Description
Klimt was one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. He was both influenced by and shaped the city of Vienna at the turn of the century, undertaking several public commissions. Klimt travelled little, but trips to Venice and Ravenna, as well as annual summer holidays with the Flöge family on the shores of Attersee, were a source of inspiration and influence on his creative output.
Fully illustrated, the book features paintings, archive imagery and photographs of the surrounding city and landscape to provide an insight into how the people and places of his life relate to his work.

This illustrated book encapsulates Klimt's life, art, lovers, and acquaintances in fin-de-siècle Vienna.
Beautiful look at Gustv Klimt's art and life. I love the exploration of his different works - of course The Kiss is famous but his other work is so beautiful and the influence of music and his life in Vienna is a fascinating element to understand his style and details.
What a fabulous book. Full of interesting facts about Klimt and so much I didn’t know. The author has certainly done his research and wow! The photographs are fantastic. This is a book I must see in the flesh and I will certainly be buying a copy for my coffee table.
Whilst a simply adore anything by Gustav Klimt, I know very little about him, his life, his friends and his inspiration. This book, half coffee table, half reading book, goes a long way in introducing me to him and his life. Very well written, easy to read with absolutely fantastic artwork and photos. Anyone interested I Klimt should really read this book.
As a lover of Klimt's art, I was interested to read this gorgeous book about his life and surroundings. It's beautifully illustrated with photographs of the artist, his models and friends, and shows his studio and home plus Vienna as it was in his era. This is a lovely coffee-table book which gives some insight into the man and the times he lived in.
Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.
A beautifully illustrated biography of Klimt and his homes in Austria. The biography is a good over view of the artist and well written. I really enjoyed reading the stories behind the paintings. The illustrations are the real stars here. Anyone with an interest in art and Klimt will enjoy reading and looking at this book
