittersweet delight.  She's been in Whitney's programs from when she was a baby has never known the warmth and love of a home or had friends. Her terror at the breakfast table, her joy in learning to cook make the story real and appealing.

4.5 Hearts Man how I love this series! I have been waiting for Zeke’s story. He has powers that even some of the other GhostWalkers do not have but he is so interesting. Zeke has so much to offer and is the ultimate protector to those he loves but he doesn’t feel like he deserves or will ever find love which makes me just sad… but then Bellisia comes into his life and he knows he has to protect her.

Bellisia is an amazing character. She is strong and has special abilities but she is still just a sweetheart. I found her to be my favorite character in the book. She just always held my attention. If it has been a movie she would have held my attention each time she was on screen.

Everyone is this book is great. Since this is the 13th in the series some things can be a bit of the same old same old but with this series it is more than ok. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Feehan once again brings together two powerful Ghostwalkers whose love guides them through abounding difficulties. Ezekiel and Bellisia are so well mated but was it Whitney's doing or is a natural attraction between the enhanced Ghostwalker and the pawn in Whitney's game with octopus DNA. Strong again in detail is the fantastic group at the Fontenot homestead where all those lovely people introduced earlier in the series are once again strong and supportive of their extended family. This is a fantastic addition to the Ghostwalker series.
