This book was not only enjoyable to read, but had adorable pictures! I loved the cat mindfulness tips!
Purrfection is all about everything cat. The book begins with a historical account of cats and their relationships with humans. The next section discusses the interesting biology of cats. Interspersed among the text are beautiful cat photos, quotations, and cat poetry.. Oh, my! and then there's a cat quiz! Other amazing extras in this book include downloadable audio purr files, yoga poses you can do with your cat, interesting cat-focused apps and websites, patterns for cat accessories, and cool cat places to visit. I will buy this book--even though I know a lot about cats already, it has lots of interesting things to learn and use. Purrfect!
A very good book about cats with a lot of interesting information and curiosities.
Even if I read other books about cats and their behaviour it was nice to have them collected in a single book.
The pictures are lovely.
Strongly recommended to cat lovers.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Schiffer Publishing Ltd.
A book all about cats! What could be better? This cute little book will have your purring with pleasure as you learn all about our feline friends. Copious adorable photos of cats are generously sprinkled throughout the book too.
The author begins by giving a history of cats. Where did they come from and when did they become domesticated? There are many historical misconceptions about cats and you will learn of them here. And, did you know that cat flaps already existed in the fourteenth century? The history of cats is fascinating. The author chose some cat-related poems to include as well. These help the reader understand the place of cats in history.
There is a whole chapter on the Maneki Neko, the famous porcelain cat statues from Japan. These are the good luck cats with the raised paws that are seen everywhere nowadays. There are even cafes in Japan where you can go to meet cats and enjoy their company! Sounds like a lot of fun to me.
Other things you learn in this book include the feline “superpowers,” such as their amazing ability to see in the dark. And what herbs are appealing to cats. (It’s not just catnip.) The book is also packed with good advice. What sorts of foods to avoid giving your cat, ways to make your cat happy and healthy, and more. You even learn how to interpret a cat’s various meows. As any cat owner knows, a cat has a big vocabulary. Then, of course, there is a section all about purring. Why do cats do it and what benefits does it have for cats and their humans. There is even a recording you can download at the book’s web site.
There is advice on how to connect with your cat too. Yes, you can do yoga with your cat. Learn how to interpret their various body language poses too. Cats have a lot of these! This book is chock full of good stuff like this. Did I mention the stunning cat photos? You’ve got to see them! No cat lover can resist them.
Overall, this book was amazing. I loved how much information was packed into such a short space. It’s not a really long book, but there are a lot of details. I learned plenty of things that I didn’t know, even though I have owned cats most of my life. There are so many fascinating details to glean. You can even make cat crafts with patterns provided in the book. Purrfect! I enthusiastically recommend this book for all cat lovers! Your cat will thank you.
Purrfection offers a great deal of insight into cats. It starts out with an overview of cat history and goes over the superpowers and offers advice on important things such as feeding, brushing and what foods to avoid.
It explores our connection to cats and includes the ever popular 'Purr Therapy'.
I especially liked the section "Between the Two of Us' as there's fun things like cat stretching and signs of love. And, Kitty Fashions," is a fun section for us who enjoy crafting.
This book also includes the benefits employers recognize when they allow staff to bring their cats to work. In truth, the majority of bookstores we frequent have cats which roam the isles. So when I want to read a book on cats, I go where I can pet one or two.
Purrfection is a great book for any cat lover. With yoga you can do while holding your cat to ideas to create mindfulness this book is a great way to bring spirituality to you and your pets life. I loved the cover of this book.
This book is both visually delightful and informative. It's more than a shiny coffee table book, however, as it contains some real recipes for happiness with your kitty. From Purr Therapy to cat yoga, to just gazing into the beautiful eyes of your feline, Macheteau captures some of the magic that cats possess and why their humans can love them so fiercely. Her message that kitties and humans can be very good for one another is anchored with gorgeous photography and a wealth of additional information and resources.
A lovely book.
If you only want to grab this book for the beautiful photographs, you will get your money's worth but you will be delighted by what else is between these covers. From feline history to health care tips and crafts, this is a very complete compilation of things feline.
I look forward to listening to the included audio files of purring.
I was a bit dismayed about all the apps for cats. As we know, being a cat "owner" or companion comes with a duty to provide your cats with ways to be entertained. My cats were with me on the desk as I was reading this book. I anticipate finding a list of demands conveniently placed here shortly. They may not have opposable thumbs but they can make their desires clearly known.
The book is interesting, entertaining and a joy to page through.
