n this sequel to Escaping Perfect Cecilia Montgomery is still trying to escape the iron hand of her strict mom and her role of being America's sweetheart, as the prestigous Montgomery family treated like some kind of royalty. After her two weeks on the run from her boarding school where she was hidden away, and being found, her friends who helped her where in arrested and in custody. Now she is in the middle of a media circus, especially now her mother has announced the she is running for president of the United States. Her mother hasn't changed a bit and keeps Cecilia as much under her thumb as possible. Luckily her friend Jasper, who her mom holds responsible for Cecilias previous escape, who no matter what supports and helps her. His music career is starting to take off. But is their relationship strong enough to stand all the papparazi and pressure from her mom and the outside world on them?
I loved Escaping Perfect so I was thrilled to get the chance to read an e-galley of Finding What's Real.
Was it just as good as book 1? Yes and no. It was nice to reconnect with the characters again. They where just the same as in book 1. Cecilia was still trying to stand up to her mother and to find her own life, away from her grip. I really liked her but she didn't stood out as much as in book 1. Cecila's mother was 100% the same and on the same track. And again she reminded me of Dharma & Greg's Kitty Montgomery, as they have quite the same characteristics and last name. The romance between Cecilia and Jasper was nice, but nothing I haven't read in many other YA novels.
But overal it was a nice read with a nice storyline. Not so strong as book 1 but it was certainly entertaining to read what happened next to Cecilia.
