A Note From the Publisher

Vella Munn writes contemporary and historical romances to satisfy the insistent voices in her head. She’s convinced she has the best career in the world. Also thanks to those voices, she no longer has any other marketable skills.

She’s had more than 50 books published and is beyond exited to have joined the Tule Publishing family with a contemporary romance series set at Lake Serene, Montana. The series draws on her love of the wilderness as backdrop for new beginnings and love.

Vella lives in rural Oregon, is married, has two sons, and four grandchildren. She’s owned by two bossy dogs and is working on her master’s degree as a certified hermit.

Saved By The Montana Hero is book four in Vella Munn's Montana Lakeside series, but works well as a stand-alone novel. This story focuses on two loners, Kolina Childs and Terron Sax. Kolina has had a difficult childhood courtesy of her very young single mother, who has never been able to settle down. Prior to coming to Lake Serene she has lost her boyfriend in a road crash and she's not keen to get into another relationship. Terron grew up very close to his parents but forced to become their carer when first one and then the other became critically ill. Caring for them has taken all he has to give and he's dead set against getting close to anybody else anytime soon. This was a good read although both Terron and Kolina are socially gauche, making their interactions at times choppy. Despite that, I enjoyed this story.

This has to be the most BORING book I have ever read, that for the first time I left a book incomplete at 60%. I found the characters boring and Vella's writing style made the story feel even more drab. The chemistry between Terron and Kolina was taking forever to develop and their back stories was also taking too long to come to the forefront. Even the whole dog and wolf story was really annoying because it seemed to be going no where slowly. This book had taken me almost six days to read and I never complete it which is a first for me because I was procrastinating reading because I disliked the story from the beginning. I won't be reading any books in this series again.

Plot

All his life Terron Sax has been responsible for others, but ever since he moved to Lake Serene and joined the construction crew, he has been trying to get rid of this habit. Terron meets waiteress Kolina Childs and is finding it difficult to control his emotions.

Kolina has had many hardships her entire life and is afraid to depend on anyone, so when Terron enters her life she initially tries to resist their attraction. When Kolina gets an injury, she needs to decide if she wants Terron in her life.

Saved by the Montana Hero (Montana Lakeside, Book 4) by Vella Munn. Like the others in the series, the story’s setting is at Lake Serene. Other than that each book is a stand-alone, which means you can jump into the series with any book. Ms. Munn has taken one uptight, strong female and paired her with a seemingly carefree male then added a dog to make an intriguing story of contrast and opposites attraction. One thing that Terron and Kolina do have in common is the desire to remain emotionally distant from others. So much fun to see how that worked out for them.

It is a small resort town romance with a few twists to keep it interesting. I can recommend this book to fans of romance.

Kolina Childs has been on her own and independent for a long time and is now working towards her goals as a waitress at Lake Serene. Terron Sax on the other hand has been responsible for his family for years and now that his parents have passed is trying to become independent himself taking on a job on the remodeling crew at Lake Serene.

When Terron and Kolina meet they are drawn to each other by their shared difficult and painful pasts and love of the nature around them. The pair end up spending more time together as Kolina tries to rescue a stray dog trying to get it to trust humans and give it a loving home.

Saved by the Montana Hero is the fourth book in the Montana Lakeside series but the first of the series which I myself have read. The story within this book read fine as a standalone novel though so I don’t believe it would be necessary to have read the others to enjoy Terron and Kolina’s story.

The one thing I found with this read was that I wish the author would have kept the story a strictly clean romance between Terron and Kolina. Kolina has an injury in the story and it always sort of makes me cringe when a character is dealing with pain and the story goes to the steamier moments between a couple. Otherwise this was an enjoyable read with as much as the couple had opposite between them they also had in common bringing them together as they shared details with each other.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A nice, small town romance. Though I didn't love the pace of the story it was still an enjoyable read and could definitely work as a standalone novel in the series..
