Description
In Life’s Little Lesson #2, It’s Hard to Swim, readers are reunited with their favorite wiener dog as she is about to abruptly get her paws wet.
Romping on dry ground and chasing a ball are the activities Ellie believes dogs are built to do. However, one day as she is enjoying her canine fun, she chases her ball onto a dock and then finds herself cornered by her “people” who think it would be a good idea for her to take a little dip.
The drama builds as her mind goes into over drive imagining all the terrifying possibilities that could await her below the surface of the water.
Will she sink? Will she end up as dinner for a hungry shark or a monster fish? Or will she overcome her fear and discover all the fun that comes with trying something new? Her future hangs at the end of a dock with very dark water below . . .
Swim is a year-round Summer Fun read! Kids will love searching for all the hidden treasures in the vibrant, whimsical illustrations and grown-ups will love the timeless lesson that is shared through Ellie’s humorous tale.
The team of K.J. Hales and Serene Wyatt have done it again – thanks to the inspiration from Ellie the Wienerdog.

I really enjoyed this book, its a lovely little story about a dog with swimming anxiety. He is worried about everything to do with swimming, that he will sink, get eaten by the fish in the water and really struggle and look silly. The story is about how to relax and take the help given and enjoy it - 4 stars from me.
This adorable book follows a wiener dog with swimming anxiety. He is worried he will sink, get eaten by the fish, etc. He was meant to run, sit, and stay, not dive, float, and swim. That is until he gets help from a doggie life preserver. It can help even the wimpiest of dogs swim and enjoy the water. This is a fun rhyming story with colorful illustrations. I can not wait for lesson 3.

This is a really good book about a dog who doesnt like seimming before it knows what swimming is. A very good book for children who are scared to try something
A truly charming story with illustrations that will captivate children. I have a dachshund myself and I can just imagine him in this adventure. Lovely rhyming text, enjoyable to read. Ellie the Wienerdog encapsulates the idea that you must overcome fear and it may be to your advantage, but it is ok to be scared at first. A funny and absorbing read with a great life lesson thrown in!
Another great entry into the Ellie the Weinerdog series. This title offers enough fun and laughs to keep the little ones engaged while still teaching the lesson of overcoming fears. The illustrations are bright and amusing as Ellie's imagination runs wild. This is an all around great title with a good repetition of sounds and rhyme that will additionally support early reading skills.
