Description
The school year is winding down, and Nate can’t wait for summer vacation: baseball, beach trips, and…overripe bananas? Yuck!
Turns out Nate has a problem with fruit that’s past its prime. And that’s not all that’s bugging him. Kim Cressly is making Chester jealous at Nate’s expense, Artur is challenging him in the Hunny Bursts mascot contest, and his replacement social studies teacher is none other than Coach John. In banana terms, it’s all left Nate feeling a little bruised. Can he make it to summer without slipping up?
Join Nate and the gang for more shenanigans in this collection of Big Nate comics!

Review to be posted on all sources mentioned in my profile in September.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
Gee, how could I resist? I have been looking forward to a new Big Nate book ever since I finished the last one. I kept hoping that it would be there soon so I could read more of Nate's adventures in life, see his friends, and also see what themes we have in this book.
This time there is quite a lot of baseball. It is not a sport I am that into, it seems a tad boring to me. But it was still a lot of fun to read about how they changed the name of their team (poor guys, not really a good choice either way), how Chester missed the deadline and is now a deadly force on another team (RIP our guys, and girl), and to also see some games.
The cereal mascot thing was fun, and I actually thought Nate had a nice idea/design. I didn't like that Artur also participated, it felt a bit too much like he was copying Nate. And I also could understand Nate's reaction to it all. He just wants something of his own, and now someone else, someone who is generally better at stuff, also does the same thing. :(
I adore Nate's thought bubbles as at times it goes way out of character for him, plus the expressions he often pulls while thinking are just hilarious. Like a kid that has seen it all. :P
Gina was again annoying as hell. Girl, get a hobby. One that doesn't include being a whiny brat or being rude to people.
I had such a laugh when the captain of the team asked Nate's sister to prom and all the chaos that came from that. Oh good grief. I did feel that Nate was a bit too annoying at this point though, that even went so far to constantly comment on everything, and also even get Ellen's boyfriend. *rolls eyes*
And of course enough school stuff popping up. Nate trying to talk his way out of projects, his visits to the principal's office, all sorts of classes and tests, and more. While he gets into trouble all the time, I have to applaud to what Nate does, I mean not everyone can do the stuff he pulls and thinks up. Like what he did to the Coach. Nice to also see report cards going modern, though it means an extra level of difficulty for Nate to get rid of the terrible grades he probably got.
Also that stab towards Nate's shirt always be the same. Welcome to cartoons where people generally never change their clothing and always wear the same.
Oh, and we learn something new about Nate and bananas.
Of course there is a lot more happening, you will definitely not be bored while reading. This was oh so much fun to read and I can't wait for the next book to make an appearance. Hopefully in a few months. *crosses fingers* And of course, I would recommend this volume.
This summer, a question for the ages is answered, when is the best time to eat a banana? Nate certainly has an opinion in this book. He also interacts with many of our favorite characters; Kim, Chester, School Picture Guy, and Artur. One person who is out for a bit is social studies teacher Mrs. Godfrey. Nate is delighted until he finds out who the substitute teacher is...
This book comes out September 18

Not an easy book to review - mostly because everything you need to say about Big Nate you've said before. People should just buy it already.
I'm always excited to see a new Big Nate book. The kids devour them like they haven't read a book in years. You never have to weed them, you just have to keep replacing them. I especially liked the "This is Your Life" section in this one.
Big Nate never disappoints. Always manages to bring smile on my face.

My 9 and 11 year old daughters love graphic novel style books and the Big Nate series is no exception. They were thrilled to read this upcoming installment and enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you so much for providing a copy for review. They will be talking about this one to all of their friends !
I shared this story with my 9-yr-old who feels that Big Nate Goes Bananas is another solid story in the franchise. Nate enters a drawing contest for cereal and continues his quest for Jenny’s love. It is highly recommended!
It's a pretty funny comic / graphic novel. There are different stories in this one book, but they all tie together. It will be sure to keep middle grade readers engaged. After I was done reading it, my 9 year old also read this. She is a huge Big Nate fan. She was giggling / laughing the entire time she was reading it. This is another great addition to the Big Nate series! My daughter can’t wait to tell her friends about it in September!
I received access to this title's eBook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Another very funny graphic novel in the Big Nate series. Lincoln Peirce's books are impossible to keep stocked on the library shelves, and it's easy to see why. The jokes in this books will leave kids in stitches and wanting more.
I taught middle school for the better part of 30 years and I see so much in Big Nate that is true to the middle school experience. The self-focus that can occur at that age is epitomized in Nate. He blithely goes through a dream world where he is the hero and the focus of all good things. In the real world he's kind of dorky and prone to get put in detention. He's generally well-intentioned, even though a bit self-centered. I laughed out loud more than once reading this. It was a fun time.
Big Nate is always enjoyable, and this collection is no exception. This was maybe not quite at the top of the Big Nate pile and was missing some Nate/Gina interaction, but a solid entry. Always worth reading.
What a great book for my kids. Both love this series of books. And this installment didn't disappoint.
Big Nate books are always a hit with kids at our school library. Peirce has delivered book to keep kids laughing. The graphic novel style of the book will attract lower grade readers, and the story will keep them interested.
The school year is ending and Big Nate and his friends have to survive the end of the year and get through the summer. This graphic novel changes scenes quickly which always keeps the readers on their toes! Big Nate, even with all of his faults, is a likable character. He faces many challenges but gets through them all in hilarious ways! From having a baseball team with a wimpy name, to constantly annoying his classmate Gina, to having his uncle, the "man child" babysit him; this book will keep you laughing the whole way through!
Another volume of the comic strip featuring the loveable loser who is completely different than Charlie Brown.
Some of the plots are recurring, such as the name of the baseball team—Cupcakes is infinitely worse than Cream Puffs—and Nate actually sticking up for his sister, while others I haven’t seen before, like uncle Ted babysitting, and Nate being a trendsetter.
But really, after so many, what is there left to say? If you liked these in the past, you’ll like this one too. If you haven’t seen it before, check it out. They’re usually funny.
These Big Nate books are seriously so adorable and fluffy. I know some parents object to the way Nate treats authority figures, from teachers to parents, but I find it fairly accurate for boys in this age range. This is the time where teachers know nothing and parents are super embarrassing.
This is one of the funnier Nate books I've seen in awhile. More characters had o_O moments than just Nate, and we had new, fresh jokes and characters we haven't seen before. So cute.
Who knew Nate would be so opinionated on bananas? I have to say that my favorite story arc was the Star Trek: TNG one - it works well for all Star Trek franchises and sci-fi nerds!
No spoilers to give away here. This is a funny book for all ages.
Thanks for NetGalley for the Adobe copy (the actual book comes out 09/18/2018).
Four (really more like 4.5) out of five stars.
This was a fun read, as are the Big Nate books I have previously read.
Thank you Net Galley for an ARC.
Another good book for your child or the child in you .
A good book. It reminded me of the comics you'd find in a Sunday newspaper. Some of the jokes adults would found amusing. My 8-year-old enjoyed reading it and when she was finished. While some of it was silly, kid funny, I was surprised she enjoyed reading them so much because the jokes, for me, seemed to be written for someone older in mind. But she liked it, and I thought each "scene" was funny. This would be a great book to recommend to kids that hate chapter books.
Librarian: So many of the kids I've worked with were huge fans of Big Nate, and I don't see this volume changing that. The comics are squarely aimed at mid-to-upper elementary, and they should hit their mark. Expect fans of series like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Middle School the Worst Years of My Life, and Captain Underpants, to be all over this series.
Reader: I'm a bit too old for Big Nate. The humor is definitely aimed a bit (lot) younger, but I can still see the appeal. They're definitely what might be classified as "boy" humor, but there's enough there that girl's should like them too.
I love the Big Nate books and have shared the love with my two oldest boys. Big Nate is funny and you can relate to him no matter your age. The drawings are fun as well.

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and Net Galley for a free copy of this book in trade for an honest review.
A bit of too late for the review, but this is actually the 2nd Big Nate book I read. It’s still hilarious as the previous book, but maybe some of the jokes doesn’t really rub on me. But I like it as well. It fuels my need for a good laugh.
Starting with how the coach wants to change the baseball team name and ended up with “cupcake” as a team name. And then relationship between Nate and Kim (is there even a relationship there?) it makes the story getting funnier by every turn of page. Every single time, Chester who’s Kim’s boyfriend seems to find a reason to hurt Nate. Also, the question of reincarnation: when you die and return back to life, what will you become? Nate answer’s got shortened by his friends as Cheetos. On the other hand, Mrs.Godfrey wants to come back as her-self. That sends shivers down the spine for Nate.
Overall, the Big Nate series is something to look forward to. With the funny conflict between Nate and his friends and teachers, this series are guaranteed to entertain your day.
Recommend to read on a bad day and read it with an open mind, since there’s a possibility that Nate’s logic is explainable somehow. Fingers crossed that my baby in the future don’t have Nate’s logic.
