Nadia Spencer is America’s favorite bi-racial cosmetic surgeon. She’s the UN Special Ambassador for Female Genital Mutilation, mother to two wise-ass kids, and she’s married to the Republican candidate for Mayor of New York. She’s just launched her new book. BIO
I was born in Cork, Ireland. My parents and most of my 5 brothers and sisters still live there. While they tried to repopulate the planet I jumped on a cross-channel ferry to London and shortly afterwards I settled in Australia. I spent almost 20 years living in Australia and New Zealand. While there, I made a couple of movies. I wrote and directed PUPPY - a darkly funny romantic thriller (available on Amazon VOD), and I also wrote a horrible film called FEED for American director Brett Leonard. It’s about a strange fetish where men (mostly) feed women until they are morbidly obese. For some reason the film sold especially well in Germany! I also had a career in commercial property brokerage and capital raising for property trusts and syndicates, before I made movies.
The last ten years have been even more interesting. I’ve lived and worked all over the Middle East making my living in education management and media consultancy. In one memorable week in Amman, Jordan, I dined separately with a niece of Senator John McCain and a niece of Osama Bin Laden, all while a US film crew was in town scouting for Zero Dark Thirty - the movie about the assassination of Bin Laden. Neither niece had anything to do with the movie. Go figure. I’m sure I’ve been very well vetted by security agencies all over the world. Certainly the Jordanian Mukhabarat (Intelligence) kept an eye on me while I managed a university campus there. No wonder my friend Stephen Rhys is convinced I’m a spy.
Now I live in Spain but I spend a lot of time in Budapest too when I want to write without distractions. Travel, fiction writing, abusing caffeine, and being a butler for my American Cocker, Booshka, keep me busy. I love to hear from readers and you can contact me via my website: http://www.kierangalvin.com or twitter @authorkieran
