Description
Summers are supposed to be fun, right? Not mine. I’ve got a job at my dad’s company, which is sponsoring a college scholarship competition. I just found out that, in addition to my job assisting the competing interns, I’m supposed to vote for the winner. Totally not what I signed up for.
My boss is running the competition like it’s an episode of Survivor. Then there’s Carlos, who is, well, very distracting––in a good way. But I can’t even think about him like that because fraternizing on the job means instant disqualification for the intern involved.
As if that’s not enough, an anonymous informant with insider intel is trying to sabotage my dad’s company on social media...and I’m afraid it's working.
Much as I’d love to quit, I can’t. Kristoffs Never Quit is our family motto. I just hope there’s more than one survivor by the end of this summer.

When I want a fun to read romance I turn to Entangled Teen and this is by far one of my favorite reads from Entangled Teen! This story was much more than I thought it would be, including friendship, mystery, romance, betrayal, great pop culture references, and of course spies, lies and allies! I loved the way the story was written and the premise of Laurel working for the summer at her father's office, Emergent Enterprises, as an assistant to the interns who are all vying for a $100,000 scholarship. There were so many levels to the story, including the relationships that Laurel forms with the interns, the romance and her relationship with her own father. The mystery was great and the story was just a good read all around. I finished it and was glad that I read it because it really kept my interest due to the many different topics that were touched on. Well done and looking forward to reading more by this author. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
I received a copy of SPIES, LIES, AND ALLIES: A LOVE STORY on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
Five stars and here's why:
Lisa Brown Roberts had me by the title! SPIES, LIES, AND ALLIES: A LOVE STORY - I love a good spy story full of conflict and teenage love angst! But seriously. Ms. Roberts wrote a hella-awesome, story with just the right amount of steam and sass and diversity and geek references to keep me turning the pages for more.
When Laurel and Carlos and a host of other determined teens spend the summer working for her dad’s company and competing for a major college scholarship, sparks fly, inhibitions crumble, and what’s left is me with a major book hangover. Simply devoured this story in one day. If you love sexy guys, savvy girls, and a sassy romance, then this book is for you! Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this novel. I have always loved Entangled, because I'm a major sucker for a soppy love story. I really loved the way that they set this novel - in a slightly different manner. I loved that it was set in a corporate environment, even though sometimes it may have been a bit unrealistic.
I looooooved Carlos, even when he was being a bit of a jerk at times....
Overall, possibly one of my favourite novels I've had to review yet!
4.5 Stars.
If you like sweet romance and Star Wars, this book is for you.
Super quick read, with adorable characters and lots of geeky references. Almost, but not quite to overload.
Minor quibble that the plot/villain was a bit bland and anticlimatic, but I was there for the romance, which absolutely delivered.
