Description
Tough, taciturn and wounded in ways that no one else knows about, Marietta rancher and part-time Deputy Sheriff Logan Tate is a man in total control of his life. Until he catches British photographer Charlotte Foster hitchhiking and ‘insists’ she gets a ride into town in his squad car…
After her run-in with Deputy Hardass, Charlie Foster is ready to ride her thumb right back out of Marietta the very next day. But that night, a trip to Grey’s Saloon fires up her imagination – and her wild side – when she overhears the town’s first responders panicking over how to come up with the money needed to repair Harry’s House in just 90 days.
Charlie has an ingenious solution to their problem, that might just require her to photograph twelve smokin’ hot guys naked. And, as luck would have it, also involves getting some much needed payback on Deputy Hardass–who isn’t too enthusiastic about participating in the calendar shoot.
But as he spends more time with Charlie, Logan can’t ignore the chemistry sizzling between them. Can a man who lives by the rules fall in love with a woman who breaks all of his?
A Note From the Publisher
She loves her job because it involves sitting down at her computer each day and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamorous locations where laundry doesn’t exist … Not bad, eh.
Then she gets to turn off her computer and do chores (usually involving laundry).

This was a really sweet and sexy romance, I’ve loved it. The beginning is so well done, I felt instantly attracted by the main characters, drawn by their strong personalities and the humor Heidi Rice infuses in the narrative. Both are wounded but they aren’t defined only by the hurt, they’re made of lots of layers, making them complex and well-rounded characters.
You can’t not fall for this hero: strong, wounded, caring, protective. And the heroine, a successful photographer, is resilient, feisty, generous.
Heidi Rice’s writing style is absorbing, the setting – Marietta, Montana – beautiful, the plot a wonderful tale about a group of people and a small community voluntarily working together for a good cause; and the secondary characters… well, I’m checking next books in this series because I’m really curious to read about all these gorgeous men, some sunny like the hero’s brother, other guarded, elusive and mysterious.
I can't get enough of the stories centered around Marietta, Montana...this story is no exception. Written with emotion and heart, it is a wonderful read from being to end. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms Rice's characters, their unique personalities, with their lives emerging as the story built to the very satisfying ending. Logan is a man any woman would welcome into her life, Charlie is the one woman who made him want a permanent relationship...the two together were perfect and really brought out the heart in the story.
I'm looking forward to reading the remaining stories in the Men of Marietta series. Having gotten a glimpse of them, especially Lyle, I know that through the talent of the different author's involved, they will be swoon worthy as well.

Smoking new series with some hot guys pictured in one hot calendar for a wonderful cause, Harry’s House. Tempting the Deputy by Heidi Rice starts the series out right. This is following on the coat tails of the Bachelor Bake-Off series. Uptight male matched against a foot loose and free woman. It was such fun reading this showdown between the Deputy/Rancher and the Photographer.
For those following the lives of those in Marietta, Montana, this is a must read. For those not familiar with the series why not start here with a lighthearted approach to story line that is anything but.
Overall I really liked this one. Charlie and Logan are fun together, and I liked how feisty Charlie (Charlotte) got with Logan and his brother Lyle. I did get a little impatient with her whining about staying though, as it felt a little overdone as well as the sex. I do like the tension and the heat of course, but it seemed a little fast here. Overall though, I had trouble putting it down for the most part, and eagerly await the next book in the series. Highly recommend this book and author.
Tempting The Deputy starts off the Men of Marietta series in such a poignant, heart-wrenching way. The opening scene was enough to get my eyes burning, and I’d barely brushed the surface of the emotions I’d encounter while reading Logan and Charlie’s story. Two wounded souls, neither one the exact image they project to the world, both hiding hurts that go deep into that part of a person that either brings out a survivor or destroys completely. It took mere moments for these two to get my emotions engaged.
While Charlie believed Logan’s reactions earlier were over the top and downright rude, she wasn’t above eavesdropping on the conversation of several handsome, rugged men about a project for Harry’s House. Somewhat revived by good food and cold brews, she had the perfect idea to help these guys and if along the way she totally got payback on one bullheaded deputy, then all the better. Very quickly that perfect revenge got sidelined with ideas on how to help get the funding needed to get Harry’s House up and running before the deadline. Soon she had a good feel for the kind of man this fallen first responder was, and even more for how far these men and their community were willing to go to see this long lasting way of honoring Harry and help the youth of the community become a reality. While payback was admittedly still a part of her plan, it wasn’t the only emotion driving her to give them her best.
There are, unfortunately, many kinds of abuse. No matter how horrific they sound, they all leave scars both visible and unseen. Logan and Charlie have scars, deep scars that no child, no adult should have to live with But also unfortunately, life isn’t always fair so we deal with the cards we’re dealt. How this couple dealt with their pasts is totally opposite. How they open up and reveal those hidden scars is proof of how much they instinctively trust each other, even if they aren’t ready to call it love. My heart broke for the kids Charlie and Logan were. The adults they became are exactly what each other needs now. There is no explaining attraction, or love – it simply hits when it pleases for no logical reason. I’m unreasonably glad that it hit for these two who deserve to be loved exactly as they are, and to heal from their pasts.
Tempting The Deputy is an emotional story full of smokin’ hot sizzling chemistry, two stubborn people, one good cause and the chance for the past to become exactly that… in the past, while a future lies ahead for two deserving people. Full of intriguing secondary characters who soon will have their own stories told, this is a series that you’ll want to get in on from the beginning. Because it’s gonna be a heck of a ride. I’d recommend this one for any Romance reader who loves a good story, compelling characters and a small town unlike any other.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Leave it to Tule Publishing to come up with another hook for a fun Marietta Montana series. This time we have the focus of a very well done calendar for a charity event...It will be done by an accomplished photographer who has never let obeying the rules stop her.
She steps up to assist with raising the needed funds for a community member's destroyed home. She also twists the Deputy's ego into participating...
Oh, did I mention the calendar is NUDES....
Yup, this is a tale with lots of fun, hear and Marietta Charm.

The first in a new series featuring the hotties from Marietta. This series picks up were the Bachelor Bake-off series left off now focusing on the town first responders as they are called on the help raise money for Harry's House. Deputy Sheriff Logan is all for helping and raising funds but a naked calendar? No. Freaking. Way. Even if the photographer is the lovely yet absolutely crazy woman he found on the edge of town. Dubbed Deputy Hardass by Charlie Foster, the photographer, is only the beginning of the ways she drives him crazy!!
This is a fun sexy read that you don't want to miss. I definitely recommend it.
Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Tempting the Deputy by Heidi Rice that I read and reviewed.
All I can say about this book is that it is hot hot hot. The chemistry between Logan and Charlie was off the charts and you could feel it through your Kindle.
I really enjoyed this book and I found the idea for this new series of really great eye candy guys that are going to be used "naked" in a calender for charity was a really good idea. In this first book it was the reluctant assistant sheriff and the photographer who were paired up. As I stated before it was one hot pairing. If you enjoy fast moving romance books with a solid story this would be a great book to pick up.
I am giving Tempting the Deputy four out of five stars.
Logan Tate is a Deputy Sheriff in Marietta when he meets Charlotte Foster under less than auspicious circumstances. She's an annoying tourist who's putting herself in danger. They butt heads and he takes her away in handcuffs, but that doesn't stop their intense attraction. Charlie doesn't want anything serious after all she's just passing through. Logan doesn't want to get involved. They have no desire for a committed relationship. I loved these characters. Sparks fly when they're together. I love their sassy and flirty dialogue. Charlie's pet name for Logan made me smile. Logan is a protector. Growing up he took care of his younger brother, Lyle, and protected him from their father's abuse. It made me fall for him. I wish that Charlie wasn't so insecure behind her wild child facade. As these two grow closer, I was pulled into their story. Both have been hurt by those who should have loved and cared for them. I wanted them to move forward and take a chance on a HEA. As always I love coming to Marietta. I enjoy the people and their caring. Tempting The Deputy is a wonderful start to the Men of Marietta series. I can't wait for the next book.
Tempting the Deputy is great start to the Men of Marietta series. Between the humour, romance and character interaction this book captured me within its pages and I didn’t put it down until it was over. I look forward to reading more by Heidi Rice and of this series.
Loved this one! A great start to a new series! Logan is a small town deputy and works his family ranch. He's kind of serious and protective of what he loves. Charlotte is a British photographer stopping through town. She's kind of wild and never stays in one place for long. These two had fantastic chemistry from their first meeting, even if that meeting resulted in Logan arresting Charlotte. This was super steamy, had a few laughs with fantastic characters you can't help but love. I can't wait to read more books in this series!
Loved this story by Rice. Her execution was perfection and beyond ready for the next
Rating 4.5/5
Wow - the start of a new series based in Marietta, Montana - I couldn’t wait to read this story! I certainly wasn’t disappointed. It continues on from the Bachelor Bake-off series but you don’t need to have read those stories to appreciate this one. The key elements for this new series are the hunky first responders - cowboys, firefighters, medics, lawmen, pilots, etc - who are to pose for a calendar to raise money to help fund the development of Harry’s house, a community driven project to honour Harry who was tragically killed whilst trying to help an elderly couple. The project is to develop a safe place for children to go before and after school, a place where they can have support, activities and so much more whenever they need it. This first story tells how the idea of the pin up hotties calendar started . . . .
Charlotte (Charlie) Foster is a feisty, independent and very successful photographer who resents any alpha male trying to tell her what she should do. That’s exactly what happened when Logan Tate, a Marietta rancher who also works as a Deputy Sheriff, first spots her taking photographs near to where Harry was killed. He demands she rides into town with him and when she refuses he arrests her! After such an auspicious introduction he actually doesn’t charge her once they get to town but when she turns up at Grey’s Saloon and suggests the first responders pose naked for a calendar to raise funds he definitely doesn’t think it a good idea!
The chemistry between Charlie and Logan is so hot! There is some brilliant banter between them and with the other first responders. The sexual tension is high and there are many laugh out loud moments in the story, too. They are brought vividly to life in the story - and when you consider they’re all going to be posing for the calendar in future stories it is such a shame it is only in my imagination and not hanging in front of me now! It is great to go back to visit the Marietta community and even if you haven’t read other stories based there it is still brought to life brilliantly in this book. For those who are familiar with the location, many familiar people and places are there in this story like old friends. This is a brilliant start to the new series and I really look forward to reading more stories involving these heroic young men in future.
I received a copy of this story via NetGalley and this is my honest review after reading it.
Logan Tate has never met anyone like Charlie Morris. Despite his high-handed behavior, Logan has gotten under Charlie’s skin and when she gets the chance to help with Harry’s House (which has hit a snag and needs more funding) and tweak Logan at the same time, she is all in.
What starts as a way to irritate him, turns into a genuine desire to help, Charlie finds that Logan isn’t the person she thought he was. As they get to know each other and find their pasts, while not the same, have resulted in them having more in common than they thought.
Not only do we have Logan and Charlie’s story, but Charlie’s idea of a calendar of Marietta’s hot men First Responders brings a lot more fun to the table.
This was a really fun story about two people from different backgrounds whose behavior masks pain and fear from their childhoods. I loved watching Deputy Hard A$$ loosen up and ground Charlie the Wanderer. The big question is whether they can get past their fear and commit to each other.
This is the first in the Men of Marietta Series, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book, focusing on Logan’s brother, Lyle.
A great start to a new series, the Men of Marietta, otherwise known ass the "hotties of Marietta. A book of opposites that find love. Charlie, a twin from England, is a well known photographer taking photos when she meets up with part-time Deputy, Logan. Their first meeting did not go well, her nick name for him is Deputy Hardass. They have one thing in common, coming from undesirable families. Charlie has agreed to help Logan with a project for raising money for Harry's House. Charlie's plan is a calendar of the First Responders of Marietta.
Charlie, lives in the moment with no commitments and not looking to settle down anytime soon where Logan is content with hiss life. Logan has many layers that need to be shed and Charlie might just be that person. They soon have that "epic sex", but will it be enough.
Loved, loved this book. I read in one sitting. Could not put it down. The sexual tension between Logan and Charlie is hot! I highly recommend this book, I'm off to read the next book in the series, Flirting With Fire.
Kicking off Tule Publishing's latest multi author series, Tempting the Deputy is exactly why I love visiting Marietta, Montana.
"Logan Tate—all six foot three of honed, flexible, and surprisingly inventive and unpredictable Montana man candy—would be totally worth it."
This time around the overall story arc is a charity calendar featuring the town's first responder hotties, including brooding Deputy Sheriff, Logan. He's not exactly receptive to the idea of getting his kit off, even if for a worthwhile cause but it soon becomes apparent that when it's flighty British photographer, Charlotte Foster doing the persuading, he doesn't stand a chance.
"It’s not every day a girl has an orgasm so epic she passes out."
Heartfelt, with plenty of humour and hot and steamy moments, along with introductions to characters we can expect much more from, Heidi Rice has set-up the series well and I can't wait to meet the rest of the Men of Marietta.
Charlotte (Charlie) is strong, determined, a bit of a smarty pants, and cute too.
Logan, (the cop) is determined to stay away from her, but his brother invites her to stay at their house...and it goes 'downhill' from there...ie Logan can't keep away from Charlie
Enjoyable, cute, funny, romantic and sexy.
5 - "This is your stop." Stars!
Heidi Rice starts of the new Men of Marietta series in exceptional style; Tempting the Deputy gave me everything I wanted and then some, when it comes to my Contemporary Romance requirements.

Logan Tate and Charlotte Foster couldn’t be more opposite if you tried, one a free-spirit, go where the flow takes her and her camera, while the other a Part-time Deputy, Part-time Rancher, full-time rules and routines kinda guy.
She could spend a lifetime photographing this place…
From their first meeting they rub each other up the wrong way, so having her as an unexpected roomie for the following weeks after she comes up with the idea of photographing a Nekkid First Responders calendar to raise money for an important charity endeavor in town things get all-sorts of complicated, especially when they both realize that what they first though was annoyance with each other actually turns out to be crazy-hot attraction.
"Your lip action is impressive…"
But Charlie isn’t one for sticking around, and Logan can’t do anything but, so they decide a roomies-with-benefits sort of deal is the best way to go. As you would expect, things start to change when emotions come into play, but will Charlie put her commitment fears aside and stay the course when the calendar and its photographs are done…
For the first time in forever, she had no desire to move on…
I haven’t had much luck with Tule Publishing releases of late, so have been giving them a bit of a wide berth, but when I saw a new series set in Marietta, Montana was on the schedule, and that authors like Heidi, Kate Hardy, Jeannie Moon and Kaylie Newell were involved I couldn’t stop myself from giving it a try. Heidi delivered, yes this isn’t a story-line that will blow your socks off with surprises, twists or turns, but it was beautifully written, and Logan still has a few unresolved issues, some of which I hope to see dealt with in his brother Lyle’s book; Flirting with Fire which thankfully is up next and without a break in the reading proceedings.

Wow... talk about opposites attract! Or are they? Talk about a hot time in Montana. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Tempting The Deputy, book one in The Men of Marietta series is a sassy and sexy story of two independent people who are thrown together and can't fight their attraction for each other. Logan is none too happy when his brother Lyle offers Charlotte a room in their home for the month she's in Marietta. Of course it's not long before they're sleeping together yet both of them struggle against the growing feelings they have for each other.
With well developed characters and a plot that moves along at a cracking pace this story had me hooked throughout.
A free copy of this book was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Tempting the Deputy is the story of Charlie, a photographer, who after being mock-arrested by Logan to get her out of the cold weather, decides to get her own back by encouraging him to get his kit off for a charity calendar.
This was a nice, fairly quick read and I loved the chemistry between Logan and Charlie. There were a few small niggles - much is made of Logan's family's past, but there never seems to be any real resolution to this. It's just brought up as a major stumbling block to their relationship and then left. I also wasn't a fan of the way Charlie seemed to be one of those characters who's 'independent' to the point of stupidity. There were times I wanted to scream at her to stop being so ridiculous.
Still, this would make a nice beach read for the summer. 3 stars.
Logan has a run in with Charlie when she is hitchhiking. Unfortunately this incident gets under Charlie's skin and when a chance to get even presents itself she takes it in form of fundraising and a calendar. Definitely sparks between these two as their story begins a new series of Men of Marietta. Looking forward to reading the rest in this series.
Ebook from Net Galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
