Description
Lone wolf Donovan Wilde barely acknowledged his McKenna family legacy until Laurel Newkirk found him in the deep Wisconsin woods. Laurel claimed to have had a relationship with ‘Donovan Wilde,’ but this Donovan was stronger, sexier than the impostor who ran out on her. Suddenly Donovan finds himself yearning not only for love, but when his father is attacked, for family. He finally might be ready to be a McKenna, but would his family welcome him now? Would the impostor ruin it all for him by killing the woman he loved?

Patricia Rosemoor once again delivers an intriguing mystery with wonderful characterizations in NEVER CRY WOLF.
Goodreads reader:
Excellent gripping drama, mystery & romance
This
story has a lot of turns & twists that hold you attention unabated
until the end. you are never quite sure who the villain is until the
last. The only reason I did not read it cover yo cover in a single
setting is because I had to go to work. Well done!

I have seen this author's books before, but this is the first one that I've read. Happily it will not be my last. What a wonderful story from start to finish. Laurel is trying to find the man who she turned down his marriage proposal, just to make sure he was alright. She goes to his father's place, a politician in Chicago, to let him know she couldn't find his son. Together they go to Wisconsin, and run into difficulty. A deer runs across the road, the car gets stuck, so he walks towards his son's cabin. She gets tired of waiting, and follows. Hearing loud voices, she rushes to the spot and finds him laying on the ground. Another man appears, and helps her take him to the hospital, where finds out he is the son. However, she has never met this man before, so who was the man she thought was this Donovan? I don't want to give too much away, but this story is worth the journey. A fairly quick read, but well detailed. Laurel and Donovan make a great couple, and trying to figure out the mystery and fall in love was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend this book and author.
I was generously provided with an ebook arc of the re-release of this book by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review and here it is:
I love The McKenna's.
During my teenage years I remember reading a few of the McKenna Legacy books and to read one again now had me reminiscing over my teenage years and the many journeys I went on in the books that I read.
The McKenna family is a special family to me as it's one that I grew up reading about often over and over again and what I love most about the McKenna family is that they're not perfect but they are family and when push comes to shove and danger is close at hand, the family will put aside their differences and issues and close ranks. They'll help each other instead of tearing each other down and I think they're family is simply beautiful.
Never Cry Wolf was a good warmth inducing book that left me with a feeling of having visited with old friends and family for a while and enjoyed the journey along the way.
In reading this book, I especially enjoyed learning things about wolves and their behavior that I had not previously known
Definitely heavier in the romance genre than I usually delve, "Never Cry Wolf" by Patricia Rosemoor has suspenseful, thriller overtones. Lone wolf Donovan Wilde is estranged from his family and certainly never acknowledged the McKenna family legacy. It is Laurel Newkirk, however, who awakens the family tie he can no longer neglect. The legacy, "Act selflessly in another's behalf, and my legacy will be yours."
Laurel arrives at his family's door after she claims Donovan has gone missing. "Her" Donovan had proposed, but upon her hesitation he mysteriously disappears. She worries something bad must have happened since she feels he would not have left without further word to her. The Donovan family, however, together in the family mansion for a private celebration, deny it could have been "their" Donovan, who is definitely not as she describes. Fortunately, the father, a well known and powerful U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin, takes her story very seriously and together they set out to find his missing son--or the imposter. Unfortunately, the congressman is attacked and the real Donovan (not missing in his own native element) appears in time to rescue his dad and get him to the hospital.
Laurel discovers an immediate intense interest in this Donovan, and he the same in Laurel, but tries to deny the attraction. The sexual tension between the two provides a conflict, but only serves to draw them together in their search not only for the imposter but the perp who attacked his father. Donovan is grudgingly drawn into the family fold in their collective concern for his dad where he realizes there is an unspoken bond.
In the meantime, they examine Donovan's connection to the plight of the wolves and his work with tagging and tracking the individuals of the pack in his wild and remote northern region of the U.S. Laurel's interest in the passionate controversy is examined and provides the connection.
There are some paranormal overtones, but the heat of the romance takes center stage and provides the source of the cause-driven plot, along with the answer to the legacy. This title was originally published in 1998 with a different cover; now updated. I was provided, and greatly appreciated, a pre-published copy (that needs one more edit) by NY Times Best Selling author Patricia Rosemoor and Season Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Recommended women's fiction read.
Never cry wolf is a very well written book . I am hook on this series.
Donovan doesn't acknowledge his heritage but must when family is attacked. Laurel comes looking for him in Wisconsin for his family and to settle an old attraction. Read this book in paperback a few years ago and was excited to find the digital copy to read and re-acquaint with this series.
Ebook from Net Galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
