I received this book from Netgalley prior to publication. This novel is about Clare, a Pulitzer Prize winner from her days in newspaper regarding a case of a missing girl, 11 year old Lucy Devlin. It seems Clare is destined to become Lucy’s disappearance long after the headlines die down and Lucy is still missing. A string of remarkable coincidences keep Clare after the truth of what became of Lucy. And more disturbing, the lives of other children found in a mass grave nearby where Lucy was last seen. Through a cast of characters who may or may not have information regarding the missing and deceased children, Clare embarks on a journey to get to the truth. No matter the cost. Deliciously thrilling. You will not see the ending coming.

An intriguing read. A good mix of mystery and suspense that keeps the reader interested. Also a few surprising twists. A book I would recommend to all.

Clare is the outstanding reporter who worked tirelessly for the Devlins when their eleven year old daughter was kidnapped. It is has been 15 years since Lucy Devlin disappeared. The case has gone full circle. Now Clare finds herself looking deeper into the story. What she finds surpasses anything you could imagine. There's politicians, and motorcycle gangs thrown into the mix.
The character Clare, for a fast paced, award winning reporter she does a lot of dumb stuff. She trusts what a suspect says. She almost gets involved with a suspect. She goes to places she shouldn't and she divulges names, and places to everyone. That is not what an alleged great reporter does. I wanted to smack her every time she shared crucial information. So, I guess that shows how involved I got with the character. Overall, entertaining, exciting and has a kick-ass ending!!

Yesterday’s News by R.G. Belsky

This is another digital ARC that I was lucky enough to read. Yesterday’s News is about a journalist who helps to uncover the truth about the kidnapping case of Lucy Devlin. This book was more than what I was expecting.

Clare Carlson’s biggest news story was the coverage of the kidnapping case of Lucy Devlin. The case unfortunately went cold. Fifteen years later, the mother of little Lucy says she has received information from an anonymous person about seeing Lucy years ago on the back of a motorcycle at a motorcycle convention. Clare decides to investigate this new information, and finds more than she bargained for. Six children’s bodies which had been found years previous are somehow related to Lucy’s disappearance. A man who is running for New York’s U.S. Senate position is also somehow connected.

I was shocked at some of the connections between the different pieces of information that Clare uncovered. While this story is sad due to the fact that most of the children who were murdered were victims of domestic abuse, this story was an enthralling read. I wish more of the characters were subjected to justice for the crimes they took part in. However, this shows the realistic-ness of humanity’s darker side.

Clare Carlson is a news editor for a television news program, but she used to be a hard-nosed journalist. When new evidence is revealed about the disappearance of Lucy Devlin, a child that disappeared years ago and whose story created Clare's big break, Clare jumps in again with both feet. The story continues with plenty of suspense and a fast pace - but there is something about Clare's relationship to the story that is revealed about halfway through the book that makes the reader question everything. Unfortunately, Belsky doesn't really follow up on this aspect of the story in a satisfactory way and the plot point was unnecessary and detracted from the overall story. That said, It was a good read and I would read another by Belsky.

Yesterday's News is about Clare Carlson who works for a TV News station although now she is in a managerial position back when she was reporter she became obssessed with the disappearance of an eleven year old girl named Lucy Devlin. Now, new evidence has come to light in the case. Clare is determined to solve the mystery of what happened to Lucy both for Lucy's dying mother and for herself because there is just something drawing her to the case. This fast-paced thriller is very unpredictable. It is impossible to put down and fun to read. You will never know where the story is going until you reach the final pages. If you like a good mystery you'll enjpy this book.
