Description
The Rekindle Inn is the last place J.T. Walker wants to spend his Christmas vacation, much less in the company with the woman who’d recently ripped his heart to shreds. A challenge of wills, and the need to show Mary he no longer cares, has him on the plane to Santaville faster than the time it takes to unwrap a candy cane.
The Rekindle Inn specializes in mending relationships, but when the Walkers check in, it will take more than a little Christmas magic to bring these two broken hearts back together. More like a Christmas miracle.

Creepy bartender.
It doesn't sound like he even likes her.
I hope they don't have kids.
It sounds like she let her dad's mistakes make her insecure about her marriage.
David sounds like a controlling douche. He's got "future abusive ex" written all over him.
That was mean, JT! Trying to make her see what she'll be missing?
I have to admit, I just look for the signature line.
Boy is she cynical!
Aw, he still wears his ring?
Sometimes it takes a stranger to help us see our own lunacy.
Sounds like she has a history of giving up.
Man up, Norman.
Why is she with that bozo again?
Way to make your wife feel like a slut, man.
Holy trust exercise, Batman!
Ooh, who is Mr. Daniels?
Well that was summed up quickly...
Mary Walker’s mom has hatched a plan to reunite her daughter and soon to be ex husband. Both Mary and TJ are given a seven day vacation at a Vermont inn just in time for Christmas. Mary and TJ may want no part of this scheme, but the Rekindle Inn has a reputation for restoring relationships, no matter how shaky. A sweet story of second chances just in time for Christmas
The magic of the setting drew me in and made me set aside other books to read this one! The two main characters have their divorce papers all but signed, but are given a trip to the Rekindle Inn by their mothers. The Inn and its surroundings were so well described, and made me want to visit (or live) there! The book was full of Christmas spirit and was a really fun holiday read!
Lovely magical christmas read. I just adored this book its what christmas is about.
A couple weeks from finalising their divorce are given a christmas gift from both there mothers. A trip to Rekindle Inn. None of them wanting to tell there mums no, so off they go to to there magical trip to Jollyville. Its not like normal inn's. Will the magic of the inn work on this couple? You will have to read for yourself.
Highly recommend this book. It would make a lovely christmas movie.
4 stars
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest/unbiased opinion.
This one was an appetizer. Short and sweet like. I found the town a bit over the top but I think it was meant to be this way. The story was predictable and transparent. Again, I suspect it was meant to be this way.
It was cute how they were both too stubborn and proud to tell their parents they didn’t want to go on the vacation. Which really masked the fact they were clearly still in love with each other. The beginning was a bit slow but it picked up towards the middle.
I felt the sex scenes fell a bit flat and the chemistry wasn’t as strong as I’m used to. The fact that they weren’t ‘allowed’ to talk about their past may have rubbed me the wrong way. How can you deal with it if you don’t confront it? But I was able to suspend my belief and ended up enjoying the book as a whole.
I have never been very good at the whole wintery/christmas themes books but they are starting to grow on me.
This was a cute Christmas story about a couple on the brink of divorce. Their mothers booked them a trip to an Inn to see if they can rekindle their romance. With a little help from Mr. & Mrs. Klaus & friends, can they find their way back to each other.
The story was somewhat predictable. But I did relate to some of Mary's issues. I'm similar in some senses, so it hit home with me. But it was a cute read for the holidays.
Wonderful story, filled with hope and love. The characters were well developed and the setting was amazing. Lori Waters's writing style is brilliant. Can't wait to read another book by her.
I thought this was a fun Christmas story. The town and Rekindle Inn were described beautifully, and made me feel like I was there right along with Mary and JT. I enjoyed following along with JT and Mary on their journey.
Christmas at the Rekindle Inn by Lori Waters is a wonderful Christmas novella. Filled with the Christmas spirit and wonderful characters, it is truly one of the best seasonal books I’ve read so far. Mary Walker and Joseph Tanner Walker are just weeks away from finalizing their divorce. A surprising Christmas gift from both their mothers, a trip to the Rekindle Inn in Jollyville Vermont forces them to confront their problems in a quirky little town filled with the most remarkable and funny characters. This is the story of second chances, pride and stubbornness. Both Mary and JT carry with them baggage and misunderstandings that they need to work through, but the Rekindle Inn is just the place to do it with the help of some residents of Jollyville Vermont.
This was a totally enjoyable book filled with humor, insight, forgiveness, and love. The storyline was as believable as any holiday book and the characters were all well developed even if a little whimsical. Hurry out and get this one and read it during the holidays for a warm and fuzzy holiday experience.
I received this ARC from NetGalley and Wild Rose Press with no obligation to review it. This is my honest review after reading.
OMG, FABULOUS READ!!!!
A freaking fantastic emotional tear jerking story of re-found love. A story telling Mary and Joseph (JT) to remember why and how they fell in love in the first place.
My favorite type of romance is one that can draw out the reader’s emotions. This book Christmas at Rekindle Inn by Lori Waters is certainly one of those. To top that off, it is a Christmas story, one that will make the reader think about all the miracles around them.
I really need to thank NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for gifting me with the approval to read this spectacular book. It took me on a wonderful emotional ride, and I loved every moment of it, tears and all.
I also need to thank NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for introducing me to Lori Waters and her phenomenal writing. I have definitely found a new author to follow.
Thank you for reading my review.
4 Stars! This was just adorable. The little Christmas Tinsel Town was fantastic, with touches of holiday magic around every corner. The emotions the hero and heroine experienced felt real and nothing was going to be fixed easily over a cup of spiked eggnog. Despite the fantastic setting the issues were concrete and dealt with realistically. There was a little bit of "misunderstanding" toward the end, but this story held my attention all the way through. I'll look for more from this author!
Picked up from Netgalley in exchange for a review, this almost didn't make it into the Christmas Reading pile, until I was checking my dashboard on the site for another book, and - eeep! It was there ready to read, and my chance of a themed romance was rapidly running out the door!
So: it's a romance set at Christmas, so you have to suspend any Grinchy-ness if you're going to survive this book. A week before Christmas, and a month before their divorce is finalised, Mary and JT (Joseph Tanner) (yes, there's the first of them!), are sent to the Rekindle Inn by their mothers, in the hope they can recover what's left of their marriage.
They have been separated for 6 months, ever since Mary organised a surprise vacation, only for JT to bail out at the last minute "for work purposes". Both characters have issues that have contributed to their marriage breaking down - Mary hasn't trusted anyone since her father walked out on her mother when Mary was 10, and she gives up at the first sign of trouble anywhere in her life. JT has always felt that whatever he did was never "good enough" for his father, so he strove to be the best at his job, whilst neglecting his marriage. Both of them struggle with communication, with their spouse and family members. Neither have confronted their parents about the trip, or their issues.
Arriving at the Rekindle Inn, the couple realise there is something unusual about the people who make up the staff and the community, starting with the fact that their hosts are called Mr and Mrs Klaus, and virtually no-one is over 5 feet tall. There's the occasional "slip up" where references are made to "el, I mean staff".
This is told primarily from the point of Mary, with a little side view from JT. Some of the secondary characters are more 3 dimensional than others but some are barely sketched.
Once at the Inn, the couple are told about the week's schedule, which involves time spent apart as well as putting the two of them together as a couple. Each day is themed, and allows the couple to reflect on what made them fall in love in the first place, and hopefully bring some spark back into their relationship. They do get together - briefly - during the week, but it is the end of the week when Mary's new boyfriend turns up to pick her up, and JT's boss' daughter continues to try and get her claws into him that almost ruins the reconciliation. However, as per all good romances, especially one set at Christmas, things work out as wished for!
The Christmas tie-ins were laid on a little thick for my liking, but them's the breaks. Some people love the book, some people hate it, I found it to be a nice, fast, post Christmas read over lunch one day.
