This is the first Buzz Books edition I have ever requested. Indeed, it seemed less daunting than the semiannual catalogue and was ideal for a first perusal. I do hope that there will be a spring/summer edition as, in my opinion, that would be a better resource for planning ahead. I particularly liked that the excerpts chosen for this January edition were varied. A great way of getting acquainted with titles outside of one's comfort zone and discovering new authors.

I really only had interest in the YA stories included in this book. I about screamed when I saw it had an expert from Caraval, which is my most anticipated release in a long, long time. I was not let down, nor was I by Frostblood. Both were good books and they definitely left me wanting more, which is the whole purpose of a sampler. I did give the other books a try, but I just didn't connect with them as much as I would have liked. I still give this 5 out of 5 stars and I would recommend it.

Buzz Books have always been a brilliant way to get new books on the radar and TBR lists, but this new monthly format is even more useful and more user-friendly, keeping the number of extracts taut. I'm especially excited to read History of Wolves...

I am so glad that I discovered (through NetGalley) that Buzz Books will be doing a monthly publication. This makes it much easier to stay up to date on what is coming out next than a twice a year sample. I already found several books that I hope to read from this sample and I was very excited to see an excerpt from Fire by Night and Caraval, both of which are books I have been eagerly waiting to read.

Great opportunity to see what's new for January, 2017 .it is also a great opportunity to read excerpts which helps make my decision on whether I want to read a particular book . I hope that the book buzz previews will continue to be made available. I have already obtained several galleys and may request additional titles .

I really enjoy having Publishers Lunch compile a monthly rather than seasonal publication of the upcoming releases. It makes it easier to plan and stagger relevant reviews! I'm also a fan of how it's split up into which books are particularly buzzed in the publishing community so I can focus my reviews. I'm really looking forward to what's being published in January. There are lots of great titles coming up.

This is a great way to preview the new titles that are being released. I liked being able to read a little more about the book so I knew without a doubt if it would interest me. I think whoever came up with these deserves some recognition, it was great idea.

This is a great little book to see new titles and authors that are new and often notable. The bonus is an except of several of the novels. This is all so very handy to have one book to look at and review.

This is my third or fourth edition of Buzz Books and I've discovered that I really look forward to them. From this collection I am most looking forward to a book called Things We Have in Common by Tasha Kavanagh. Thank you NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for this book; I am really happy it is becoming monthly instead of seasonally.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me this digital preview. I am so very excited for the two young adult novels in this issue of Buzz Book. I am especially excited for "Caraval" by Stephanie Garber. The premise is intriguing and the writing style is both gripping and lyrical. I am very excited for the books coming out in 2017.

I love these samplers and book buzzes to keep me up to date with what is coming out in the coming months/year. This monthly version is far better than the season ones because it is more focused and contains a larger selection of titles and excerpts.

Another excellent collection of the upcoming books. I love these sample books as it helps me get an idea of what is heading to the market over the coming month(s) and find some new books I can't wait to read. This edition was no different, although I do love that it's a monthly version rather than the seasonal ones we've had previously. Definitely need more of these books - I look forward to reading them and seeing what will be coming!

NetGalley publishes a list along with a few excerpts from various publishers promoting books they feel will be must reads with January release dates. The list includes categories ranging from Literary Favourites and Emerging Talents to Debut and Commercial Fiction and Nonfiction selections.

Two of the excerpts were in the Young Adult categories but there are three titles I will be adding to my must read in 2017 list. Each was unique in its content but all were well written and begged for more than just a taste.

History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund with an intriguing summary. “, History of Wolves is a coming-of-age-plus-crime story that explores…. the difference between what you want to believe and what you do.” From what I read in the excerpt, this story of “guilt, innocence, negligence, well-meaning belief, and the loss of a child” looks to be a fascinating read set in the cold woods of northern Minnesota.

The Fire by Night is a debut novel by Teresa Messineo. It explores the lives of two nurses deployed on the front lines in WWII. Jo, an Irish-Italian New Yorker is trapped behind enemy lines in a makeshift medical unit in France. Her best friend Kay is sent first to Pearl Harbor and then to the tunnels of Corregidor in the Philippines where she is captured and must nurse civilians in a POW camp. I loved the excerpt and look forward to this read.

The excerpt for Shanthi Sekaran’s Lucky Boy confirmed what the positive reviews for this novel already led me to believe is a must read. The excerpt includes the opening efforts of Solimor Castro-Valdez to leave her small Mexican village and find a life for herself in California. What little I read has me wanting to read more. Always a great sign.

Thanks for the sneak preview NetGalley.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this book to me in exchange for an honest review.

What an amazing compilation of January 2017 upcoming books. I completely enjoyed looking through all of the upcoming books (over 100 of them). I also really enjoyed discovering the selected books with excerpts - reading the summary of each book and a few chapters to gain an insight of the writing style and content. I cannot wait to read Frostblood by Elly Blake and Caraval by Stephanie Garber as both books sound AMAZING.... I'm truly looking forward to the February Buzz Books Monthly publication.

Enjoy and Happy Reading!

For some reason I completely forgot to read through this sampler until I downloaded the February one. January is going to be a great book month with so many great titles to be on the look out for. I honestly love how they switched this from 4x a year to monthly. This is a great idea and look forward to becoming aware of each month's book selections
