Description
THE UNFORGETTABLE TRUE STORY BEHIND SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING MEMOIR, FINDING TIPPERARY MARY.
A brutal and touching account of the life of Bridget Tipperary Mary Larkin. She faced poverty, bereavement, cruelty and abandonment many times over yet never lost the heart to pursue true love.
Returning to rural Ireland in 1938 and a young girl full of hope and expectation, A Song for Bridget recounts a series of tragic events that eventually bring her to Manchester and Birmingham and a desperate daily struggle to survive.
Bridget s haunting story, told for her by her daughter, is a perfect example of both the fragility and resilience of the human spirit.

PRAISE FOR FINDING TIPPERARY MARY:
Inspirational & a
Brave Thing to do
I read this book
with great interest - as a lad from the West Midlands I grew up in care, and
find that it commendable that people write these true life stories. They have
no need to, and it is a indeed a very difficult thing to do - but others need
to know, and learn what happened to others.
Thankyou for bringing such a sad, yet inspirational story out into the open, and for keeping "Tipparary Mary" ever immortalised within the confines of this book, and its readers minds' eye.

Heartbreaking
I was always intrigued
by this story, I'm from an Irish background, I live in Birmingham, I work in a
care home with dementia patients, I remember reading an article about this lady
and thought what an truly wonderful woman Phyllis must be, I was not
disappointed, I think many of us couldn't have had the courage to have done
what she has done, I have the utmost respect for this lady, heartbreaking but
full of love.

Such an emotional story
and very well written
A wonderful read. It's the quickest book I've read in a long time because it
was so well written I just couldn't leave it alone. Well done Phyllis, your Mum
would be very proud of you. I do wonder if at any time in the future you will
meet your siblings!

Raw emotion
I have read this book in one sitting. My eyes are so raw with tiredness &
tears I have never been so moved. Having this awful illness is so heartbreaking
& is often brought on by a troubled past A remarkable life of love loss
& heartache wonderfully written.

Wow what a wonderful read and what a brave personal subject to write about I was in tears reading Bridget's story and knowing it was a true story made it so much more poignant the life she had and the cruelty of the people who should have known better and should have been helping her made it quite a difficult read at times but my heart went out to her brilliantly written and now I have to read the Phyllis's story in the earlier book a truly great read 📚
