Description
Cancel the wedding. The
groom is dead.
When a tycoon’s son is murdered the night before
his wedding, the grief-stricken father offers private detective Dan Reno a
life-changing bounty to find the killer.
Reno, nearly broke, thinks
he’s finally found himself in the right place at the right time. But when a
band of crooked cops get involved, Reno finds himself fighting for his life.
Who committed the murder, and why? Which cops
can he trust, if any?
Haunted by his murdered father and a violent past, Reno wants no more blood on his hands. But a man’s got to make a living, and backing off is not in his DNA.
Traversing the snowy alpine winter in the Sierras and the lonely deserts of Nevada, Reno must revert to his old ways to survive. Because the bounty won’t do him much good if he’s dead.

Stateline is book number one in the Dan Reno series and I enjoyed it, a great start to the series. I found it an easy read but more of a crime/detective/investigation story than a thriller.
This story has it all! Fights, drugs, hookers, alcohol, crooked cops, gambling… You name it this book has it. It is action packed! However, I did find some of the chapters very long. I liked the PI (private investigator) Dan, he doesn’t mess around. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for Dan in this series. I awarded four stars and would recommend to you all. Keep your eyes peeled for book number 2 shortly called Blind Luck.
This is a debut novel and the first in a series, which is always good to get in at the beginning of a series.
The book follows the main character Dan Reno, who is a Private Investigator who is offered the big money job of a lifetime.
The book really gets into Reno's back story and history, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading about as it brings the characters to life more and really engaged me as a reader.
The book is a brilliant read with lots of danger and intrigue, I liked how the author has made Reno more realistic with his life problems and through this makes you really care about him and want him to survive.
There is lots of adventure in the book, which I am hoping the author carries on through the rest of the series.
Overall I felt this was a brilliant read, and can't wait for the rest of the series.
This is the first introduction to Dan Reno, a likeable private detective. He is swept up in an investigation after the death of a billionaire son on the eve of his wedding.
The book takes us on a journey including murder, drugs, corrupt cops and prostitution.
I really enjoyed getting to know Dan Reno and hope to read more of his antics in the future. I also loved the billionaires assistant, who really came into his own towards the end of the book.
There are lots of twists and turns and the book travels at a non-stop pace. If you are after a fast paced crime novel with a bit of everything then this is the book for you.
Stateline is such an interesting story with an equally intriguing main character in Dan Reno. He isn't perfect and definitely has his flaws but I guess this just makes the story all the more entertaining. Reno is trying to sort his life out and when he is offered the chance to earn some serious money looking for a murderer he decides to take it. However this just sets him on a very dangerous and twisty path. Reno is reckless at times but this definitely helps ramp up the tension.
There is a lot going on in this story such a corruption, murder and drugs but it all unfolds in a way that provides some pretty tense moments too. The story takes place in a few different locations but I felt this helped keep the momentum of the story up. I'm looking forward to seeing what is in store for Dan Reno in the next book.
Gritty and dark from start to finish!
Four stars from me!
With thanks to Sarah at Bloodhound Books & Netgalley for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
I enjoyed this book which is the first in the Dan Reno series.
I thought Reno was a great character and I am looking forward to see how his character develops over the upcoming books. This was a great start to the series. the writing style was great and the pace and plot were spot on.
It was a fairly quick read for me and I was really taken with the plot line and the punchy nature of the book as soon as I settled in to the story, which I will admit too me a little while longer than normal but as soon as I was in to it I wanted to carry on reading where I could.
I thought that everything worked really well in the book and I have given it four stars and looking forward to reading the rest of the books later this year!
Absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the next book in the series. I could barely put the book down. Had no idea who did what in this thriller (which is the idea) but really well written. I particularly liked the epilogue that tied up all the little ends and finished the story perfectly. Now just to get my husband to read it too.
