Description
A heartbreaking novel from the bestselling author of The Four Streets.
Noleen Delaney is one of an army of night cleaners at St Angelus Hospital. Son Finn has done something unheard-of and passed his Eleven Plus exam. How on earth will they pay for his books, his grammar school uniform and shoes?
Bronia Ryan has battled depression since her husband died and now one of her sons is in prison. Her youngest, Lorcan, wants no part of a life of crime, but how can he ever escape? Or protect his mother from her vicious eldest son?
As usual, St Angelus is at the heart of things. Life and death, love and loss, jealousies, rivalries and betrayals are woven into a rich tapestry in Nadine's great series about poverty, sacrifice and community spirit in post-war Liverpool and the early days of the NHS.
Can't wait for the next one? CHRISTMAS ANGELS is out now!

Excellent book. Great storyline and wonderful main characters. I would recommend this book.
The third book in the 'Lovely Lane' trilogy by Nadine Dorries. This time the book centres around the mothers living in Lovely Lane and their lives and that of their families. Each family has their own troubles and we see how they manage to cope with everything. Of course the book still also focuses on the student nurses : Beth, Pammy, Dana and Victoria, they all have their own dramas going on also.
Nadine Dorries has a great way of developing the characters in her books and she does this with no exception in this book.
I love the characters of Biddy and Elsie and the banter that goes on between them. This is a wonderful saga set in the early 50's in Liverpool. This book could be read as a stand alone but if you do read this one first I
guarantee you'll want to read the other books in the series.
Excellent book I have resd the previous books in this series, and as alwsys a must read book it is difficult to put down as you want to know how it will end,.
Gives us insight into life in the dock community after the war and the difficulties that people went through and the friendships and community spirt that existed then and which is slowly disapearing.
Thank you netgalley, bookouture and the publisher for letting me read this book. I absolutely love Nadine Dorries and this book definitely didn't disappoint! If I could have given it ten stars I would have. A truly heart warming story that provided tears and laughs!! I would definitely highly recommend it.
WOW!!! Nadine Dorries has wowed me again with the third book in the Lovely Lane series.
Our lovely Nurses Pammy, Beth, Victoria and Dana continue their training at St Angelus hospital, bringing other favourites with them, along with all their individual dramas.
I didn't think this series could get any better after the last book, yet Nadine has proved yet again that there is yet more to come for these wonderful characters who I have come to care about.
I really wish I could award more than 5 stars, because it doesn't quite explain how much I have enjoyed this excellent book.
