Punny, clever, not off-color, and rated "G"-- compared with some Andrews McMeel recent releases. The ever-present battle between the rational brain and the emotional, go-with-the-feeling heart. Fat, gall bladder, tongue, stomach, and muscle characters thrown in. Cute with a few exceptionally witty illustrated observations. A book to enjoy once and then pass on to a friend.

Heart and brain are so relatable and real and funny. My organs approve!

If we were to take all the parts of life that some of us don't particularly like: as in budgets, diets, anxiety, book buying bans, etc and apply An Awkward Yeti tinted filter to it all, we would be enjoying ourselves a whole lot more. This was a great way to spend an hour of my day, and it made me smile many times which is well worth the read.

This collection of comic strips features a range of cute anthropomorphic body parts. Their conversations and adventures are funny and often highly relatable. It's fun to read through all in one go or to dip into whenever you feel like it.

Now if my organs could speak and converse among each other, this would be the perfect example of how their conversations would go. Also thanks to this book I got to understand one important thing

I am not the only one that her brains wakes up at 3 a.m because it has to check the phone notifications, or simply because it remembered something and wanted me to think and over-think about it in the middle of the night... And more the gut is grumpy!!! And growls for no reason! Oh for brains' sake stomach top doing it! -.-

Funny, witty and 100% relatable I loved this.

A big thank you for this opportunity!

Delightful drawings and humor. A wonderful collection.

Brain, Heart, Tongue, Gallbladder, and the test of Lars' quirky insides return with another collection that can easily be enjoyed and related to by any reader. After all, who has not felt torn between impulse and knowledge of what must be done, thoughts that rudely keep us up at night, or cravings that seem to beat our will power with stunning ease?

Like with all things Awkward Yeti-related, never have the shortcomings of our own inner workings been so wonderfully hilarious (which, as usual, are made all the better by the little nuggets of wisdom and insight sprinkled liberally all throughout)!

This collection of comics is so adorable, and spot-on with humor covering everything from Brain's emotional turmoil to Heart's unexplained amusement at Gut's flatulence. They're all pretty much standalone pages rather than having any longer arcs, but can still be funny or touching within very brief moments. The humor behind the Brain/Heart duo is completely accessible to anyone, but a few of the Awkward Yeti characters (Gall Bladder, Spleen, Kidney) will be more fully appreciated by those with a minimal knowledge of anatomy and at least the basic functions of each organ. Overall, very funny, cute and sweet!

Heart and Brain are back everyone!!! Love these two :D Always entertaining with their constant battles between smartypants brain and the ever playful heart! Cutely recreated in this bright and colourful graphic novel which is third in the "Heart and Brain" series by Nick Seluk a.k.a The Awkard Yeti. Read just one and you can't help but fall in love with the two cute starring organs and their organ friends.

Scientifically accurate (it's educational too!) with witty and realistic repartee is all you need to put a smile in your every day.

*Thank-you Nick Seluk, NetGalley & Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC.

Another funny installment of the goings-on and personalities of the human organs. Brain and Heart are the stars, naturally: Brain the Ren to Heart's Stimpy, the Cousin Larry to Heart's Balki, the Lisa to Heart's Bart.

Such a cute book! A lot of the discussions in the drawings are so relatable to the internal fight I sometimes have. I can relate to both the heart and the brain, but in different scenarios. And, sometimes the cartoon reminded me about me and my boyfriend, which made us both laugh together.

It is a nice, quick read for a laugh. The experience of the book is greater if you read it together with a friend whom you have great discussions with.

The organs and our Yeti author are back again with a new book full of hilarious situations that are super-relatable. From waking up at 3 am to tell you all about your biggest life's failures to valuing pizza over healthy foods.

The book is a mix of multi-panelled comics and one illustration comics. I quite like that the author mixed it up like this.

Most of the comics are about the organs, from the Bowels and his grumpiness and stinky farts to Heart who generally is very silly, but at times also wants to listen to Brain (on his terms though). But there are also comics with our author (the Yeti) dealing with health problems, with anxiety, and sleeping (darn that brain and waking people up in the dead of the night).

There were a lot of comics that were really relatable (like pizza is indeed better, salt on your food even if you haven't tried it yet, biting on your tongue, not falling for photoshop, why only take one pet when you can have more, and many more).

I had a big laugh at the eye roll comic, now every time I roll my eyes I see my eyeballs exercising. :P Thanks. :P

One comic was something I already saw another artist also do (the one with the language deteriorating), still funny that is apparently something more people think about.

The art is still great, it really captures the organs actions perfectly.

What more? Ah yes, a few of the comics I recognised from the author's twitter. It was fun to see them again.

All in all, I would recommend this book to everyone.

If you follow The Awkward Yeti's comics like I do, you already know you're looking at a good time with this book. I never get tired of the heart's shenanigans, the brain's desperate attempts to keep everyone in order, or the hilarious relatability of the intestines. Anyone who's got a human body can probably get a laugh out of at least a few of these, so I'd definitely recommend picking this one up if you're a comic reader.

<i>Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC! All opinions in this review are my own.</i>

The Awkward Yeti has done it again! Another collection of 100% relatable struggles as seen through the eyes of our internal--and even external--organs.

A collection of relatable and insightful realizations told through the point of view of our favorite set of organs. Heart and Brain are a pair that show the inner conflicts that each of us face in balancing what we NEED to do with what we WANT to do.

I have been following the Awkward Yeti on Instagram for over a year now and I still get that same feeling when his comics come up on my feed. I enjoy the placidity I feel in knowing that these struggles I go through in finding a balance are not my struggle alone. More often than not, I learn to see the world in a new way after reading one of his comics.

This latest compilation will leave you feeling humored. It suits as a great read for all ages.

Anything Awkward Yeti is enjoyable. I thought it was just going to be a collection of comics I had seen before, but there were a lot that I had never seen. I found all of them enjoyable, and loved the fact that characters that are not seen very often made appearances. My favorite is Gallbladder, so I'm glad he had his day. This is really just clean humor, which seems to be rare these days.

Oh Heart. Oh Brain. Fantastically amazing. Laugh out funny. Touching. And so relatable. This book has it all and more.

I love The Awkward Yeti and was excited to read this collection!
I was not disappointed! Even though I had seen a few already (I follow them on social media), I enjoyed rereading the one I had seen (unlike other comics). I laughed page after page watching heart and brain and a variety of other organs fight for dominance. The Awkward Yeti has become the personification of the human psyche as we strive to do the logical things vs the emotional things. I was able to empathize with the panels which added a depth to the humor.
This is a great collection for any fan!

Witty and smart. The Awkward Yeti is heavily relate-able! Would definitely get hands on the hardcopy on release.

I love how i can relate to brain, that anxiety bussines is way too real. I love how sometimes is dark and funny, and others are just good messages for when you have one those days when everything just seem awful.

Laughed at some of the comics in the book because they so relatable and true presented in a funny way. Totally recommend this to people who want to have a quick and fun read.

With each book that comes out I find more people to buy it who laugh real hard and have at least one page (if not the whole book) where they sympathize with the characters involved. I think this is my favorite collection of the heart and brain comics so far. Can't wait to put it in the hands of buyers.

My favorite Heart and Brain compilation so far from Awkward Yeti! It even had some strips I had not read before! Plus it features a lot of appearances by the other organs.

I have been following The Awkward Yeti on Instagram for a year...years...I don't know but its been a long time and I love his Heart and Brain comics. They are witty, ridiculously adorable, and funny! Sometimes even laugh out loud, crying funny!

This book seemed to revolve a lot around health, exercise, and anxiety, and I loved that Gallbladder made an appearance!! <3

Definitely one of my fave comic artists!

I adore Heart and Brain, and this third book is better than ever. Nick Seluk certainly has his finger on the pulse of day to day life for so many! The truth in each comic is what draws me back each time and makes each illustration worth reading. His art makes you feel like you aren't alone in your struggles, even the most mundane day to day things, reassuring you that we're all not so different after all.

I love these comics! They're so short and adorable. I follow the Awkward Yeti's Facebook page and love seeing them on my newsfeed from, so when I saw there was a collection of these comics in a book, I had to read it! These personified body parts are so silly that the book will have you laughing the whole way through. I think this concept is just fantastic because these anecdotes are so human that everyone can relate to something in here. Be sure to check out this book!

First, as far as the author’s pen name, I would like to point out that I’ve never met a Yeti who wasn’t awkward.
Second, I’ve read a previous collection of this comic strip, so I’m coming in with full awareness as to the brand of humor.
And most of all, Heart is so cute! And an airhead, of course. I have to assume there are plushies available.
Highlights:
“Pandora’s Web Browser.” That’s a thing.
“Give those back! I was making a point!” “Point taken.”
“They grow up so fast.”
“Protagonist!”
“Ssssshowtime!” and “Taste Buds!”
“Just song lyrics and movie quotes”. . . Yep.
See what happens when you roll your eyes. . .
Plenty of crazily humorous moments, well worth a perusal.

I love heart and brain! The Awkward Yeti is another one of those comics that really shows the situations of life in a way that is humorous, heartfelt and real.

I'm just a big fan of this webcomic, and it was everything I wanted it to be. Sometimes I relate more to the heart, and sometimes the brain.

What really gets me is the panels/comics where I'm 110% both.

Definitely recommend checking out this collection or the webcomic...or both. I still need to get my hands on the other two collections.

I have seen many of these on tumblr before (likely about half) however I still really enjoyed this book. So much good stuff in here! Many of the comics speak to me on a deeply personal level.

Teeheehee! I really enjoyed this collection of fun illustrations showing the colourful inner lives of internal organs.

I particularly liked the fun and non-judgemental references to anxiety and an overwhelming apathy towards exercise. Both things that I really relate to!

Get yourself a copy of this book when it's released, stick it in your bathroom and you need never take your phone to the loo with you again...

I stumbled on to this book and just had to read it even though I'm not sure I've actually ever seen anything from this comic line before. I'm glad I took the chance on it.

Heart and Brain: Body Language is cute and insightful. Showing all the ways your heart, your brain, and some of your other organs work together to help you live the fullest and best life possible. Brain always wants to go about things logically. Heart has all the feels and wants to be happy whatever the cost. Since neither can survive without the other, these delightful friends must find ways to work in conjunction or learn to live with the consequences of the other's choices. It's a cartoon full of fancy free wit that draws attention to realities of life but in a pleasing and humorous way.

4 stars!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me this review opportunity.

I received this book from Netgalley and I'm so happy that I did.

This book was so relatable and adorable at the same time. I think everyone will be able to get something from this collection of comics. The artwork is cute and the comic strips are great. We all have those moments in life that our heart and brain do not cooperate. This book shows those moments.

This book will have you bookmarking pages that you know describe you. If you're on the fence, just get it. You're heart and brain will thank you for it!

A VERY cute, funny and clever collections of comics starring the Human Body. This would be a FANTASTIC gift for anyone graduating from a medical program or working in medicine/biology/anatomy etc. It would also make an AMAZING gift for someone in the hospital or with an illness. My husband is waiting for a kidney transplant and I intend to pick him up a copy to lift his spirits during recovery!

As a medical professional myself and a previous Anatomy and Physiology tutor, I loved this book. But you don't have to be a doctor to enjoy these cartoons, all you need to have is a body.

Body Language is the third print book in the Awkward Yeti series, there is also a webcomic. The comic follows the day to day activities and struggle of a personified Brain, Heart and other organs. Heart is impulsive and whimsical while the Brain is logical and well organized.

I really enjoyed this book and seeing the struggle between impulse and logic. I myself, like many others, feel this struggle daily especially when it comes to food and impulse buys. This collection had me smiling and enjoying the stories and personalities that they organs had beyond what would be expected. I have been enjoying The Awkward Yeti webcomics for years and also really enjoyed this collection.

I love these comics and I love this compilation.. It is almost exactly how I feel, especially when it came to anxiety ones

I love Heart and Brain - they perfectly illustrate my total inability to handle money. Brain says: you don't need that. Heart says: I want it! Unfortunately, my heart never learned the difference between a "want" and a "need" which is why I blew all my textbook money on VIP Comic Con tickets. Anyway: Heart and Brain is one of my favorite webcomics ever, and I'm so happy to see them featured in another book.

This is a comic I have read bits and pieces of. When I got the chance to read a whole book, I jumped at it. All of the panels were good. Some were hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud. It was often relatable and always interesting. This was a really fun read and I highly recommend it.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I love coming across these comics on meme pages. I look forward to them. I follow the artist on social media sites. It is always a treat. I was stoked when I saw there was a book. Clearly I am behind the times as this is the third book out.

The basic premise is the organs of the body have personalities and they interact in pretty stereotypical ways. I just love the partnership between Brain and Heart. It might be weird to say, but I totally ship them. It took reading this book to understand that.

This book introduced me to a new character: Spleen. I hadn’t seen Spleen before and I have to say, I need to see more of them. They are dark and mysterious. I love it. I want to know so much more.

The book is hilarious in a nerdy way. The jokes are like those of the longer running comic strips like Calvin and Hobbes. The jokes are much deeper and I can appreciate that to no end. I am not a fan of low brow humor, it generally annoys me. You have to give this book a shot if you are a nerd or if you are tired of fart jokes. Trust me.

This is a very quick and easy read, some laugh out loud moments and it's very relatable.

Ideal to give you a little break if reading a heavy going book or one to help get you out of a reading slump or even when you just want a laugh.

Big thumbs up from me.

I picked up a calendar last year based on this comic strip and I wanted more! This book has it. We all know the divide between what the heart wants and what the brain wants. A lot of funny wisdom here.

Heart and Brain: Body Language is a graphic novel about the adventures of Heart and Brain. Besides Heart and Brain, you also have Gallbladder, Muscle,Tongue, Eyes,... Heart and Brain: Body Language is about the daily struggles of life.

Heart and Brain: Body Language is such a funny and relatable graphic novel! I couldn't stop laughing while going through the comics. It's such a brilliant book and I can't help notice that it's already the third book by Andrews McMeel Publishing that I love!

Heart and Brain: Body Language is a real recommendation for those who want to read something light and funny! I cannot wait to read another Heart and Brain book!

I have read all three of the heart and brain comic books now and I love all of them! This one follows in the footsteps of the first two with more comics showing other organs in the body and them talking to each other. I was so happy to get to see an advance copy of this book. I love heart, brain, and the other body organs are funny too, tongue especially. It's a good mix of light hearted humor. Highly recommend this one, it was an easy and good read! I received an advance copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

After only reading this comic when someone shares it on social media I knew I would enjoy this and boy was I right. I wasn’t planning on tearing through it in one read but it was impossible to stop. Now I need to get the rest of the comics. I didn’t feel at all left out since this isn’t the first collection. Most of these comics are self-contained and self-explanatory. Brain is being logical and heart lets his emotions take control. A fun and entertaining read and I now need to pick up more of them.

This comic is just what I needed this week. And it has so many fewer calories than #sheetcaking! Every time I’ve listened to some news, I’ve then turned to Heart, Brain, and their body buddies to lift me back up.

I love the conflict between Heart and Brain. They obviously work together, but pull equally hard in opposite directions too. Brain is the reader in me, always looking for more data and details. Heart is the mother in me, with ready hugs and ecstatic butterfly dances. The panels about Gut and intuition were great also, since I trust my gut most of the time.

This is a comic that’ll stand the test of time. I can’t wait to share it with the next generation.

Since this is the first time I’ve read one of The Awkward Yeti books, I’m now looking forward to going back to the earlier books and following them on social media. Maybe this way I’ll survive all the crazy in our world.

Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for a digital advance readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

This collection continues everything that is so wonderful about the Heart and Brain series. With plenty of humor and fun, this collection manages to speak straight to the heart of many of the struggles, hopes, fears, and triumphs that comprise the human experience. These comics are sincere, fun, relatable, and very funny. It's everything I was hoping to read.

Heart and Brain are at it again. This comic accurately depicts the conflicts that go on between our practical brain and our spontaneous and emotional heart. But sometimes, you just have to listen to your gut.

I am a very avid follower of the Awkward yeti page on Facebook and therefore had seen a few of the comics involved in the book before. That of course did not matter much since it did not alter the brilliance of the content.

There is not much that can be mentioned in the review since it is not a whole story as such but bits of conversations between various organs of the body , the main protagonists being the heart and the brain. The jokes are a few parts funny and other parts very real. This adds a whole new angle to the comics and is thoroughly enjoyable.

This is my first introduction to An Awkward Yeti. These comics are pretty darn funny, if a little warped. Come to think of it, they are mostly funny because they are a little warped. Most of the plot revolves the heart and brain, but many of my favorites were when other organs joined in (eyes, gut, tongue). Great original humor.

love love love every single page of this book! I've been following the author's instagram and facebook page for a while now and when i saw this book i had to get it! So much fun and humor in such tiny drawings! Loves every single page of it.

I LOVE the Heart and Brain series. It is like Seluk snuck inside my brain and found a way to make my anxiety, coffee addiction, and conflicted feelings about exercise undeniably humorous. This collection of one panel/ page comics is so down to earth that everyone will find something that strikes a chord. As always, the conflict between heart and brain is one that we all have to deal with. Budget vs. desire? Yep, that’s covered! Hopeless over thinker? That’s covered too! Throw in muscle cramps, food cravings, and a few token organs that occasionally annoy you and this baby is spot on the money when it comes to realistic humour.

The art work is simple and effective featuring bold lines, block colours, and cartoonishly abstracted representations of the organs. Seluk even manages to poke fun at these abstractions at one point through having heart dress up as anatomically correct, and it was cute little moment to plug the line of never trying to be something that you’re not. I have always enjoyed that while the brain often sweats, wears glasses, and is depicted pouring over a computer or papers while the heart chases butterflies and wears a batman cape. Okay, so it reinforces the stereotypes of rational vs impulsive people a little, but the trope is instantly recognizable and easy to understand even if you haven’t followed the webcomic or read the previous collections.

The beauty of this collection lies in it’s simplicity – it depicts real problems and situations, uses clean and easy to follow humour, and it doesn’t rely on fancy graphics to make up for a lack of content. And seeing as it’s filled with punchy one-liners and a few good book buying reference I can’t help but recommend it as a perfect short read. This is exactly the kind of book that I would leave out in my house to keep both guests and my husband occupied – or better yet, put this baby in a professional office or waiting room!

I was not expecting this to be so hysterically funny! I knew of, but had never read any Awkward Yeti and I think I'm just going to have to go back and read all of it! As someone who has had their gallbladder removed due to gallstones, Gallbladder was just the best!

Bwahahaha! So funny! So wonderful! I just love the hilarious antics of Heart and Brain. Each little comic is full of laughter and wit. And I love how even the Eyes, the Tongue, the Gallbladder, the Gut and Stomach, all play a part in the nonsense. The artwork is vibrant and fun, and each little panel brings something entertaining.
Love it!

The best thing about this comic is that the humor is clean and appropriate for all ages.

I received an ARC e-book copy of this book from NetGalley to review. I'm a huge fan of The Awkward Yeti comics and love to see the latest works of Nick Seluk posted on social media. Naturally, I was drawn to reading this book and it didn't disappoint! Every page is another hilarious and simultaneously insightful foray into the daily adventures of Heart, Brain, and company, who are all in their own ways friends and companions you'd like to have in your own life. I find myself constantly comparing parts of my thinking with happy-go-lucky Heart alongside perpetually-logically-analytical Brain, wondering which one I relate to more in each strip. There was only one typo in my copy (on page 105) and that was the only issue I found. Also, I appreciated the shoutout to other books and authors in Heart's and Brain's trip to the bookstore (page 115). Overall, loved this delightful read and highly recommend to anyone!

Heart and Brain: Body Language is yet another installation of a physical copy of a popular webcomic. Many of these within the book can be found online, if you don't know what to expect, but there are numerous new comics only to be found within this volume. They are, as expected, just as humorous and well-done as the rest. If you like anatomical humor, or humor in general, or Awkward Yeti, I would very much recommend reading this one!

I REALLY recommend it!

4 stars.
There are two stories in this brilliant book. One is the funny, smart joke side and humor. The other is the messages that these jokes give us about our own bodies and what we do to ourselves, or could do. Like a little warning message without being over the top and still allowing us to see the funny side. Its just the right combination of seriousness and humor.

There are so many really good points made and book is just amazing, funny, fun to read, cleaver and I would reccomend it to everyone.

<I>Received via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review</I>.

These comics are always, <b>always</b> funny. And often times, they're poignant, and will strike just the right note in whatever body organ you choose, but certainly your heart.

I don't know if I'm just going through a lot at the moment?? But I feel like this one was even more poignant than the previous collections. And I kind of wish they'd add overactive tear ducts to the organs featured in these stories.

I’ve been reading Awkard Yeti comics for about a year on Nick Seluk’s website. His comics feature Lars, the yeti, and his zany internal organs. Each organ has its own personality and affect the way Lars interacts with the world. Lars deals with coffee addiction and social anxiety; his Heart is whimsical and his Brain is pragmatic (but is often swayed by his Heart). The whole lot is super relatable.

While reading Heart and Brain: Body Language I found that though Seluk posts a fair amount of his comics online, they’re not all on the website. The book includes quite a few “bonus” comics and I appreciate Seluk’s use of primary “crayola box” colors (I don’t know how else to describe them). The color pallet is simple and bright, which makes even the difficult/frightening situation easy to read.

A number of the comics are single-pane, which I tend to be a fan of. Besides Seluk, Wiley Miller (the artists behind Non Sequitor comics) and Dan Piraro (author of Bizarro! comics) all do a pretty good job of making me chuckle in the 15 seconds it takes to read the panel. That’s what I call talent. If you click through the links to the other comic websites, I’m sure you’ll realize that my sense of humor is pretty strange. Still, I think this Awkwrd Yeti Collection will appeal to most people. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the collection relied so heavily on the stuff that's online for free. If you want to keep his work in a nicely bound book though, then this is perfect.

I never get tired of the Heart's shenanigans, the Brain's desperate attempts at order, or the hilarious relatability of Tongue and his cravings. Anyone who's got a human body can probably get a laugh out of at least a few of these, so I'd definitely recommend looking up the webcomic or picking up a copy of this collection.

The Awkward Yeti is always fun. Seluk somehow manages to strike a great balance between silliness, sarcasm, and sincerity. A perfect look at the contradictions inherent in being human (or, you know, a big blue yeti).

I wonder whether other publishing houses are jealous that Andrews McMeel has cornered on this market on fantastic comics like this one? I read Lady Stuff from them a couple weeks ago, and this weekend I read Heart and Brain and (one of!) The Oatmeal's new books. I am fortunate in that they often allow me advanced copies, which was the case here. I suppose if other houses have book envy right now, it's likely over Rupi Kaur.

I haven't had the pleasure of knowing Heart and Brain since the very beginning but once I discovered this comic that manages to be both lighthearted and slice rather deeply, I've latched on the same way I do to my morning coffee. Heart and Brain, along with a steadily increasing cast of other organs, discuss their daily travails and insights, always from their own perspectives.

Although I've always love both Heart and Brain, I think my newest favourite is Guts. That last comic above is one I should have as a print on my wall. If you've encountered this gang before, you may have previously seen some of the content before; if you haven't enjoyed these adventures, this is an excellent place to start. There were (less than a handful) of comics that I didn't really understand but who knows - could've been my Brain at the time.

I absolutely adored this book. It was funny, relatable, and so much more. It's amazing how so much could be said with just pictures. This is the type of book I think anyone could read and enjoy.

Love these! I first enjoyed the Heart and Brain comics a couple of years ago when my gallbladder threw a fit and had to be removed. These are a fun commentary on everyday experiences of any human with a body.
