Gold Frankincense and Murder by Barbara Early was a good story. When Donna's co-worker disappears she turns for Geometry teach to detective to try and find him, where she meets his charming and hunky neighbor, Sam. The sparks fly but she wonders if Sam could be involved. I enjoyed the interactions between Donna and Sam. Fun read with mystery and romance. I received this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Donna works at the local food bank. When a coworkers fails to arrive for his shift, she decides to investigate. At his apartment, she meets his hunky neighbour who has the key to her coworker’s apartment. When they discover his body, she decides to investigate with his help.

Gold Frankincense and Murder is a Christmas cozy mystery by Barbara Early. It is fairly short, more a novella, and is listed as Christian romance which I hadn’t noticed when I requested the book from Netgalley because I really liked the cover and the title. The Christian theme was fine although it kinda felt as if it was shoehorned into the story. But the romance – okay, I will admit I am not a fan of romances at the best of time and especially not love (or perhaps lust is more accurate) at first sight - what can I say, bona fide curmudgeon here. Still, there was a nice touch of humour which I always appreciate and it was short enough that I could, for the most part, overlook the romance and enjoy the mystery.

Thanks to Netgalley and Pelican Book Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

This book was published in 2011 and is an okay Christmas story but nothing outstanding. The story had a good plot and was set around a food bank during the holiday season. Not very long it gives you a romance and cozy mystery in a condensed form. This book is listed under a Christian story but I didn't get anything pushy while I read.

Princess Fuzzypants here:
Donna volunteers in a Food Bank in Buffalo. She has developed a friendship that might lead to more with one of her fellow workers. It is upsetting when he does not turn up for his shift. It is even worse when he shows up in The Niagara River- dead. He seems like such a nice guy so no one can figure out who killed him and why.
His neighbour, Sam, wants to help Donna figure out the mystery but Donna is uncertain if Sam can be trusted, especially since she is awfully attracted to him and does not trust herself. The villain turns out to be someone unexpected and it almost gets Donna killed.
This is a short and quick book. I can tell you that reading about the winter weather in Buffalo is the most chilling part but it is still good for a couple of hours of reading.
I give four purrs and one paw up.

Although this book lacks depth and its characters are a bit stereotyped, its plot progresses nicely, keeping you guessing who the murderer might be until the end of the story. If you like cozy holiday mysteries with a bit of humor and romance, "Gold, Frankincense, and Murder" is a light-hearted and entertaining read.
