Description
Six young people, all born with a secret buried deep within, set out on a life-altering quest to find and restore the lost crystals of Ialana.
Pursued by lethal foes, the six, along with a seventh, battle their way toward a lost crystal and an astonishing secret. A secret that has been 500 years in the making. A secret that will unearth the forgotten knowledge of crystal technology, and the mystery of their past. It is a secret so powerful that Amrafalus, the Dragon-King must, once again, stop the six at any cost.
Guided by their shared dreams, and mentored by Irusan, a transcendental shape-shifter, the group develops impenetrable relationships and learn to rely on one another. Will they find the crystal in time, or will their enemy succeed in his mission to control the powerful crystals of Ialana?
Fans of Tolkien, or Terry Brooks Shannara Chronicles, will be intrigued by the sword and sorcery fantasy skillfully blended with science fiction in all four books of the Ialana Series.

I wasn't wowed by this book. The story reminded me a bit of Lord of the Rings. Lots of travel, lots of world building but very little plot. It seemed tediously long but I also think it set a very good base for the next book in the series which is why I'm still giving it 4 stars. It reminds me a lot of other first book in series which isn't great but the series overall is. Perhaps it's just a lot of information to process. Characters are a little under developed. You get a clear picture of Seryn, and a feeling for most of the others but I really feel that The Six didn't have enough to really make them feel like they were real rather than an idea. I'm still really confused by Amrafalus - the one description says he's enormous and others talk of him walking through passages. There's never really a clear description of him and he seems a very intangible character for most of the book. I'd almost like to see inside his mind more. It just wasn't "there" for me in total, but still a good book.
I enjoyed this book as an entertaining and clear example of fantasy and adventure. Descriptions and characters work to engage the reader.

Six heroes with a secret in each have a secret buried deeply inside. They leave their homes to go on a quest to find a mysterious crystal with powers. They will go through many mountain caves where they will find and face horrible creatures. A guide, Irusan appears to help them on their journey. They find themselves fighting to get to the lost crystal. However, they have an enemy, a Dragon King who wants to destroy them. Who will get the lost crystal?
The mystery and danger the characters go through make the novel an intriguing book to read. I enjoy the twists and turns the writer wrote in the novel. It is a great adventure to read!
