Description
Realizing that no modern stories exemplified the true meaning of Christmas like the classics of yesterday, he set about putting his storytelling prowess to use - holiday use. And when he decided to recite a short story for his then eight-year old daughter at her birthday party as a way of imparting to her the true message of Christmas, he never realized that it would one day be a much-anticipated inspirational novel. His book, Mary's Son, is a modern-day story in which a mysterious old man named Nicholas must teach the true meaning of Christmas to Jared Roberts, a thirteen-year-old tough kid from the slums of Penford, and Sarah Stone, an eleven-year-old rich girl who lives "on the hill" in Penford Heights. The story has grown over the years, but always the lessons were clear about keeping Christ in Christmas and learning to "love your neighbor as yourself."
Nyznyk's desire is to reinvigorate an America desperate for hope that the world really is a good place. To this end, he writes stories of intrigue and whimsy, of fantasy and reality, and ultimately of mainstream issues and pains that are solved using the values of freedom, family, and honor upon which this country was based. He lives in Manhattan Beach, CA. Mary's Son, is a three-time gold recipient of the Mom's Choice Awards and is a finalist for the 2011 Benjamin Franklin Award.
