what a fabulous book. once I started I couldn't put it down. Pepper and Lantham and all the supporting players were fabulous.. I wish it could have continued. I liked everything about it.

This is a pretty tame werewolf/witch romance. It is a sweet romance that is started in the first book, A Witch's journey, in the Lobster Cove series. Pepper and Latham have started their animal rescue center and planning the wedding. Both families are back. I'd recommend reading book one first but you can do ok without all the background. I like the absence of violence and high drama. This is a fun read that takes place over the winter holidays and will leave a smile on your face.

I haven't read any other books in this series and I think that may have somewhat hindered my enjoyment of this one. That being said, I did manage to catch up and keep up with the crazy band of characters that were thrown at us in this story.

We join Peper (a witch) and Lathen (a wolf) as they plan the holidays and their upcoming nuptials. With the joining of their families, they also have to juggle the expectations and idiosyncrasies that come with all sorts of supernaturals. Oh, and there's ghosts, too. And they run an animal rescue that is filled with all sorts of other oddities.

Their family and friends are really where the story comes from. While Pepper and Lathen have some bedroom scenes and run the rescue, the drama comes from everyone around them as they overcome weather, pregnancy, mystery strangers, and broken ovens to put on an excellent supernatural wedding.

After reading the books description I figured it was just the kind of story I would love to read, and eagerly got started on it after I got a copy of it through NetGalley in exchange for a review. Now at the time I had not realized it was the second book of the series, and even though I did not feel lost in the storyline, I did not connect to the main characters at all, perhaps because I did not read the first book? It was a sweet story but I found myself falling asleep while reading, which is never a good sign, every detailed is described which made it a bit monotonous for me. Overall its a nice read, and I might pick up the first book in the series to see how it all got started to see if it will make a difference for me.

Pepper admired her emerald and diamond engagement ring. Pepper’s office shares space with the lab and supply room for the Lobster Cove Wild Refuge and Rehabilitation Center - LCWRRC- it was located on the land Pepper inherited under some interesting circumstances - Pepper built LCWRRC with the help of former Navy Seal Lanthan Quartz who she is now engaged to. The Center filled a badly needed resource for the community and fulfilled her lifelong dream. Lanthan came in and Tonk - the wolf pup-rescued that had become Lanthan’s shadow. Dylan Foster was the vet in town had brought the pup to the center. A vehicle had hit the gray wolf in Acadia National Park shattering his jaw and hind leg. Dr. Foster pinned his jaw , put a rod in his leg and neutered him as it was apparent he wouldn’t be suitable for release. Pepper was a broom toting, cauldron stirring witch. Pepper loved working with the animals and doing rehab with the animals.Lanthan called her the creature whisperer. Pepper mentioned that she wanted to put cameras in the seabird aviary and connect them to the computer in the cabin, that way they could keep an eye on the injured birds without always running to the aviary. Eventually Pepper wanted to connect cameras in all the habitats Lanthan was a werewolf. Pepper’s aunt is a ghost and helping with things concerning the wedding. Lanthan works for the government and has a secret mission.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It has a great plot and is well written.I loved how Pepper ran a rescue and rehab center for animals. I do however suggest you read the first book in this series so you can get the background for this story. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend
