Katrina Jorgensen writes cookbooks aimed at children. However, her recipes are suitable for both children and adults, and are written in such a way that both children and beginning cooks will feel comfortable making every recipe in the book. After enjoying Ballpark Eats, one of Jorgensen’s other cookbooks, and trying dozens of recipes from that excellent cookbook, I was excited to try several from Fearless Food. Almost everyone knows someone with allergies, and cooking for those people can be challenging. This cookbook has something for everyone, and most of the recipes will appeal to both those with allergies and those without. The recipes avoid the Big-Eight Food Allergens.

The Thai Chicken Salad (made with breasts instead of thighs at my house) has become a quick and easy favorite, as well as the BBQ Chickpeas. The dairy-free Tzatziki is perfect on the Greek Turkey Burgers, and those without dairy allergies can even add a bit of feta cheese to their portions. Sesame Beef Skewers are in the queue, as well as Chicken Nuggets with Avocado Dip, and Cranberry Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

There is a wonderful variety of recipes; some are gluten free, some dairy free, and others in between. Even if you aren’t a kid, if you have allergies, this is a nice cookbook to pick up. The pictures are very nice, and give an idea of how each dish should look. There are mouthwatering breakfast recipes, snacks that can be made quickly, a good assortment of side dishes which include soups, salads, vegetables, etc., and very appealing main dishes. Most children really enjoy desserts, and this cookbook includes several that will appeal to everyone.

All told, you can’t go wrong with a Katrina Jorgensen cookbook. She knows her stuff and comes up with great recipes to feed everyone with or without allergies. This book is highly recommended.
