Description
Ye All Are Warned – be gone if you abhor sex, foul language, crude humor, and beaky parrots.
Welcome to the wickedest city on earth...1689 Port Royal, Jamaica. Atia Crisp and her sister Livia are shipwrecked and sold into slavery. Separated, Atia finds herself a pawn in a deadly card game until she is liberated by sugar merchant Capitaine la Roche.
Capitaine la Roche is also known as the pirate Gator Gar and has a past stained with blood and grief. He deals in Port Royal with a network of friends and allies including the kindly Dr. Strangewayes. When scarlet fever wreaks havoc on the city, he offers sanctuary to Atia and La Roche in his plantation. Bonds of friendship are formed and the fierce love between Atia and Capitaine la Roche becomes absolute.
However, nowhere is safe as spies seek out both Atia and la Roche for the bounties on their heads. Neither of them can escape the shadows of their former lives. Their journey leads to an inevitable conflict that threatens their world, but inches them closer towards freedom.
Advance Praise
"This story was surprisingly engaging and detailed. You can easily notice a lot of research was done about the time and vessels. Don't worry, even if you - like me - are not familiar with nautical terms you will do just fine. In my case, I can even say I learned a lot!" - Audiobookish, June 4, 2017 - Amazon.com

I very much enjoyed this swashbuckling tale of pirates. It reminded me somewhat of the old movies I used to watch on TV on a Saturday afternoon as a child, though the violence and sex is rather more graphic in this book. A really good read.
If you're looking for a novel full of pirate shenanigans, this book is for you! I do think the book started out a bit slow but it definitely picks up and you won't be able to read it fast enough. I did get a little overwhelmed with all of the characters at first, thinking I would forget who they were but when they were brought up again, the book was descriptive enough that I placed them fairly quickly. I enjoyed so many of the characters and their histories. I love how discriptive everything was, it really helps immerse you in the story. I will say I'm surprised there were things left up in the air, I guess with it being so long I expected everything to be tied up neatly. The ending really makes me want one more book added to the series! I would absolutely recommend this to people who enjoy period novels.
Don't let the length of this read scare you off - it's a wonderful read full of action, adventure, and shenanigans. With a stunning and sordid backdrop and descriptions that are vivid but shy away from the grotesque, any pirate/adventure lover will want to pick up this book. If you are looking for lurid and gory descriptions in your story, then this is not the book for you.
