The second book in the series, but I read it first. Didn't get confused, and actually made reading the first one more interesting. This is the story of Scott and Katie. Katie comes to Montana from Philadelphia to be with her sister, who is married to the rancher Scott works for and is partnered with. There are some dark spots, attempted rape, child abuse (history) and such, but it is not dwelled upon. I liked the story, and the writing kept me interested throughout. In general I am not usually a fan of "historical" romance, but I did like this one. Highly recommend this book and author.

It has been interesting to see frontier Marietta, Montana grow into the contemporary town that it is today. With each story the frontier town which is so different from the modern version has begun to grow on me. A Cowboy's Temptation by Michelle Beattie gives another glimpse into the personalities, lives and loves of those who came to settle there. Scott and Katie’s story is the most exciting of the books so far.

About the first fourth of the book, Katie is on her way to Marietta to reunite with her sister, Jillian. This was quite the story seeing how Katie seems to have a knack for running into trouble. Still I like this adventurous woman, still I like the steadiness of Scott. They brought a balance to each other’s life. They are not with the bumps in their journey to finding love, just like the Jillian and Wade. Because of the danger in the beginning and the tenacious of Katie, this is my favorite of the series so far.

Lately we’ve been given glimpses into the beginnings of the bustling modern day city of Marietta, Montana by going back into the past for a look at how it all began… how so very different this much loved city was once upon a time. I believe we all “think we know” how it was back them, but let’s be real here… we have no clue whatsoever. This is why I’m completely enjoying the Historical line that Tule Publishing is now putting out – stories that keep us connected to a town that we’ve come to love, but with a look back at what it started out as so long ago.

A Cowboy’s Temptation brings us Katie and Scott’s romance. Poor Katie, if it weren’t for bad luck she’d have no luck at all. Everything that possibly could go wrong on her trip to her sister has happened or will soon happen. Kind of hard to beat being stuck in jail on bogus charges, but she’s sure if she just waits around she can manage that, too. The circumstances couldn’t possibly have been worse to meet a rugged, handsome cowboy, one that gave her tingles from a single look.

All Scott had to do was pick up this hellion, get her back to her sister and go on with his life. Not like that looked as if it would be happening any time soon. The hellion was a beauty who’d been through a lot. She was feisty, brave and if the way she looked at him told a tale, he’s in a lot of trouble from now on. Scott is a man who will do the right thing, even when it’s the last thing he wants. He’ll come to care for Katie and hope for a future together, but sometimes the past won’t stay where it belongs, behind a man. And now his future is in danger from his past.

It’s been said that the love of a good woman will get a man through anything – time for Katie and Scott to find out if that’s true.

I enjoyed my time spent in Marietta’s past. Seeing the world as it once was gives me a greater appreciation for all we have today. A Cowboy’s Temptation is a charming look at the past through the eyes of the settlers in a town many of us have come to love. Scott and Katie are a easily likable couple and their story rings true on so many layers.

If you’re in the mood to take a step back into history then I’d definitely recommend the Frontier, Montana series. You’ll find solid stories, enjoyable couples and interesting secondary characters. Everything that makes a story just right.

If you are a fan of the Montana Born novels from Tule Publishing; specifically those set in Marietta, you will love this historical romance. A Cowboy's Temptation takes us back to the beginning of our favorite Montana town. Marietta, Montana territory 1884.

When I first started reading romance novels back in the eighties, I started with historical. For some reason, I just didn't like contemporary romances back then. Of course that is no longer the case. I love most genres of romance nowadays. However, I admit I haven't read many historical romances in the past few years. So A Cowboy's Temptation is the first western historical I have read in a long time. That said, I loved i! I loved it so much for so many reasons.

Scott Taylor is a cowboy on a cattle/horse ranch. Not only does he work on the ranch, he recently become a partner and owns an equal share. All Scott's dreams are slowly coming true. Except for one. Falling in love. And he has no hopes of that happening. Scott's past is tainted and so sad. He believes he doesn't deserve a wife even though he longs for that and a family. But things change real fast. And unfortunately not how Scott envisioned it.

Katie Matthews is on her way to Montana territory to start a new life and hopefully mend a strained relationship with her older sister, Jillian. Jillian and her husband are all the family Katie has now. On the way to Montana, Katie's stagecoach is robbed and all her money stolen. That robbery begins a chain of events that not only change her life but end up being the best thing that could have happened.

Scott and Katie start of being attracted to each other right away. Of course Scott keeps a respectable distance, at first, but that changes pretty quickly. The way their relationship starts off is nothing less than passionate but then escalates very fast to stress, angst and anger. I loved how their story developed. I loved both Scott and Katie as characters. Of course they both frustrated me at times with their stubbornness, especially Scott. He handled the situation with Katie, right from the start, poorly. But Scott had past fears he had to deal with. I will say his past gutted me. Completely.

Although Katie came to Montana to start over, it was Scott who needed love and healing the most. I'm so glad he found that in Katie.

The first book in this series, A Rancher's Surrender, which I haven't read yet>/b> features the story of Katie's sister, Jillian and her hero, Wade. I want to go back and read that before book three comes out, A Sheriff's Passion which will feature Shane and Silver. They were all secondary characters in Katie and Scott's story. Can't wait to read more.

What an exciting adventure we live vicariously through the eyes of Katie! Wild, crazy, and hot! And Scott is not too shabby either. Great story.

Oh how I loved A Cowboy's Temptation! I couldn't put it down and now I'm at the end I wish there were more. I loved Katie with her fierce passion and her determination to try new things snd prove her worth. I loved Scott with his sense of decency and all the worries about his past that he kept bundled up tightly inside. I loved the way these two pushed against each other one minute and fell on each other like starving men onto a roast dinner. This story grabbed me on page one and held me all the way.

The story of Shane and Katie. Two lost people who are thrown together. Shane, a tortured soul trying to do the right thing. Katie, a headstrong girl with something to prove while refusing to be the damsel in distress. The sparks fly when they meet. Although, a secret keeps them from true surrender. A good read. The story is predicable but the secret that keeps them apart is pretty dark. If you like hard working cowboys and strong willed women, you will like this story

Another entertaining read from author Michelle Beattie. Somewhat comical highlights and emotional elements kept the pages turning.

This story takes place during 1884 in the Montana territory. Katie is brave and sets out on a journey to Marietta. She experiences a lot of setbacks and struggles along the way. I admired her mental strength and how she was able to cope.

Scott has devoted his life to doing the right thing. He is afraid that he will lose everything that he has worked for if his brutal childhood is discovered. Can Scott overcome this pain?

Katie and Scott end up together on this journey to Marietta. There is chemistry between and they develop feelings for each other. Will Scott realize that he deserves a good wife or will he allow his painful past to prevent him from taking a chance at true love?

The reader is swept back to Marietta , Montana of the past in this tale of Katie and Scott. Good book to settle in on a cold evening to enjoy.
