Description
In this sequel to DEATH LEGACY, New York, psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Reiner is contacted by a woman who claims she was married to his father after his mother's death and his father's disappearance from his life. Tiffany Tyler asks Daniel to take charge of the girl she claims to be his half-sister. But when Daniel tries to make contact, it seems the girl has disappeared.
Daniel wants to hire Michelle Hallam to help him investigate the situation in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michelle's deceased uncle, a former British intelligence agent, operated an international "consulting firm" which she now runs. Michelle and Daniel share some past history as well as a strong physical attraction but Michelle remains wary of him.
Daniel has a friendly, warm personality, and urban wit in contrast to Michelle's outward faCade of cool cynicism. Things become complicated and heated in Las Vegas, involving Michelle and Daniel in intrigue, romance and murder. This fast-paced novel combines elements of suspense thriller, mystery and romance.

Dr Daniel Reiner is back with the help of Michelle Hallam is looking for a sister he never knew he had. He receives a phone call telling him to go to Las Vegas to get his half sister he never knew about as his father has died and the step mother is going to remarry and can't take care of the girl. There is more going on than they know about when they arrive the girl is gone and so is the cousin she was to be staying with at the time. This story brings some bodies and mob after them. They also are dealing with the attraction they have for each other. Great sequel to Death Legacy.
Dr. Daniel Reiner had a Park Avenue practice and it had been a hectic day. Things had picked up in the last year and a lot of it was due to Daniel’s partner and fellow psychiatrist -Morris Lerner. Morris had already had a thriving practice and wife with two young kids. Morris wanted more time with his family. Daniel was single and just starting out so he was a good fit. Daniel had been raised by his grandparents when his mom had died from cancer when Daniel was a young child and his father let the orphaned child. Then Daniel got a phone call from a woman who had been married to his father who had died a year ago. Daniel had lost contact with his father along time ago. Daniel realized his father had been out of his life too long for his death to matter to Daniel. The woman said she had called to let Daniel know he had a sister she would be eighteen in six months and her name was Beth. then the woman said her name was Tiffany and she was remarrying. Her fiance travels a lot and Beth can’t go. Beth was in Vegas with Tiffany’s cousin who was a gambler and tiffany didn’t think it was a good thing for Beth to be with him for very long. Tiffany wanted Daniel to go to Vegas and bring Beth back with him until she was eighteen and she could then go out on her own. The next afternoon Daniel walked to the office of International Consultants to talk to Michelle Hallen. But he was told he couldn’t see her without an appointment. Michelle had told him that Daniel and her didn’t fit as a couple and they had stopped seeing each other. But he needed her professional help. Daniel asked Michelle if she wasn’t curious to see what Daniel wanted after he caught her coming out of the elevator. As she went to leave. Then Daniel thought maybe he should talk to his partner Morris about his obsession for Michelle. Yet somehow he knew Michelle. Yet somehow Daniel knew Michelle was the only one who could solve his problem. Daniel had never felt the level of passion he felt for Michelle before and somehow knew he never would again. Daniel tried to get a hold of the cousin Robert and got the landlord said robert was back on rent and got the landlord to go back to Robert’s apartment and and there was noone there and no possessions either. Daniel couldn’t get a hold of Tiffany either. Daniel sensed something was wrong and every instinct told him this was going to be no simple matter. He really needed Michelle’s help as she was no ordinary P I. she ran a highly specialized consulting firm. Her uncle had been an M16 operator- assassin- and trained Michelle. When Michelle’s uncle died she inherited his business. Daniel knew Michelle’s business could be dangerously it had a,most got them both killed the year before. He had asked Michelle not to go in the field again and marry him and she thought she had agreed. But then Michelle changed her mind and refused to see him again. She refused to compromise as her work was too important. Michelle knew Daniel and her still had strong chemistry and it was hard to ignore. Daniel was not like any other man Michelle had known. She would help Daniel find his sister but that was all. Michelle and Daniel flew to Vegas and talked to the manager/Garcia at the apartment complex and he let them into the apartment and Michelle found a burner phone under the bed but didn’t let Garcia know that..Garcia gave them the name of the woman who cleaned for Robert and his girlfriend Helga. Her nickname was Apple . They were followed when they went to talk to Apple. They then returned to Garcia’s office after talking to Apple as they both felt Garcia hadn’t told them everything he knew. Noone was in the office and Michelle used a set of tools to get in Garcia’s apartment and found him murdered on the floor. Michelle used alcohol pads to wipe everything cleaned that they had touched. Then they called the initials that were left on the phone and it was Sean Bradley and he said he knew where Beth was. Michelle and Daniel went to Sean’s home and they met Beth but she didn’t want to go with Daniel as she didn’t know him. Sean’s mother agreed to let Beth stay with her and see how it worked out while they tried to Find Beth’s mother and cousin. Michelle and Daniel flew back to NYC as Michelle ahd a package from a client who had been poisoned and died while talking to her. He had been poisoned by the Russians in London. The package was a flashdrive and after looking at it Michelle told Bertram who worked for her to get a hold of the CIA and have someone come get the flash drive that had identification on them. Bertram had went to lunch and her other workers were out of the office when Daniel came in and right after him two thugs that drew weapons and Michelle shot the weapons out of their hands and let them run off. Daniel and Michelle then decided to met for tea and when they did two more thugs show up Michele disarmed them with a little help from Daniel. But she had been cut in her arms. Daniel took her to his apartment and put some stitches in her arm. Michelle was too exhausted to leave and slept on Daniel’s coach. Later that next day Daniel finally convinced Michelle and made love to her. They had ro leave for Vegas as a homicide detective- John Wilson - demands that Michelle and her client return there and talk to him about Garcia’s murder.
This was a good supernatural read and I really enjoyed it. It also had just enough romance shot in. I loved daniel and Michelle together they made a good team. As much as Michelle tried to fight her feelings and attraction to Daniel and he gently and not so gently pushed her but he loved michelle and that was clear all through this book. This dragged a little for me at times yet this managed to keep my attention and I finished this and and was glad I had stuck with this book. I liked that everything was tied together just like Michelle thought it was. I loved the ending. I don’t know why Bertram was so against Daniel unless he wanted Michelle for himself. Daniel had saved her life just like she had saved his. A good mystery but we basically knew what was going on although there was a twist here and there. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.
Enjoyable read. I love the scene set in Las Vegas. Portrays realistically both the tourist attraction and the slimy underbelly. Vegas is multi-faceted and so is this novel. Dr. Daniel teams up with an old flame to find a teenage girl he has been informed is his half sister. He is able to convince Michelle that he needs her help and the race is on. Well developed characters and intriguing situations. I have already downloaded the first book of this series!
