In a world of technology, Jeremiah Willstone (yes, Jeremiah is a woman) must race through alternate universes to stop someone bent on changing the time stream she thrives.

Jumping from a steampunk Victorian-ish world to something very similar to our current reality, Jeremiah traverse each new reality with grit and determination.

A cross of steampunk, fantasy, dark fantasy, and scifi, Francis writes and intricate and vivid story or survival. Action intense, complex and compelling Jeremiah Willstone and the Clockwork Time Machine is sure to be a hit with those who love cross genre reads.

Jeremiah Willstone and the Clockwork Time Machine was a rollicking time traveling, steampunk adventure that, for me, started out strong and then just got a bit muddled. The story begins in the middle of a battle featuring alternative technologies, airships, human computers, and women who kick serious butt, so it immediately grabs a reader's attention. The story evolves, introducing alien technology, nuclear physics, time travel, and all the nuances that come with time travel. At one point toward the latter half of the book, everything starts meshing together in a very convoluted way. The author just had way too much going on. While the author features strong female characters, to include the lead, Jeremiah Willstone, the women are portrayed at times as essentially being the types of women who use sex as a weapon. It wasn't clear to me why this was needed with all the emphasis on the military training women undergo and the alternative technologies available to the women fighting these battles. I did appreciate the detail to science and technology throughout the story and this was predominantly what kept my interest in the book.

“Jeremiah Willstone and the Clockwork Time Machine” eBook was published in 2017 and was written by Anthony Francis (http://jeremiahwillstone.com/). This is Mr. Francis’ fifth novel.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence, Mature Language and Mature Situations. The story is set partially in a parallel universe where Steam Punk is the technology and partially in our own world, The primary character is the young woman, Commander Jeremiah Willstone.

Willstone is an officer in the Victoriana Defense League (VDL). She is sent on a mission to find and stop her uncle who has stolen highly secret technology. She soon finds herself and the airship she is on plunging through time and dimensions. She finds herself in our very different contemporary world.

She and the VDL have spent years battling invasion attempts by extraterrestrials in their universe. Her view of things changes on this mission as she learns more about her uncle as well as both her allies and enemies.

I enjoyed the 11+ hours I spent reading this 298 page Science Fiction Steam Punk novel. I liked the world created for Willstone, as well as the cross over to our own. I thought that the plot was well laid out and very engaging. While the story arrives at a conclusion, there is plenty of loose ends that beg for sequels. I liked the cover art showing Jeremiah Willstone with an airship above her. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.
