Description
James Bloom has prayed three years for rain and five years for a wife. His dreams are demolished on Palm Sunday, 1935, when a catastrophic dust storm hits Oklahoma, and his neighbor’s niece has to ride out the storm at his house–-overnight. The next day, he’s forced to marry her, an East coast city girl who can’t speak. Could this be God’s plan?
Condemned to a future married to a stranger in the dusty Oklahoma wasteland, Lily Driggers longs for her home. Yet somehow, her new husband is the only one who understands her silent pleas.
As Easter approaches, Lily and James wonder if there is hope after the storm.

This was a sweet short story about two people forced together but eventually fell in love..
Waiting for Lily Bloom is a touching inspirational romance. Well written with a good plot. I highly recommend this book .
Lilly is visiting her aunt and uncle when a dust storm arrives and she is caught at a neighboring farmer's home overnight. The two are married. Lilly is unable to speak, but the two find ways to communicate.
This was a very sweet story, I wish it had continued longer. It was enjoyable.
This is the first story I have read by Jericha Kingston. Waiting for Lily Bloom is a sweet story that takes place in the Oklahoma dust bowl in 1935. Lily Diggers, a deaf girl from the East who is visiting family and James Bloom, their neighbor, are caught in a dust storm overnight. They are forced to marry to save her reputation. Can they learn to love each other or will she leave when her father comes to take her back home? A bit of history in a sweet story.
I received this book from NetGalley with no expectations for a positive review. All expressed opinions are my own.
Waiting For Lily Bloom this is a very sweet love trials, prayers that appear on answered, catastrophes that turn into Blessings, gunshot weddings, historical romances, special communication and the LORD in the middle of it all and in control. James wants his farm to succeed but will it if they have another dry Year? Lily is down for a visit with her aunt and uncle, did she really expect to be caught in and unreal dust storm at James's house and it would end up getting her married? Did both of them know their hearts would grow to care so much for each other when they first met? Did they know the LORD would move in their lives so much?
I enjoyed the setting and once James and Lily were more used to communicating, their relationship was fun to watch develop. It was a fast sprint to “I love you” but this is a novella so I wasn’t too surprised. I just wish religion wasn’t one of the main things used to make one character the villain. B-
