It has fallen to Sorrowlyn marry a barbarian prince because of an ages old deal that was struck to save two warring kingdoms from doom. She does have a choice. Unfortunately, that choice involves being thrown to a dragon and certain death. Sorrowlyn, who knows she will not be missed or mourned by her unloving and brutal father rejects marriage and chooses death. Or, is it the only answer? As it happens, no. Sorrowlyn finds an ally from an unexpected source. The young barbarian prince, Golmar, who could have been her husband. This is definitely a book with an appealing premise for teen readers. The world and lore is unique and fascinating, characters compelling. Unfortunately, most of what was to be learned came in the form of dialogue between characters which started to pull me out of the story time and time again because conversations became vehicles to fill the reader in on things they needed to know. I will most likely pass on this as my budget is limited, but I do plan on reading the author's other books as this is the first one I have read from her.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a digital ARC. This book is fantastic. The writing is smooth and engrossing. I love the main character! She has edge, daring, and a sweet naivety. The romance is absolutely swoon worthy. The plot is exciting, the romance heart wrenching. This book is perfect for YA book lovers, fantasy fanatics, and those who want to be swept away by a dashing fellow.
