When a group of fantasy creatures and a fairy queen ballerina doctor find themselves in quite the pickle, it's dad who comes to the rescue. This book is a sweet celebration of the power of a child's imagination and the joys that come when parents are involved in playtime, too.
For some reason I was put in the timeframe of a 90's Nickelodeon cartoon. And as a 90's kid, that makes this book awesome. Loved Bigfoot and the robot. And even though I'm a mom, it was nice to read a story for the dad's.
This is a great read aloud to all those children who love playing with their dads. This dad is not always involved in the children's play, but when he is needed, he is there for them. He is also not afraid to join in and play. I definitely will get this book for my son and grandson, it describes their relationship to a T.
When the children are outside playing they are all involved in make believe. There is a bigfoot and a unicorn who both end up in trouble with their foot and horn respecitively stuck in something. The robot with the saw for an arm rusts and the Flying Alligator Pirate shows up and steals the wand from the Fairy Ballerina Doctor. How will the creatures solve their problems? When their ideas fail, Dad is there to help fix things. This is a cute story about imagination and playing as well as celebrating Dads who participate with their children and or not afraid to join in, even if they get tied up or have to dress up.
