Description
She’s not really a pirate, but the captain doesn’t need to know it.
Her sister’s life depends on her acting the part.
Reluctant pirate Stevie Sauvage is on a quest with her family to find a secret treasure when her eight-year-old twin siblings are kidnapped and the ransom demand is a merchant ship called the Seeker. Stevie must find the courage to conquer her fears and fight for those she loves.
Italian-born, French privateer Drago Viteri Gamponetti (Gampo to his men) has coveted the Ahern merchant fleet for years, and sets a trap in Jamaica. Unfortunately, he has two small rascals aboard; a boy who wants to be just like him, and a girl that will either steal him blind or turn his black heart.
When Captain Conal O’Brien discovers that the pirates work for his sworn enemy, he doesn’t resist capture. But these nutty brigands aren’t who they seem to be, and if Conal’s not careful, he’s going to lose his heart as well as his ship to the woman determined to steal both.
Pirate Heiress is a high seas, historical, pirate romance filled with action and adventure, mystery and intrigue, and a quest for hidden treasure!
A Note From the Publisher
Designed as a stand alone in the Pirates & Petticoats series, it does feature a few characters from the Hart Trilogy. This is Conal O'Brien's story!
Advance Praise
"This is a stand-alone story by this author, although some of the characters in her Hart saga appear in this pirate romance. I just gave it away, didn’t I? It’s a super duper pirate romance and I loved it! As in the Hart saga, there are a couple of old mysteries to be solved, some with written clues and some with innuendo and family histories, but the mysteries add to the spice in this adventure story. It is also a story about family and the love between its members as they fight danger, kidnapping and high seas drama. It captivated me from page one to The End and I heartily recommend it." ~Verified Amazon Purchase

Captain Conal O’Brien is ready to fight for control of his ship until he discovers the pirates commandeering it work for his sworn enemy. What better way to locate the pirate’s secret stronghold than to sail right into it? It’s not long before he realizes these brigands aren’t who they seem to be, and if he’s not careful, he’s going to lose his heart as well as his ship to the woman determined to destroy both.
My Thoughts:
I re-read this title in just over one day after having read it previously in September of 2016. I had recently read 2 other books by this author and was impressed enough that I will look for other titles by her.
The characters were engaging (especially the eight year old twins) and the storyline well developed. I will keep this author on my list for future offerings.
I would give this book a 4.0 of 5.0 star rating for storyline and characterization.
I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher and author in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fast paced story full of action and adventure. Most of the action takes place on various ships and an island. There is plenty of action, including a treasure hunt that is linked to their ancestor, Anne Bonny, a pirate, through her letters written a hundred years ago. There is also battle at sea and a budding romance. The family connections are very important in this storyline. The young twins, Jacqueline and Julian were delightful. I hadn’t read any of the previous titles but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this book. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A misguided belief of betrayal, years of tremulous periods and attempts of murder at each other, Conal’s family has been at the root of Gambo’s retributions, for the unpardonable sin he considered his partner committed. Not to be outdone, the O" Brien's retaliated in kind, every opportunity that arises, such a waste of time and energy revenge is, now Stevie and her family have fallen deep smack into the midst of it. Used as stooges by Gambo, they have now become reluctant pirates, be it ill-prepared ones, but with much at stake. Been kidnapped by such an inept bunch was very embarrassing for captain Conal O'Brien, he just couldn’t believe it, nor could he fathom why he was falling for the brash lady, who was also one of the kidnappers, heck she was the one who held the gun to his head. What a conundrum, falling in love was the last thing on his mind, but love is no respecter of persons and isn’t beholden to time either. Mischief, misadventures, battling armies all help to make this story very interesting, glazing it over with unexpected thrills, and adventure thereby presenting a wonderful romantic package. The storyline has lots of twists at every turn and the characters did it justice, a wonderful, fun, entertaining and romantic read.
I actually liked this story , it remind me of why I loved to read historical romance , loved the characters as well as the story , can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series as well as more by this author. Thinks Netgalley for letting me find a new historical romance author to read.
I picked this book because it had pirate in the title. For some reason, I love books with pirates (thank you Johnny Depp!). I immediately think adventure, the high seas, danger, and intrigue. This had some of them but, overall, it ended up being just OK. First, the characters I loved: Harvey and Bernard! Those two made the book for me. They were funny together and provided the laughs. I wouldn't mind if there was a book with those two. I also loved the twins. They were cute and I liked the relationship they forged with the "bad" pirate. As for the two main love interests? Well, I could have done without them. Actually, I felt that their romance was pretty much non-existent. I didn't " feel" the love between them. Stevie as the heroine was, well, kinda boring. She wasn't a badass pirate either, which I was hoping she would be. Conal was OK but still kind of boring as the hero. The side characters is what made me enjoy the book. The fist half was slow but more action happens the second half, and that's the part I loved the most.
