While many tai chi books focus on one school or style, this books shows routines from several. The introductory material is clear and helpful, and the photographs are useful for the beginner as well as for those now "out of practice." The photographs show the subtle differences in stance and positioning that other tai chi books do not. i would recommend this book.
A good basic book on Taichi with clear illustrations and a good introduction to the principles of tai chi, emphasising on the mind-body connection and breaking down the nuances of each pose.
A very well detailed and described book about TaiChi. At times though, I felt like it was giving me almost too much details on the history. While interesting, I tended to skip over a lot of it, and get to the actual moves. I like how detailed the images are, and they are easy to follow. Would highly recommend this book, especially for a newbie like myself. I like this much more than yoga.
I was thinking about joining a tai chi class and wanted a little background on why I should choose this movement form over another such as yoga. It was informative with lots of illustrations. It broke down the different schools and has got me really interested.
I live in a place where the practitioners of Tai Chi are visible at any time of day in picturesque locations, practicing and looking very graceful while doing it. I was so curious that I talked my husband into signing up for a class with me. Unfortunately in the limited period we had, we did not get very far (especially since we did not attend half the classes). The abandoned attempt apart, we found it very hard to actually do and now we marvel at the practicing people with even more admiration.
I jumped at the chance of getting to know more about the art and requested this book on NetGalley. It was a very interesting read. It has introduction, history and even tips on how to actually practice it. Overall a good investment of time and gives a window into a whole new 'old world' charm. This of course would serve as a good entry into the field but actual personal training would probably be required to master it.
